Ok, I had this idea.
I love watching scary movies, but I need someone's lap to cuddle in. My friends aren't very cuddly, and you guys are. So I thought, maybe, friday night, we could watch a scary movie.

When?
Friday night. At 9:00 pm we will start Prom Night, and after that we'll watch Silent Hill. If you know how long each of these movies last, or if you own them, please PM or just post here. Sound good? Good.
We'll meet in the lobby around 8:45, look for Botan. I'm pretty obvious!

It's the movie that the Grudge is pattern after; a Japanese horror film.

There's a problem about Friday though; not everyone is staying Friday. I probably am not, though I'll be there for a while fro pre-reg and the FF/KH party.

Typically, nice hotels do.. and this particular one has a 37-inch plasma in every room. But double-checking can't hurt.

That is a problem... so would saturday be a better choice, or should we have it at like 9:30 or something on friday so people could make it home?

I called the hotel they said that they do not, because you can't hook DVD players up to the flat screens.
Could we still hook up a playstation to one? I'm guessing so.
I have one, and one of my friend's who will be staying in my room does too, so we will have one.

Lmao. Can't hook up DVD players to flat screens.. that's like saying anime isn't a cartoon.. it does not compute. (Biggest joke I've heard in a long time, being that I used to work at an electronics retailer, and there's literally 3-4 different ways to plug a DVD player into any LCD or plasma TV)

But chances are if they say no, then there's no way to hook one up. There's a pretty good chance their stuff is hard-mounted and would be impossible to move to get to the back to plug in your own devices.

Also, if this is something I end up attending.. any day works. I have no particular 'plans' per say, for the con, other than walking around and hoping my cosplay this year is more recognized and appreciated than my costume from last year. XD

At this point, there's about a 50/50 chance. If I, or any other tech savvy person, could look at the TV in one the hilton rooms, we'd know if we could hook up a DVD player within a minute or two.

It's just not possible to be sure without checking out how they've got their TVs set up in their rooms.

Edit: If only it were easier to get my 42" LCD TV there, it wouldn't be an issue. XD

Does anyone have a portable DVD player we could use as a last resort? Or a laptop. xD It sounds like a lot of people would be crammed into one room though. (Which sounds even more fun in my opinion)

If that's possible, then a DVD player would be an easier solution to the same problem. We just don't know if it'll be possible to hook up anything to the TV.

Edit: But it's very possible with an S-video cable; though you'll also need a 3.5mm male to male headphone jack if we want audio on the TV too. Sadly, S-video only does video, so if we dont have the audio cable, it'd be picture on the TV, sound from the laptop.

I have a PS2, my friend Erin has a PS2, you can hook it up to friggen anything with the litttle red, yellow and white things.
My Dad owns an car audio store, and he has speakers by the thousands. If all else fails, and we do end up hooking a laptop up to the tv, we have speakers that could make it loud enough.

Sorry Griff, maybe I just think it's awkward to cuddle with you.

I've called 2 of my room mates, and they thought it was a great idea. One is just asking that there be someone who is just as scared as she is, AKA about to cry the entire movie (I'm sorry, I'm not giving her much credit right now, but scary movies are her weak point).

The other 2 are constantly online, so I'll email them.

If we planned on this, I could bring my computer speakers.. two small speakers attached to a subwoofer 2/3 the side of my desktop. If I can fit it in my backpack.. lol

And I can watch any scary movie I want. Don't cha worry about that Nikki. If it becomes too scarring, I can always burrow in Rachel's lap. (Yes, Rachel, you are the chosen one). Then there are other peoples that might want to watch a less scary movie. I personally don't care, and will most likely be poking fun at it, but there are people that might not want to watch movies that are way too scary. Maybe we could watch a less scary movie, and then watch a scarier one later.

That could work. The room is semi-small (I'm assuming) and although we might be screaming, it'll be for the most part quiet.

Not really an issue.. these speakers can get LOUD. On the little on/off/volume knob, there are 6 little notches around it.. when it's off, it's on one notch, when I turn it on, normally I listen to it at the 1st notch it hits when turned on.. if I want really loud music, I hit the 2nd notch. There's 2 and a half more notches after that.. if we had it up all the way, we'd probably get complaints from nearby rooms.

Also, subwoofer with adjustable treble and bass. If we do use a laptop and my speakers, I can guarantee volume wont be an issue.

Possibly.. but I'd also take into consideration the rooms above and below as well. Although, hotels are built pretty well, so noise for the people up/down one floor shouldn't be too much of an issue if the bass isnt all the way up.

There's most likely not.. not very many LCD/Plasma TVs have front plug-ins these days, if any at all, and definitely not the bigger ones. Typically they do have plug-ins on the side, but we still don't know if we'll have access to the sides or back.
