Kumoricon's accessibility
Accessibility information
For questions about accessibility at Kumoricon, please email accessibility@kumoricon.org The Accessibility information desk, located in Pre-Function A, will be available throughout the convention weekend to assist with questions, comments, and/or concerns regarding accessibility.
Access stickers
Disabled attendees at Kumoricon have the option of using a badge sticker to indicate that they need additional accommodations. These badge stickers are NOT REQUIRED in order to get additional help, but they help speed the process. These stickers may be placed on the back or front of the badge, or on or inside the badge holder according to the comfort of the wearer, who can choose to disclose their status as they see fit.
Accessibility stickers are available in the Registration Hall (Exhibit Hall E) from the Accessibility Registration Desk, or from the Accessibility Info Desk located in Pre-Function A.
Registration
When registering for or checking in to the convention, members requesting accessibility accommodation can skip the regular Kumoricon registration line and receive service at the Accessibility Booth inside the Registration Hall. The Accessibility Booth has more information about accessibility accommodation throughout the convention. To access the Accessibility Booth, enter the Registration Hall, turn left, and proceed a short distance before walking toward the middle of the hall. You will find the line to the accessibility booth, which will include wider aisles, some chairs for those who need them, and desks at two heights.
Service animals
Kumoricon welcomes animals that are trained to provide assistance, through a specific action, to an individual with a disability.
Please be aware that the Oregon Convention Center otherwise prohibits all animals on its campus. This includes therapy or anxiety pets. Only service animals trained to provide assistance to an individual with a disability, through a specific action, are allowed.
For any official Kumoricon programming held outside the Oregon Convention Center, the policies for the venue where that programming is held also apply.
AFK room (Away From Kumo): Room D140
The Away-From-Kumo room, located in Lobby D for 2025, is a room set aside for quiet. It includes tables, chairs, sanitary wipes, earplugs, masks, power outlets, low lighting, and some quiet activities to help attendees and staff take a moment when they need it. Please be courteous in this space and avoid chatter, noise, and bright lights, and use headphones to keep electronic media to yourself.
Please do not sleep in the AFK room.
If you have concerns or questions during the convention about the AFK room or you wish to report a problem, please contact the Operations or Accessibility Team.

Interpretation and captioning
Kumoricon is currently working to coordinate captioning and ASL interpretation services. If you are interested in captioning or interpreting at Kumoricon, or if you would like to request services, please email accessibility@kumoricon.org. At this time, captioning and/or interpretation is not guaranteed.
KumoriMarket
This year, disabled attendees and VIPs will be allowed into the market area 30 minutes before the general line. This is to allow for extra time for browsing in a less crowded and noisy environment.
Panels, lines, events, and seating
Panel rooms and event halls this year have designated priority seating for those who need it, indicated by chair sleeves and floor markings. A variety of priority seating will be available, from clear floor spaces to chairs next to spaces and a selection of chairs at various distances from stages and presentation areas. Walkways in panel rooms meet ADA standards for wheelchair navigability.
Lines at the 2025 convention have sections for disabled attendees and VIP badge holders that include priority seating for those who have trouble standing in line. These lines are also shorter, allowing the people who use them to join the line later and stand for less time, and they are allowed into events slightly earlier than the general lines to give time to find seating that works for each individual’s needs.
The Main Events and Auditorium stages include ramps onto the stage from the green room. Most rooms use ground-level tables for panelists to use. Panel rooms with raised stages do not include ramps and are raised to a height of 24” and are accessible via two additional steps. If you would like to request assistance getting onto a stage, or if you have other mobility concerns, please contact accessibility@kumoricon.org.
Photosensitivity warnings
For 2025, the Accessibility team has coordinated with Publicity and Programming to have Photosensitivity warning signs posted outside events that are anticipated to use flashing lights. Events that make use of flashing lights each year include, but are not limited to:
- Fashion shows
- Raves
- Photobooths
- After Parties
For questions regarding photosensitivity at individual events and panels, please contact:

