I moved 10 miles further away from Portland, and it now takes me an hour longer to get there from here. I don't get it, but that is what happens now.

Did you realize that they are repaving I-5 with asphalt? The freeway is originally concrete.

Is it me, or does that seem like a cheap fix?

Thanks to snow tires, asphalt is a better deal than concrete. You don't have to tear up the whole freeway to do a re-pave job. Because if you are going to have to do it every 5 years, better to use cheaper stuff.

Nutria were introduced during the 1950s as a form of a home business (aka, raise the animals and sell to companies to make pelts). However the nutria fur market became so saturated, the animals couldn't even be given away. So many escaped and others were released into the wild.

Nutria by the way, are native to South America. When you have Nutria....you will not have Beavers in the NW.

Sorry, I guess that was more then just one random fact.

water soluble vitamins include the B's,C,
fat soluble vitamins include A,D,E,beta-carotene, which is why is is not a good idea to take too many of these, they do not flush out of your system so readily as the water solubles.

-If a cat falls from a 4rd story window it has a better chance of landing on their feet than a 2nd story window.
-all cat's have retractible claws except the Cheetah
-Cat's have little 'mirror things' in the back of their eyes that relfect light and allow them to see in the 'dark'...it's also why cats eyes look like they glow sometimes
-No two Ocelots look a like (like zebras or fingerprints)

Wouldn't the wind resistance limit it's potential acceleration?

Pi, sure it does, but it is converting over one thousand feet of potential energy into kinetic energy. Plus, like a weather vane, the quarter is going to fall with the least wind resistance over such a long fall, and not fall face up or down. It's still probably doing about 200 mph, and that is more than enough to send a piece of straw clear through a telephone pole, as happens during tornadoes.

Pi, you should stop by Blackjack Fireworks and get a large enough mortar shell that will travel more than 1,000 feet up and will dislodge the quarter from that height, that should work. 'cause I don't think that building is anywhere near high enough. Now to just track the quarter.

Au is gold for aurum. BOth I believe are the latin names for the metals.

You are right about Gold's name derived from the Latin "Aurum".

In latin grammar, it technically does not matter where you place your verb. Though typically you place it at the end if you are talking about one object/person.

I took Marine ecology in high school and I really liked it (except when we had to identify 20 different clams visually. they're so. freaking. the. same) so I toyed around with the idea of majoring in it (I'm a college sophomore right now). BUT, I just like the biology/animals part of it, not all the physics/wavemotion part so I decided not to XD. So I just obsess over sea creatures for fun!
