So...I hope that today I will be able to paint my Misty shoes and make her shorts.
I also hope that I will be able to style the pony tail for the wig. :/ I need to get the got2be glue and stuff. (Walgreens, right?)

And I might have another character.
She isnt anime or her normal person, either...
I hope to do Titania from Forever Underhill which is somewhat of a spin off from Midsummer Nights Dream. Its a web series that is starting this year to show the talent around the Tri-Cities and bring recruiters here instead of us having to go to Seattle or Portland for auditions and well...I am Titania. So I figured it would be fun if I like the outfit enough.

@Ren- GUH SO CUTE. And your tail is FREAKING AWESOME. I'm so stoked to see it in real life.

I've got a killer headache right now because I'm stressing over stuff.
One I'm trying to paint a pair of shoes I bought from someone on the forums. It's not a big deal but I had to rip a fabric edge off aroudn the top of it because it wasn't taking paint well, kinda annoying.

I also am trying to dye a sweater for Ramona Flowers from Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game at the moment. I can't find anything that is the same shade a blue. I have one blue sweater to fall back on just in case, but yeah, dying a white one. I tried using one packet of Idye Turquoise and though it did turn turquoise, it's really like, like a deep sky blue (except turquoise). I'm assuming this is because it is 40% polyester. So I'm going to try a bit of Idye Poly in blue tomorrow (stove top dyeing, yay!) I'm a little worried because I don't want to make the thing super dark, but I don't want to have to try to dye it again after this. I'll hopefully try to figure out what I'm doing tonight!

Got some pants for Nightmare today, and later tonight I'm going to start stitching on the little pocket that goes on the leg. But other than that I haven't really gotten any money to start buy material for sewing his vest. I showed a picture of him to my mom yesterday, and she thinks that I'm insane. "That's very ambitious for you.." And yes I understand this, but have you seen the other costumes that everyone else does? >.>

I got my claws drying. I probably need to paint one more layer on this side then a touch up. Once those are done I will attach them to the sleeves. The moth of the mask is drying then I will attach that and the mask will be done. I have the leg warmers cut out. I still need to finish the edges, sew the detailing in and then sew the edges together. I could start cutting out the pieces for the shoes but I want to wait till I get the shoes so I know how big/long everything needs to be. I am going to try to get the jacket and the mask done today.

Oh by the way this is for Taokaka.

Just ordered the wig for the 8th Doctor. It had better look as good as I hope it will, because it took me two hours going through swatches and pictures of wigs on other people all over the internet and comparing them to extremely vexing color-changing reference shots before I found a color that even vaguely resembles Paul McGann's hair color. But I do believe I've got it down, now, so hopefully in about two weeks I'll have a gloriously curly not-quite-ginger blond-ish wig.

Wearing a wig is canon. Paul McGann got a haircut right before they started filming the movie and the whole crew went nuts because he was picked as much for his acting talent as he was for his brilliant hair. He had to wear a wig until his hair grew back. I know this because I lurk a Tumblr dedicated to Matt Smith's hair. I am such a nerd.

Oh wait, yeah, yesterday, like 40 times.

Finished Leona's boots. I think they look okay, but not as good as they could D:

Here's a question for ya!
I'm making a female superhero costume designed by the wonderful Tofutakeout for halloween. It involves the stereo-typical leotard with cleavage.
The only problem I'm having is I have no idea what to make it out of. Pleather would rip at my crotch, and nylon wouldn't support my chest (and those sew in bra things don't come in my insanely large size).
Any other fabric suggestions?

In my experience, an extremely thick lycra would be the ideal fabric for a leotard like that. I've made superhero jumpsuits out of it before (a Blue Lantern corps uniform :D) and while it can be a very clingy substance the thicker the stuff is the more support-ish qualities it has.

Found a replacement wig in the color I spent hours matching! I am a happy camper. Take that, Universe! I am resourceful and internet-savvy!

I should have my replacement wig by this weekend. Which is brill, because then I can style it. It'll need some thinning and some hairspray, but hopefully I'll be faaaaaaaabulous~ by this time next week.

Going to Joann's tomorrow today (it's 1AM I don't have class until 10 I can afford to be up this late lol) and getting lining and other important notions for my frock coat. Maybe some more black twill and white broadcloth for my little sister's Rukia cosplay for Halloween. If I find any grayish green silk I'll pick it up for my cravat.

Does anyone know where I can get a toe tag that doesn't involve going to a morgue and asking a coroner for one?

@Boogie- 8D You look excellent! <3

@Richie- CONGRATZ ON SOLVING YOUR WIG PROBLEM! I know how that whole issue can be, :) So I'm happy you worked your internet skills!

