The next general meeting will be held on Sunday, January 11, at 1:30pm (note later time), at:

Red Lion Hotel Vancouver at the Quay (Google Maps)
100 Columbia St
Vancouver, WA 98660

General meetings are open to the public. Learn more about staffing and volunteer opportunities and get involved with the planning of Kumoricon. Bring your friends, too!

General Meeting Schedule

The general meeting schedule for the rest of the 2015 convention year has been posted on the meetings page.

These meetings are open to the public, so please refer your interested friends to this page for our meeting schedule so they can find out about staffing Kumoricon!

Dates and times are tentative until we list an exact location.

Announcing Guests of Honor The Slants

We are very excited to make the first guest announcement for 2015. Please welcome back to Kumoricon, The Slants!

Portland’s The Slants are the first and only all-Asian American dance rock band in the world, who made their anime convention debut at Kumoricon 2007. We’re happy to host them for another exciting performance!

Visit Guests of Honor for complete info on The Slants.

Kumoricon 2015 Pre-Registration Is Open

The moment is now… registration for Kumoricon 2015 is officially available.

Registration from now through January 5th is only $45 for the whole weekend for age 13 and up.

Those of you looking for the royal treatment can opt for a special VIP Membership, but only a limited number are available.

Starting in 2015, Kumoricon is switching to paper badges, printed when you check in. All badges are picked up in person at the convention, even if you pre-register.

Go to registration and follow the link to start your online pre-registration, or to register by mail.

December General Meeting and Winter Party

Our first General Meeting and the Kumoricon Winter Party this year will be held at John’s Incredible Pizza, near Washington Square Mall in Portland:

John’s Incredible Pizza (Google Maps)
9180 SW Hall Blvd
Beaverton, OR 97223

Everything starts at 4pm, so John’s recommends we start checking in at the Party Entrance at 3:45pm.

Although the meeting is open to the public, we can’t really afford to pay for every customer that comes in that day, so we need to build a check in list of the people the convention will be paying for. Please complete this form by 3pm on December 6.

Any member who completes this form will be paid entry (including meal and fun card) by the convention. Anyone who doesn’t RSVP (or does RSVP but wasn’t a member) will have to come in through the regular entrance and pay their own way. Plus-ones who are included in your RSVP will be covered if and only if there is room on the guest list, so have a back-up plan ready.

Please also be sure to bring your photo ID to the event if you were a member in 2014.

Welcoming Directors for 2015

We would like to welcome and congratulate the Directors elected for the 2015 convention year:

  • Chair/President: Phillip Koop
  • Director of Membership: Brian Mathews
  • Director of Programming: Jaki Hunt
  • Director of Publicity: Teph Williams
  • Director of Infrastructure: Diana Hoffman
  • Director of Operations: Jason Pollard
  • Director of Relations: John Krall

Thank you to all candidates, and to our staff for your participation in elections!

Annual Meeting of the Membership and 2015 Elections

The Annual Meeting of the Membership will be held on Saturday, September 27, at 11:00am (note earlier time) at:

Red Lion Hotel Vancouver at the Quay (Google Maps)
100 Columbia St
Vancouver, WA 98660

A bylaws amendment will be presented to the membership for a vote at this meeting. The bylaws amendment creates a new position on the board, the Director of Infrastructure, and eliminates the Vice Chair position, both changes starting with the 2015 convention year. Bylaws amendments require a vote in approval both by the board and by the membership to pass. The board has unanimously passed this amendment and recommends that the members vote to approve it. Details of this amendment, including the full text and a copy of the bylaws with annotated changes, are available in the Bylaws amendment to create Director of Infrastructure forum thread in the staff area. (To access this link requires being a staff member, being logged into the forum, and linking a forum account. Please contact secretary@kumoricon.org for any assistance.) Details of the amendment were also emailed to all ratified staff members at the time of the announcement. If the amendment is passed by the membership at the annual meeting, an election will be held for the new directorship at this same meeting.

At the Annual Meeting of the Membership, elections will be held for the following positions:

  • Chair/President
  • Director of Membership
  • Director of Operations
  • Director of Programming
  • Director of Publicity
  • Director of Relations
  • Director of Infrastructure (if bylaws amendment passes)

This meeting is open to public attendance. Voting is open to Altonimbus Entertainment Members (Kumoricon staff).

Members must be present in person to vote, except for proxy voting. If you are a Member of Altonimbus Entertainment but cannot attend the meeting, you may designate another Member as your proxy. This means that the Member you designate as your proxy is authorized to cast your vote in your stead for any election or matter that comes before the membership for a particular meeting. A Member may only act as a proxy for no more than two other Members for a particular vote. You may authorize a proxy in either of two ways: (1) The Member not attending the meeting may authorize another Member using the online proxy authorization system, or (2) The proxy attending the meeting may bring a printed form to the meeting signed by the absent Member. Only one or the other is required, not both. The full proxy policy is printed on the authorization form.

There is a more detailed elections process document available to staff members (staff login required) detailing the elections meeting policy and procedure. A summary of the elections procedure is publicly available. Nominations are open on the forum until Sep. 25, 11:59pm. You may ask questions to candidates in the respective candidate Q&A threads for each position.

Please note that the meeting starts two hours earlier than normal, at 11:00am, to provide enough time for all the elections.
