Since it's an Halloween wig are you going to just cut off the braids and attach them somehow?True. Though there may be points where I will want the mask off, so I can talk and what not so I wouldn't mind the top of the wig. Though it might not be a bad idea to just cut it all off. It would make getting the jacket on easier.

I'm wearing a sports bra in the picture to try and decrease the appearance of my chest size since Misty isn't that big. It's kinda restricting on breathing but meh. n.n i've kinda started on a winter costume (may go to sakura if i can go...) but thats about it thus far. i still plan on either fixing up terra or remaking her for 2011 and ravens going again so not much new there. =/ but omg nikki i will hug you in taokaka <3 D: taokakas are always so warm....The jacket is so soft. I love it :3 I need to work on finishing the edges on the paws and finishing up the mask. In order to finish the mask though I need the lights >_>
Oh thank you for that! That pattern is much better!!!I've found that that website is best for searching for patterns. ^_^ They have ~everything~. If you feel comfortable dying a wig, I say go for it! I would screw it up. XD
And I love dying wigs actually. I've done two so far and it's kinda become a breeze for me. So it's not really the work that's the problem for me. More of a Purple/black or just black since it's impossible to get a pure black with dye (Since all ink black has some purple in it).

But I do know that Fabric depot has a great selection of it. the satin there is about $9.99/yd not on sale. but they have lots of really good sales often. I think there is a 40% off fabric coming up soon, but don't quote me on that xD

I'm making a female superhero costume designed by the wonderful Tofutakeout for halloween. It involves the stereo-typical leotard with cleavage.
The only problem I'm having is I have no idea what to make it out of. Pleather would rip at my crotch, and nylon wouldn't support my chest (and those sew in bra things don't come in my insanely large size).
Any other fabric suggestions?

About the wig that never shipped, that could have been a computer error.
I ordered a wig from cosplay.com and it never came after a month. I sent them an e-mail and what had happened was that paypal never sent them a notification that I had paid. They gave me back my shipping fee and sent the item which took one week to get to me.
I guess it's kinda progress. I was suppose to be doing Arcueid from Tsukihime for Sakuracon but pretty much everyone in the Type Moon group we were putting together is dropping out and it's down to like, me and another person that is on the fence. I don't really wanna do Tsukihime by myself.For the gloves, its pretty easy to make your own, just trace around your hand and add a little for seam allowance for the pattern. (might wanna do some test ones first. I don't know if you wanted leather or not though, but they sell pleather at Joanns. Streatchy jersey cloth would work very nicely too.

I'm probably going to get a hoodie, a megaphone and some red contacts (I'll need them later when I do arc) next month sometime and I'm looking for some lip cuffs/rings right now.

Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction of where I could find some that don't have that and aren't big and bulky?
The second is I am not sure what I want to do with the bottom of the costume. In the PV that this is from it just shows them from the waist up the entire time so I have some creative liberty. The two ideas I liked were to possibly wear red sweatpants like the above picture with some hiking boots that I have.

Not really, I wussed out of doing Yoko last year because I was feeling self concious and I'm only doing this chick so that I can cosplay the same series with Maddy.Honestly Sahara, you have like the best possible body for Yoko and also Morrgian will probably look good simply because it's on you.

I only have to iron my great big long sash and then hand-sew the end shut and the main body of Senna will be done. I positively love the feel of this crepe silk, it's just like my mum's antique kimono and it's so perfect :D I've always wanted to cosplay her * 3*~~ Memories of Nobody is my favorite Bleach movie besides Fade to Black.
Still have to order a pair of orange contacts and some wefts in Black Cherry to do her ponytail, and after that I've just got to finish her zanpakuto. Those are all generally rather easy steps.

By the way, Bronte has given me a lot of advice on how to do Lilith and Morrigan so if you need any help I know how to make the wings look realistic and very light. I am also aware of how to make the tops look awesome too.
ALSO, do you guys think it'd be a great crime if I made it a bit more conservative and sacrificed some accuracy? I mostly intend on covering the cleavage area a bit more than it is in the game and maybe raising the back of the bodice a bit.
Not quite yet but it is foam piping then pvp piping in the middle. You can use a hair dryer to head up the pvc and bend it to the shape you want. After that I glued craft foam to it and put latex over it. I think they look pretty good so far :D I will take a picture as soon as possible.