8D So, I looked throw my closet o, fabric for stuff I could use for my few cosplays I'm focusing on now, which are, Capricorn, and tea shop Zuko.
I found some green and white I can definitely used to make Zuko's Apron, but for him, that's all I got, which is sad, but better then nothing. But I found some really awesome pattern fabric, and I'm considering making him a little kimono for some cute photos. XD Not sure yet though.
For Capricorn, I found some light purple for his pants, some pink for sash and some yellow for the trim on his shirt.

Its looking like the main color of fabric I'm going to be buying, is Brown... yaaaay. ^^;

I just spent five and a half hours or so cutting and pinning and cutting and math-ing and cursing and deciding which way the pattern of my brocade needed to go on my waistcoat. So now I have a bunch of fiddly fabric pieces and hopefully I'll have a vest at some point. Which is awesome.

Now to cut the chest padding and change my bobbin thread before I lose my momentum. Oh, and find some interfacing. I know I have some somewhere.

So I haven't worked on anything really in a while because things have just been sort of happening all over the place. But this week I plan on cracking down. And the first thing I plan to do is finish the fraking trim on that god damn secret cosplay for mew-con/Sakuracon. And also work on Tao a bit, I think I'll finish the hood. >3>

My back huuuuuurrrrrrrrrts D: I got interfacing and I've been sewing since I got home at about 4:30. But my vest has pretty pockets, it's mostly assembled and I just have to do the collar, bias tape around the edge of that and the button holes and buttons.

Nearly took myself out earlier with my own iron. I tripped over the cord and IT CAME FLYING AT ME, BRO. IT WAS CRAZY.

FFFFFFFF DAT WAISTBAND GAVE ME SO MUCH TROUBLE. But I'd rather it be too big than too small, that way you can do what you did with the apron and the skirt won't ride up your hips and end up way too short.

Also I used witch magic.
And Slowpoke is pretty much done.

I might add a white "stomach" to the front of the top, but if I do it'll be done tomorrow.

So for my Zuko helmet, I'm thinking of using this stuff called Wonderflex.
It seems like it'd work well, from the descriptions I've read, but I was just wondering if anyone has used it?
I would like to know if it is worth the money.

Thanks!

Wonderflex is always worth the money. It makes bell curves on a bias and doesn't afraid of anything.

I would suggest making all of your shapes on forms, though. I did that by carving fiberglass insulation foam into the shape I wanted, covering it in duct tape and then slumping the hot wonderflex over that.

I found pants I can cut into shorts! :'D
I actually found them in my dresser. I didn't know I had them~<3

The reason they are special is because they are plain...like...there is no design on the butt.
I don't get it but when I went looking for pants in stores, they all had stupid designs on the butt. Can you not get normal, plain, cheap pants anymore? -.-
But, anyways! Today I will be cutting them up and turning them into Misty shorts!
Then I will attach my home made suspenders to them. And then I can make the back diamond for the suspenders to keep them in place.
And then I just need shoes and to style the wig and I will be done with basic Misty~<3

Do they go up far enough?
My cosplay pet-peeve is when people who cosplay older animes don't have pants that aren't as high-rise as the characters pants. You can't even see Misty's belly button >>

I can't have pants that are that high on me.
If my pants were above my belly button, you wouldn't see any midriff as is shown with her outfit since the shirt itself is right above my belly button.
And no, I cannot shorten it. If I did, you would see my bra if I put my arms above my head.

Plus, where her pants are situated on her body, you should be able to see her belly button.
If you look at her mermaid outfit and then look at her regular outfit, you will see she is uncovered in the same area.
So, either her belly button moves when she wears pants as to when she is a mermaid or...iunno...something else. XP
Maybe the artist being too lazy to draw it every scene she is in? Plus, not having it show gives a more childish appearance because the shorts appear to be higher than they actually are.

And in a lot of fan art her belly button is showing because of how her shorts are situated on her body.

Concerning the belly button issue, its cool to have pet peeves but that is not something you push on others.

Second, Mistys belly button does show. Its how her pants are situated. The animators become lazy or just don't do details like that. It happens A LOT.

That is quite interesting. I know that when I was going to do a Misty what I did was get the pants that went up high and cut my shirt.
But to each her own.

And I didn't mean to push it on her, just pointing it out. My apologies if I offended.

Yay! I got my blazer for Nightmare, so now I have to get the trimmings for it next time I'm at the fabric store, and now use my sister as a model when I cut some of the sleeves off >D
