That sounds fun. Since I couldn't go to the festival, maybe I can make it to this.

If I can go, I'll be there in my Shadow cosplay. ^_^

Indeed, I agree. I'm having debates about whether or not I should go to Kumoricon this year, so I think it'd be fun to meet some people who'd be attending, to make it more worthwhile. I don't know alot of the people who attend Kumoricon, so I'd love to meet more of you guys!

I don't remember if this was the Sakura Fesitival or not, but I hope that it doesn't shower like it did last year. Nice and dry, clouds build up, cold cold downpours follow. It was sad.

Alright alright, I'll try to save up some money, so I can go! I didn't have much fun last year due to a roommate dispute. See my roomie was supposed to pay 1/3 of the room, and ended up only giving me like.. 20$ for the entire weekend. Told me he didn't have enough money. So I'm hoping to avoid that situation again.

Does anyone know if Sambi's has opened up again? I hope so. If there is a K-Con meet up at the Sakura Fesitival, we MUST go to Sambi's... I don't think they moved that far away from Uwajimaya... Don't remember *looks at clock* Been up all night.

Total Mini Moni fan.
Want to hear my claim to MM fandom?

I imported Mini Moni, The Great Cake Adventure DVD without a zone free DVD player. it took me a week to get the right program on my computer and it still has no english subtitles.

It's an awesome movie though, I just kinda wish I knew what was going on some of the time. (we should probably make a Mini Moni thread....)

I sent out a Pocky Club email to notify everyone of the event. I'm definitely going to be there and if there's enough of us it will become our Post-Sakuracon meeting!

OOOH! Is the movie subbed, because I know like..0 Japanese. XD Sorta. We should make a mini moni Strawberry Pie cosplay, because I totally love Aibon/Nono's waitress costumes! Oh and have giant Strawberry plushes. AND APPLES. Yes. Sorry. Cosplay giddy. XD

I'm getting so excited about all this, I think I'll totally go to Kumoricon, because you guys seem like a really fun reason! (before I was really doubtful because of the stress and friends/drama stuff. But you guys are making me have hope in Kumoricon and friends and YAY)

All I really know about Mini Moni is that it was formed by Mari Yaguchi, and was girls who were under 150cm tall. It originally was Mari Yaguchi, Ai Kago, Tsuji Nozomi, & Mika Todd. In 2003 Mari Yaguchi left Mini Moni and was replaced with Ai Takahashi, lifting the under 150cm rule a bit, as Takahashi was 153cm.  Mika Todd was replaced Mari Yaguchi as the leader. In May of 2004, Mika graduated to study music in America. Ai Kago & Nozomi Tsuji graduated from Morning Musume, and formed w(double you), and Ai Takahashi remains in Morning Musume.
For the time being. Mini Moni is disbanded.

Currently, Ai Kago is under indefinate suspension for being caught smoking underaged. W's latest single/album releases have been cancelled.
Tsuji Nozomi has possibly been placed in another sub group of Morning Musume, to remind fans that she isn't "Just the other half of W"

Information gathered from various sources, but mostly from
http://wiki.theppn.org/Mini_Moni

Hope that helped a bit.

That there is some big news. Well, odds are, I'll be up there with a few of my friends for the event.

I know that there is a K-Con meet up there, but I'd like to take it one step further and start gathering people now to head out to either the new restaurant there (can't remember it's name, I JUST went for the first time in a few months earlier today) or, if Sambi's is open again (shouldn't be too far from Uwajimaya) sometime during the festival... Either during or right after. I've been CRAVING some good ol' Cali Rolls.

Either one you prefer. Personally I love seeing cosplay anywhere, and everywhere, so I'd vote for cosplay over just kitty ears. But I love kitties, and kitty ears would make me squee. XD (I'm really indecisive,  so I'm prohbably the WORST person to ask for advice..lol)

ok so what happens at this festival? what are the hours there is a kc booth? i work in eugene 630a to noon, but depending on what else is going on in my life at the time, i would consider going up after that, to help at the kc booth and otherwise network, especially if anyone else could give me a ride up from eugene....anyone?

I'm not gonna cosplay. I need a new Obi and under garments for the 4+ Kimonos I own. I have a really awesome red/pink one that would be perfect, but it's hung up on my wall. XD My gold/yellow/white one looks sooo good with the Gold obi, but I don't have the understuff or the socks (I lost my tobi socks and my zori hurt my feet). Lol, Complain.