The back in mine is a lot higher in order to make accommodations for the wings. I don't know if you have seen a lot of pictures of the back but on some of them the wings are coming out of her skin and the bodice starts below that. If I was able to do that I would but I can't think of a way so I had to raise it. Plus with morrigan I never see how it actually stays on. If you were to make it accurate you would need a lot of tape to hold it in place. What I would suggest is to make it closed at the top like Lilith's is. Make the heart a little lower so you can leave the top closed and that will help it stay on better.

I got my head wings attached to the wig and the glue is drying right now. I have the big wings attached and am painting over the tape. I think the tape will hold just fine and I will test it out but otherwise I will attach them to a thin piece of wood.PICS ♥
I also started working on Lugia again and got the spikes attached. All that is left is the blue stomach part and the sleeves and that is done. I got a week left to finish it all. I think Lilith will be done Christmas and Lugia done shortly after.

I think the only thing I'd point out is, if possible, see about getting a lighter shade of purple for the hair. Other than that, it looks great!
It's 120 cm, and I just translated all the lengths and I think it'll work, it's almost 4 feet long.

The stuff I got was a two part mixture and it all came together for that money. I'd say that it was a little harder then other stuff I've worked with but not impossible. My try was EXTREMELY bumpy because I didn't understand how to use it.
It cures SUPER SUPER FAST, so you have to like, mix not too much but not too little and spread it on fast but even and such.

Plus the only part I am painting on mine is the black part. And there are two sizes of the pokeball. The compact size and the normal size which is between a baseball and a softball (which is almost impossible to find). Plus I have gotten to the stage where I want to make as much as I can. There is also a rubix cube out there where the middle box is missing but I rather make it then buy one.

Yeah, I'm wearing Keiji Thursday for pre-reg and Friday night to bum around in.I was planing on wearing N Thursday but I think I will wear Date. That way I don't have to redo my hair Friday morning and I will be able to start getting dressed. It doesn't take too long to get into that outfit but normally it takes 15 minutes for me to get ready entirely and it takes about 15 minutes just to get that on without the makeup x.x

So now that school is done, tomorrow will be my first day really being able to work on my costumes..... I'm going to work on my wig for Jacqueline, which is a little intimidating since I've never really done any serious wig styling before.
I'm taking the wig pictured (originally planned for my Marie Mjolnie cosplay that I never followed through with) and styling it into the high bun shown in the picture below. So that means 'hot water straightening' a wig for the first time, stubbing, and taking the extra hair I'm cutting off and gluing it around a styrofoam core to make the bun. Hopefully it all works out! I've got a bunch of tutorials to go off of so I'm feeling pretty good about it! =]

Oh goddddd I need to dye Stocking's jacket black and it's mostly polyester.Well I was using a mesh poly, from a Yuna songstress costume. Probably why the RIT dye didn't want to take to it at first until I boiled it... But I think the hottest water from your tap might work :) But I haven't worked with special poly dye before.. Mostly just RIT. (Dylon dye doesn't like "satin" poly fabrics btw >>) A dark green turned the white satin a blue teal shade..
...I'd seriously rather just color the entire thing with sharpies instead of trying to boil it.

It works pretty well from what I've used of it. It just smells horrendous, hahaha. Last night I stuck a white Rayon/Polyester blend sweater in a vat of blue for seriously less then a minute and it dyed it a light blue. It comes out pretty evenly, my sweater just didn't because I couldn't let it sit in the vat for long at all so I had to immediately take it out and rinse it instead of letting the color saturate everything which caused some streaking.

Still not too sure how I'm going to get those three chopsticks onto my wig, but I'll figure something out. In the meantime, though, my wig is pretty boss.
I got it from a Taobao wig shop called Lucaille. I had to take apart the clip-on ponytail, wrap it around the foam ponytail core, wrap the purple and white fabric around it and then attach the whole thing to the wig :3So it is possible to take apart those clip-on pony tails.. I was afraid it wasn't possible! ><
The bangs still need styling, but I can do that once I put it on to wear it with the costume.

from Hollywood contacts, they are affordable, and excellent quality with fast shipping. I just realized that I bought them to far away from the date that I needed them.just saw their prices and wow! i'm def getting them from there :) ty!

