Cosplay emergency; I tore my dress, can't fix it, we had to get one that isn't perfect like the other one, my hat is too big, and I cannot use the wig I have because the dye doesn't come out! Anyone know a fast-cheap place to get a pink wig!! ;A;

I'm planning Sync. Kaito for next year, but the outfit would be really easy to make, so I could easily do it ^^ The hardest part would be the contacts, and those outfits NEED the awesome eyes!

How do you guys know how to pose in photos that mirror a Vocaloid's personality? I can't find information on the Vocaloids and who they are anywhere, just that they're singing software and have pretty costumes.

I want to know because I may plan a costume in the future for Vocaloid, but for now I honestly can't get into it because I don't know how they would act and I need to know character personalities to cosplay them effectively. D=

I had alot of the same questions and curiosity when I started cosplaying the Vocaloid Haku (my avitar). I found a couple useful sites that had some background info like this one: http://vocaloid.wikia.com/wiki/Original_Vocaloid_Characters
You can type in a vocaloid name in the search bar and it brings up a bio on that character.
I used that and tons of reference photos to make my cosplay.

As for movement, the only real examples I've seen are in music videos on Youtube. I searched on the character I wanted (Haku in my case) and got to see some nice song and dance pieces.
The Vocaloids are basically performers so I pattern my cosplay on that premise for movement. My character Haku is known for being sad, drinking Sake and not being really good at singing & dancing like the others so I work that in as well.(I don't have to fake the "not good part")

I do wonder if someone will do an anime type show with them as they're so popular.

But for some reason when I look up the original Vocaloids (Miku, Kaito, Gakupo, etc.) it only talks about the technical aspects of them, rather than their personalities. If I were to cosplay as one of the originals, how would I know?

Yeah I also encountered a lack of info. I got lucky with that site but as you've probably noticed most information seems to be generated by fan discussions and my sense is that most of the personalities are also fan made, not the creation of the software engineers. I doubt they spent alot of time on that part.
Obviously I could be wrong and if there is an official personality profile by Yamaha I'd love to see it.

Good luck on your quest. I think researching the backgrounds of your characters is part of the fun of cosplay.

Well it seems we might try to pull it together some time after S-con. So most likely it will be done for Kcon next year. Or earlier just so we can have some fun with it. :3

And I'm kind of planning on not doing Sync Luka anymore considering, I don't have much left of a group anymore. >_>

We think it's black-out fabric that's for curtians...It was given to us, and I just loved what it did, and thought it was perfect for his coat ^^