Elevators, escalators, and accessible routes
Maps | Oregon Convention Center
The Oregon Convention Center interactive map can be found at https://www.oregoncc.org/attend/maps
The maps include Levels 1, 2, and Lobby Level. It has search functions for individual rooms and halls as well as a variety of amenities. Please reference the map where possible for specific locations.
Doors
All external public doors at the convention center are automatic, as well as all public restroom doors. Doors into meeting rooms, ballrooms, and other areas within the convention center are manual, but many will be left open when they are expected to be used the most, for example at the beginning and end of panels and during exhibit hall hours.
The doors to the Martin Luther King, Jr. lobby, and Holladay lobby are scheduled to remain open during convention hours, but will be locked when the convention is closed. The open hours for the Ginkoberry Concourse doors are still being decided. See the 2025 convention schedule for more details.
Elevators
Elevators are available in the following locations:
- Pre-Function A: access to Level 1, Lobby Level, and Level 2
- Pre-Function C: access to Level 1, Lobby Level, and Level 2
- Ginkoberry Concourse near the connector tunnel: access to Level 1 and Lobby Level.
- Pre-Function D: access to Level 1 and both levels of the parking garage
- Pre-Function E: access to Level 1 and both levels of the parking garage
Each elevator is located near a set of escalators. The escalators in the Ginkoberry Concourse, Pre-Function A and C, and the MLK, Jr. and Holladay Lobbies provide access to convention programming and facilities.
Access between lobbies
The Lobby Level of the convention center contains the MLK, Jr. and the Holladay Lobbies. These lobbies are connected by a flat route that overlooks Pre-Concourse A and C, but some attendees with mobility issues may find it easier to navigate between lobbies by taking the elevator to Level 1 or Level 2 and then taking another elevator back to the Lobby Level.
Access between concourses
The Ginkoberry Concourse and Pre-Function C are connected by a flat route called the Level 1 Connector, which is a tunnel access route that allows convention attendees to access all of OCC’s Level 1 without passing through the Lobby Level. Some attendees may find it easier to take the elevator from Level 1 to the Lobby Level and then back to Level 1 to navigate between the Ginkoberry Concourse and Pre-Function C.
Restrooms
Maps | Oregon Convention CenterThe Oregon Convention Center includes several gender-neutral restrooms. The ones that are available for Kumoricon 2025 are in the following locations:
- Hall A
- Hall C
- Hall D
- At the top of the escalators connecting Ballroom Lobby and MLK, Jr. Lobby
- Off Pre-Function A, below the escalators to the Holladay Lobby
- In the Level 1 Connector Tunnel
- Pre-Function E
- Pre-Function D
Gender-neutral restrooms will be labeled as such. All single-user restrooms are designated for use by all genders. Some additional information is provided in the OCC Restroom Handout. (This link will open a PDF. If you need the PDF transcribed, please email Accessibility.)
The Oregon Convention center’s public restrooms all have automatic doors. The OCC has a variety of multi-user and single-user restrooms, and single-user restrooms are designated as fully accessible.
The convention center also provides nursing suites located in Pre-Function A and Pre-Function E.
Mobility devices
Mobility devices are welcome at Kumoricon! Devices including, but not limited to, canes, rollators, walkers, seat canes, wheelchairs, and scooters may be used at the convention. Mobility aids do not need to be peace bonded. However, weapons that are part of mobility aids (e.g. blunt swords as part of sword canes) must go through the peace bonding process.
Powered mobility devices are limited to using electric or battery power and must not exceed the speed of pedestrian traffic. All mobility aids should be used responsibly and courteously.
Mobility device rental is available from many businesses in the Portland area. If you do not have your own and need to rent a mobility device, please contact one of these businesses. Most are open Monday through Friday and may be able to deliver devices.
The Oregon Convention center has a limited number of mobility devices available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you need to use an OCC mobility device, please contact Guest Services via email at guestexperience@oregoncc.org, by phone at 503-731-7800, or by visiting the Guest Services desk in the MLK, Jr. lobby.
Parking
Maps | Oregon Convention Center
Parking and Dock | Oregon Convention Center
The 10 accessible parking spaces on Parking Level 1 and 11 on Parking Level 2 are located near elevators and provide access to the convention center with curb cutouts and automatic doors. Parking Level 2 includes 9ft ceiling clearance, while Parking Level 1 has a more standard parking garage ceiling level. These parking spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis and, like all OCC parking garage spaces, are subject to a daily parking fee with no in-and-out privileges.
Passenger drop-off and loading zones are available along Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Passengers dropped off in these locations will have sidewalk access to the Ginkoberry and MLK, Jr. doors but may encounter crowds and/or restricted access to curb cutouts.
Parking is also available on a first-come, first-served basis from nearby hotels and private, paid parking lots. These locations vary in cost, safety, and accessibility, and attendees are encouraged to research potential parking spots before their arrival.

TriMet Accessibility Information for Seniors and People with Disabilities
The convention center is accessible by TriMet services at stops 8341 and 8376, Oregon Convention Center MAX station. Trains and streetcars arrive and depart frequently going both East and West and include wheelchair access. While the train tracks across NE Holladay St may pose difficulties for smaller wheels, many find that TriMet services bring them to a convenient spot for attending the convention. Attendees coming in via TriMet may find that the Holladay Lobby doors are the closest to the station.