I only need to do a few more things:
-Get + style PB wig
-Get + style Stocking wig
-Make PB crown
-Dye + sew stuff onto Stocking jacket
...After that I think I'm done. I should be getting the wigs next week and I'm hopefully doing the jacket this weekend. I think I'm most likely buying iDye Poly since it's made for polyester and won't mess the fabric up. It'll be fun explaining to my mom that I need to boil a huge pot of dye, but I guess she'll just have to deal lol.
I'm still not 100% sure what to do for the crown, I might just use thick paper and reinforce it with cardboard or something.

These I.Fairy lenses are the best I've seen so far. Shh..this was a great find XD
I don't see many places selling I.Fairys for such a good price.
From my geo knowledges they last a year, and everytime you wear them that counts as a day out of 365.
Not you keep them for 365 days then throw them out.
These lenses are thicker and larger then regular contacts and they aren't made of astigmatism to keep in mind.
You could use gold wire around something thick/the right shape, like sculpey(sp?) clay. Then you can have elastic attached to the ends under the hair/wig to keep it in place. I would do something like that, or just make it out of clay.Oh man, wouldn't that much clay be heavy and fragile? The most I'd do is paper mache, but even then I'd need to make a frame first.I only need to do a few more things:
-Get + style PB wig
-Get + style Stocking wig
-Make PB crown
-Dye + sew stuff onto Stocking jacket

I think I'm most likely buying iDye Poly since it's made for polyester and won't mess the fabric up. I'm still not 100% sure what to do for the crown, I might just use thick paper and reinforce it with cardboard or something.
It's like... An inch, inch and a half thick and a little smaller square than a DVD box. I haven't bought the stuff in years though. I made all my armor for Esther Blanchett out of it, if you ever saw that.Oh, I might just go ahead and make a cardboard frame and then cover it with a thin layer of clay and then sand it down. So the other day I ended up finding a skirt that I can alter for Lady Gideon, but tonight while digging through my closet for something fancy to wear this weekend I found a dress which has a bottom that works pretty well also.... so now I'm kind of stuck on which option I shouod focus on altering for the outfit.definetely go with skirt numero 2, just a bit of tweaking it, will def. help :3

The first skirt does fit a bit tighter like I was hoping, but it doesn't have the side slit like option 2..... I also think after hemming it a few inches option 2 would fit snugger like the outfit is supposed to. I dont know though, any thoughts?

@lychee: I bent it with a heat gun! I just turned the heat gun on high, softened the parts I wanted to bend and then bent it. I bent it while holding it in a circular shape, though, so it wouldn't kink.

My Lina costume has finally shown up!
Unfortunately, there's a lot of things wrong with it.
1) It's too pink; Lina's outfit is not pink, but red.
2) The neck of the shirt is too tight.
3) The waist of the shirt is way too big.
4) The yellow thing that goes around the breasts is about 5 inches too big. (It falls off and goes down to my ankles!)
5) One of the belts is too big, doing the same thing that the yellow thing does.
6) The waist of the pants is too big.
I guess that's it for the ranting, at least for now. I was hoping to have taken a picture of it, at least, but I was so frustrated with how poorly everything fit, that I didn't even try to work my camera. I'm planning on giving these guys a very negative response and finding someone who could help adjust it for me.

If you use alcohol and sharpie ink. You can always wash it in just alcohol to get the color out again.

Woo!!! Cosplay progress finally.have you tried using pins? :P that ALWAYS helps. cuz i did the exact same thing with my touko wig (but i got a ponytail instead this time and some side extensions) and i would just pin in the bottoms so my wig wouldn't be pulled up, and show my wig cap underneath :)
I styled my Touko wig and it looks super cute. The pony tail causes the wig to bunch up in the back, but my wig cap doesn't look like it's showing from the back. If it does I'll just wear my black one so it's less noticeable.
It's not noticeable though so I don't have to worry about it. I just have to give it a little elbow grease to have it sit the way it's supposed to.def NOT noticeable, but at the con, TRUST ME! walking around and running (if you are late like me XD) it will start to come up a bit, it helps it not move around too :) and i always pin my wigs to my head anyways :) so it gives it a more "close to my head" look and makes none cosplayers go "o.O is that her hair? wait... yes? noo??" lol XD

Bunny - I had it all bigger to cover my whole boob and then adjusted the sides to make it show more sideboob. I probably should cut the length down, too, huh? I just wasn't sure how much it would cover then since right now it covers just enough. I might cut at the neck (it's one strap that I can just fling over my head) and sew on a bit more length to make it a tie neck or attach hook and eye's.
As for the red, it's not shiny but the flash makes it shiny. It's actually a soft, fuzzy fabric.

I got my wig for N. It is a little brighter than I wanted but it will work. I may dye it later on to change the color a bit but I am not sure if it will work, since you can't really lighten wigs =/
Got my wigs for Stocking today from Caitlin! They're perfect <3 the blue is dark and has some strands of black and also has a plastic skin top. The pink is nice and bright, too. Both wigs are super thick. I tried them on at the same time and you can't see through either one, which is what I was looking for.Good luck. If you wigs are anything like mine you will want to chuck them out the window x.x Mine kept tangling and I thought I was going to have to scrap the whole thing. But the basic style is done now. All that is left is little nit picky details.
I just have to sew the fronts together and tim the bangs. The blue is smaller than the pink, so I might just cut a slit in the band in the back... The pink grips my head really well, but the blue is attached to the pink so why would it matter?
I also gave up and just bought another blazer for Stocking. Neither of my parents really want me doing dyeing, so whatever. The new blazer is already black and fits right, but it only has one button instead of two. I'm going to replace the button with one from the original blazer since those are more accurate. I'm also going to just sew the second button onto the blazer so that it looks like it has two button holes, and if it fits right I'll put a snap on underneath. Then I need to make the crest and sew the lace onto the sleeves and I am DONE!
I totally hit my Joanns like the Fist of the North Star today. Got $120 of fabric for $73. It's most of the fabric for Keiji (pants, one red sleeve, lining and outer for his coat thing). The linen I'm making his pants out of is in the dryer and still needs more dye (It's purple right now, it needs to be purple-brown) and the silk crepe I'm making the outer of his coat with is in the wash with some golden yellow RIT dye. The brocade I'm lining the coat thing with needs a wash with the bordeaux dye I got because it's pretty pink, but it had the flower print I wanted so once I dye it all one flat color I'm gonna go over the design with a paintbrush and bleach to make them light and orange-ish.
I can't wait to start on his sword oh my god that's gonna be the most fun part.

Parts of the crown were too lumpy and I couldn't sand them down properly, so I just put some more clay on certain spots and it's just out of the oven. I'll sand and paint it again tonight, hopefully.

Quite the opposite problem: it's too small. Now I'm not a big person, but the unforgiving PVC pants would have been the death of me. The point of the character is to be able to do dynamic poses and whatnot, and there's no way I would be able to do anything like that given how tight some aspects of the costume are. :( I would rather wait to be able to do justice to the character than try and make this work and be afraid to move or pose.
Thank you guys for your kind words, it really means a lot. I'm disappointed I won't be able to have it by Sakuracon, but it'll happen for Kumori and even sooner. It's still happening, and that makes me feel better.
Now I just need to wait for the commissioner to reply to my none-too-pleased email.

A few days ago I made a "1/8th" scale model of the skirt portion of Miku's dress. I needed to so I could figure out the cage skirt because the first measurements I took did NOT work out at all when I made a model of it. Opinions? Also need opinions about the shape of the train. Keep in mind it will have a 6 inch ruffle all the way around it and the top skirt will have a 2 inch ruffle along the bottom.I think the very end of the train is looking too boxy in your model... I think the wide rounded edges work, but the very end/center just looks too straight compared to the rest ...

It was the wrong size they sent and it had red spots on it like bleed areas. And apparently they were kind of slow to respond for the return/refund. I feel like I'm always bailing last minute, but with how busy I am and how unexperienced I am with so many aspects of costume construction it kind of just tends to happen.

So, I've taken the costume to eBay, and I'm thinking I should get my money back by the end of next week. What's weird is that I've received an e-mail from the Hong Kong-based company that made the costume 6 minutes before eBay sent me one regarding my refund. Apparently, they took my notice that I wanted a refund as incentive to make me a new costume and mail it out to me. So, it sounds as if though I might be getting my refund AND a new Lina costume. This both excites me and makes me feel like crap, too.

And also my wig for my gothic dress is being curled i found out that even if its not heat resitant i can still use low heat on a curling iron like not hot but warm ish cold it works just as well thought i kinda melted the hair on some parts it still looks amamzing and cute i got one pig tail to go.

So I am just looking at the shoulder, back and breast plate. I have a bunch of plastic that I am going to use in some part of it. I am wondering if I should cover the plastic with fabric or if I should just leave it plastic and paint the design on it. The plastic is smooth so I wont have to worry about a pattern on it like wonder flex has

I'm sooo excited about this wig. It needs cutting 'cause it's SO DARN THICK - but that's a good thing; better than too thin. And it's the first step on my way to m'dream cosplay (which is my user icon). =]
wigs look more natrual thick thought i have some thin wigs and they dont look so good like my thick onesTrudat. Although I have one single wig that's super thin (partially due to layering cut into the wig) yet totally looks and feels like real hair.

XP I might cut off my hair and do a simple Paprika for the dances and downtime though. That'll give me an excuse to skip everywhere. hahaha

it's the monkey figure from this chinese book, i've seen refrences in a lot of korean MMORG games >3> and i just checked that website and his name is called Sun Wukong. but her attire is based off of an old 80's movie named "saiyuuki". i even remember Lupin dressing up as him as well XDYes, that website says that that Saiyuki movie was from 1978. :) pretty hilarious looking movie. A bit ago people were dying wigs with RIT dye and I can't find tutorials for that x.x So I'm wondering how it's done...? If it's done like fabric and how you keep the dye from washing out so it sets properly... And if you can do it with the brand "Dylon" maybe?It won't dye it too much with RIT because RIT is for natural fibers and wigs are synthetic, also you need to take into consideration how heat resistant your wig is because you usually boil RIT with fabric, but this will melt a wig.

Completely depends on how light you want the wig to be. Just to be safe if I'm going for a weird mediumish color I'll put it in, stir it around, pull it out and rinse it in cold water and see how it looks. If it's too light then I just repeat those steps!That's a good idea! I'll try to see how the Dylon dye goes and see if it even sets in the fibers. In fact, I just looked it up a bit, and it's linked to Germany and has been for a very long time, since WAY before Hitler or the Nazi party, and Nazi-specific iron crosses have the swastika in the middle. Plus the oak leaf in the middle was made to replace the swastika after WWII since Germany didn't want to be associated with the Nazis.
And mind you, I'm half Polish with that entire half being Jews who were in concentration camps during the Holocaust, so I'm not a big fan of Nazis or anything, and I don't find that offensive in the least.

fleur - I have no doubt that anyone who actually knows what they're talking about (like you, who's familiar with Hetalia, or a historian who could no doubt point out several inaccuracies that make the medal an obvious fake) wouldn't be offended by virtue of thinking it was intended to glorify the Nazis.
But Average Joe on the street, or a news reporter, isn't going to know what they're talking about. They're going to see "someone dressed up as a Nazi with one of them there medals that looks Nazi and it's dated 1939" and think they've found the Nazi equivalent of Civil War re-enactors.
Again, I'm 99.5% sure no cosplayer would ever have the intent of glorifying the Nazis. That doesn't worry me at all. What worries me is that someone is going to eventually be mistaken as such, possibly even someone who innocently managed to get ahold of real Nazi paraphernalia and is proudly wearing it without knowing, and get themselves and/or the community some nasty publicity or worse.
Jacob - if the medal is actually from 1813, which is somewhat hard to believe given its condition, it's still not a WW1 medal. What it looks like to me is a somewhat inaccurate replica, but I'm hardly an expert historian. I just know that WW1 wasn't in 1939 or 1813.

I've heard that using a little bit of water first can help.
^ oh its horabbly evil wig that wont stay T_T so i got my super strong hair spray so I am hoping it will work and these will stay up how i want them other then that it looks goodwell what i know WORKS for sure is using a hair dryer on low heat and power, and as you blow dry the area you want to have stay in place, use a bit of hair gel (very LITTLE) and then dry it with the blow dryer, then spray the hair spray on it, and then use the blow dryer on it as you hold it in place. IT WORKS! even for the most stubborn wigs! hope this helps.

It's made out of this really pretty bridal satin, but it's heavy duty so it weighs like 5 pounds and it's only the first layer of 4 xP Just wearing this dress is gonna be a workout xDD

Found this wig for sale at 40% off from a seller I love and took it as a sign to do the cosplay. It may be a tad TOO blue, but the cheap price makes the prospect of having to dye it a bit darker not seem so bad. =]that is actually one of my favorite sellers too :3 and that is a perfect wig for her :)

Put a fabric roll in the shoulders and back to give the fur volume, and got the lining sewn into the top edge along with how I'm going to go about keeping this on myself. Can't wait to get the rest of this sewn together, I know I'm gonna end up hand-sewing SOMETHING and it's gonna suck like nobody's business but whatcanyoudo :I

Old Navy has super cheap flip-flops of a variety of colors. Fred Meyers does, too.I second this, I have two pairs of Old Navy flip flops (one in pink, one in purple) and they've held up SUPER well. Plus they're cheap!

Apparently Fuego at Pioneer Place has super cheap flower hair clips, usually I see them at Claire's for like $10 which is ridiculous, but Fuego had them for less than $3.Fuego is my go to place when I need hair accessories for a cosplay.... I ended up getting the black rose thing I needed for Chane's dress from there when I made it because like you said, it's only $3, whereas other places are at least twice as much. =]
I have a question. I have the shorts that came with the costume for Rikku and they are accurate but tight, and by tight I mean very very tight. I also bought a pair of green shorts at Fred Meyer a week ago that could work, they fit but they aren't as accurate (I will add the ruffles) so my question is which one should I use?

I actually realized that it's easy to make a pattern for the collar using the shirt pattern I have haha.I've totally done that. -_- I cut out two of the same sleeve once, as in, didn't flip the stupid thing over. Super dumb.
It took me like an hour to sew one sleeve because I sewed it inside out twice and then the third time I threaded my machine wrong and the stitches were too loose -_-
So I have one really nice sleeve and one that's totally wtf.

I can't decided what base wig to use for Euphimia...I love Arda Wigs personally, but the hiperlon fibers they use for the Claudia can be a total b**** to work with. They tangle and are almost impossible to brush, but they also hold shape very well and are easy to style. Plus the buns you're getting will match perfectly since they use the same fibers...

This is a character I love, have loved, love to cosplay, and will continue to cosplay as long as possible. Even if/when cosplay stops being part of my life, the character and fandom will not. I'm always going to love Barret.
So, I'm going to get his tattoo so that I never again have to sharpie on his tattoo every morning. Never again will I have to feel terrible about staining hotel sheets and pillows with unremovable sharpie residue. It will always be there, permanent and clean. I'm stoked. Aaaand Sailor Uranus progress. I actually have the skirt finished and the leotard partly done too, but I don't have a picture of those yet. So here's my front and back bows, my choker, collar, tiara, boots and sword, all draped over my sewing machine. I'm thinking I might want to repaint the boots to get them closer to the fabric color, since I hadn't bought the fabric when I originally painted them so they're a little off. Other than that, though, these pieces are pretty much done.

Barret's waist=guard is sealed and rivets are in place. Tomorrow I paint it silver, but I'm going to have to get some black acrylic paint to touch it up with a weathered look. Anyone have tips on weathering, by the way? (adding a tarnished look to craft foam and props).

I personally use a mix of black and dark green acrylic paint. I brush it on liberally (first in the cracks) and let it set up a bit, then wipe the excess away with a paper towel or two. Then to give the whole thing an extra bit of patina I pat the whole thing down with the paint-soaked paper towel. It leaves a little bit of transfer everywhere and makes metallic things actually look like metal.
I use liquid shoe polish for weathering. It sounds odd but works great. I open up the container and brush it on liberally then a take a paper towel to wipe it up and kinda rub it around. It isn't the most detailed weathering but I love how fast it is. Just make sure you seal it after it dries or it has a kind of tacky feel.
Drauska, you need to get some more pics up of your cross punisher. From what I saw it's much better than my first attempt.
My costume has been processed in a sorting facility in Portland last night at about 7. I should be seeing it in a couple of days!

I used the dremel to carve the pictures out and although they are far from perfect considering this is the first time I've done anything like this I'm pretty please with how they are coming along. In retrospect the moomba was too detailed for this and should have enlarged it more and maybe just done the head like the chocobo.
Mostly posting in here because of a question, I realized that I would like my Anaru wig to be a bit darker since it's hella bright so I was gonna tone it down with some brown RIT dye with the RIT dye method. The only thing I'm worried about is the wefts I made are no sew wefts, so they were made with clear drying caulk. Would it be able to stand warm water while I'm dying it? I don't want the caulk to melt and get all over my poor wig D:

So got some more progress done last night. I was abandoned in the code lyoko cosplay this year. but I wanted to do yumi anyways. and I'm really excited because all the yumi cosplayers I've seen don't have fans. so Yay! for hours of work later.
Only issue I have is that I had to use blush and eyeshadow to color it because I don't have a color sprayer or whatever its called but I think it turned out awesome. I do have to clean up the brown a little tho.

Jacob: It's so hard for me to find others who know/have read the Vampire Chronicles and even fewer who know who Bianca is, so this makes me happy. Yes, I'm wearing it to Sakuracon and probably to Kumoricon next year. Possibly for some photoshoots as well. I have a Marius and Armand that I'm doing a photoshoot with in September, actually. OMG I love my serger guys! 240 inches of blindhemming in 30 min? YES PLEASE!! I'm also going to be doing a lot of ruffling on my serger tonight too! My new leotard for Raven also came in, and I sewed down the bows on Stocking and fixed the hat.
I realized I'm out of town the week before Kumoricon, so I actually have less than a week to finish everything.
My main problem is that I somehow need to get to Fabric Depot to get more fabric for Raven's cloak along with new fabric paint for her shoes since the old kind is too bright.
Tomorrow I cast resin and try to bs my way through Raven's cloak just in case I don't have time to get more fabric ;A;

Also did you know that fabric cutting is torture when being helped by a cat?
I've been using the Mod Podge and I found out that even after it drys that it got tacky again when I used a damp rag on it to dust off before painting.
I was wondering weather i should use mod podge or packing Tape. the mod podge on the axe, packing tape on pick. also is modpodge even slightly water resistant when dry? sorry for the noob questions this is my first true build for a cosplay

Finished Barret's bullet belt today. I like it. It turned out well, and I am just thankful that I have a family friend who hunts all the time and had 12 gauge shells to spare for this project's sake (and yes, they are empty....I'm not crazy enough to bring live ammo to a convention, lol).

Yup. The vest she made from scratch, and the only pieces she has bought have been the boots and the white undershirt, both of which she modified to suit the costume. She added the frilly collar, bow and cuffs to the white shirt, and added the cuffs and buckles to the boots.It's completely radical, I'm loving the work she's done.

All I have left of the skirt for Miku is the cage skirt, cutting out the waistband, gathering and stitching the skirts to the waistband, and putting in the zipper. :) Just realized that the cage skirt is going to be going over the side that I planned the zipper on... so we'll see how that turns out. It is better to try them out now so you can get use to it. I had to practice wearing it everyday and keeping it on at least 5 hours to get use to the lens being in my eyes. I got used to it. :)
@Dubaby: That mock-up does look considerably better, I'd say. It did seem like the front was more of a buckle than actual cloth in the picture reference, so I think making it out of something solid and hard like that will end up looking a lot better.

This honestly would have looked better without the weathering, I think. It looks so bad, especially on the handle. I think I'm going to just repaint the whole thing because seriously.
I HAVE A SKIIIIRIRRRRRTTTT!!! So happy to be done (well, mostly). I still need to do some hand sewing stuff on the cage skirt, and I might tack the train underneath so it is more forward on the sides. I'm also going to be putting lace applique all over the place, and I have a bunch of bows to make to go down the left side. I'm going to work on the corset tomorrow though, give the skirt some rest. alright finally done with this sword. This is a record time for me from conception to completion and I have to say I'm damn proud of this work. There are a few areas that aren't as perfect as i would like but a lot of it has to do with the fact that I was rushing it and didn't take as much time as I could have otherwise.

A big thanks to EveofAbyss, if it wasn't for him I probably wouldn't have gotten this thing done, or I would have settled for something I wasn't happy with. I had a bit of a freakout over how my previous attempts at the belt turned out, and he was the one person who gave me real constructive advice on what to do, and actually got me out of my "fabric" mindset and looking at alternative options (granted I didn't end up going with craft foam, but it got me on the right track!) I'm really thankful to these forums, and users like him, because honestly without it I would have been feeling really unenthused about this whole outfit/situation. If I see you at con expect lots of smiles and a big hug!!!! =]

I'm trying to decide if putting them in the freezer would make them set faster...
I know room temp/warm, dry, flowing air makes glue and many other misc objects dry faster. Key word, flowing. If you could put them in front of like.. a fan or something I think would speed them up. All resins that I am familiar with set slower at colder temperatures or may not set at all if it's too cold so I would advise against it.