I'll just be in regular clothing like a looser. :/ I'll have my Totoro backpack? -shrugs- I'll try and bring Pocky for you guys. <3

Hey there!

I'm going to be there for sure!
I'm hoping to get some sort of costume, I only have the fuku and that's a little much. I know! I'll come as Mario!

Anyway, I'm trying to organize ANOTHEr get together in the Portland Area on Friday night because Silent hill premieres this week!

I'm making another post on that though...

But what time should we all meet up and hang out? Jaz obviously wants to go to the Kendo Demo., ( I wana see it too!)

Maybe we could met up... like half an hour or so before, have lunch and hang out? ^_^

I'd love to get to talk with all of you at the Festival. I'd like to get there at about 12:30pm, because that Kendo demonstration sounds like fun. I'll be sure to bring a digital camera!

sakura is the "Cherry Blossom Tree" a non fruiting relation to the Cherry Tree we know.  They go into Bloom this time of year in japan and it is a big whoop ta do.

I think the first time I went to this festival was either in '03 or '04.. I can't really remember. I've only been once, and it was pretty interesting. I attempted to go in cosplay, but due to a last minute stepping-out-of-the-car-and-having-the-velcro-holding-my-dress-together-come-off
issue happen, it wasn't a very good experience. I'm hoping that this year will be much better, as my almost-done Shadow cosplay that I'll be wearing is velcro free. (Thank goodness..)

Anyways, I'm hoping that I'll see some of you there! I'm going to try and make it in time for the Kendo demonstration, and hopefully I'll get a chance to talk to some of you!

I'll be going with two of my best buds ... I will also be cosplaying, too. It's my outfit from the last Kumori-con so i'll be easy to recognize. :3 I cut my hair very short though, I may look like a Japanese school boy in drag -- !

What time does it start, though .. ?

None of you fear! Your local K-Con Weatherman is keeping his eyes on the forecast models to see how it's looking for the Sakura Festival. Right now, it's looking to be partly cloudy and highs in the low to mid 60s. Looking nice. Things may change though, accuracy this far out is low at best.

Unfortunately I know of no way to get a table out there in time, or a canopy. I know some people with a tarp though. and you could always buy a lawn table from Freddies with a parasol in the middle. Maybe I could help contribute since I get paid that Friday. Hmmmmm.... I could use some porch funiture......

So I suggest that Pcoky Clubbers try and get there at noon so that we can hang out and eat before the kendo demonstration. I'll be leaving later in the afternoon for some gaming stuff (especially since I plan on seeing Silent Hill late on Friday night) but I plan oin being there around 11 or so.

I'll be going on Saturday! As for where to meet? Uhmm...Kinokunya?
I won't be hard to spot, I'll be wearing lots of red, and carrying a basket of strawberries(fake of course)
And of course, near someone in a banana suit.
Now I know what time the festival starts, so I'll probably try to get there somewhat early. (it's gonna be fun wearing the costume I'm wearing on the bus, and max train, and walking from the station to Uwajimaya)
I'd say more, but ACK thunder! Must disappear!

I was thinking about going by MAX, but I heard you have to take lots of normal busses to Uwajimaya. Is it difficult ... ?

No it's not, take the MAX to Beaverton Transit Center and hop the 54, or if you're in SE Portland take the MAX to Mall/SW 5th Ave and hop the 54 in that direction (I'm Tri Met bound, so I know lots of different ways to use the system).

I've never actually hopped onto the 54 to get to Uwajimaya. I ride the 20 from my apartments to the Gresham Trandit center, and ride the blue line to Beaverton Transit Center, and then walk the rest. lol. I guess now I know which bus to ride. XD

It's getting close. The rain chances are being pushed back to later Thursday (last time I checked, which was last night) but Saturday looks to be pretty good.

Personally, I'm against going out to lunch before the Kendo demonstrations... That puts a time limit on eating and just hanging out with the K-Con group. It should be held afterwards so we all don't feel quite as pressured to make it. Besides, the demonstrations shouldn't last that long, it'd still be early afternoon.

The 54 from Portland stops right across the street from Uwajimaya, the 54 to Portland stops less than half a block away from Uwajimaya.

i vote for after kendo also because people always arive late, and then they haven't eatten yet then theres two lunchs; and its a good meeting spot, and i agree with neko n company   vote cuz i don't know how early and dont want to have to rush to the to the kendo demonstration, we want to get good spots to see  :D
on a seprate note, I'm  starting to bend i think i'll wear my sakaki outfit from azumanga daioh, its not very good but you know we don't get a chance to dress up often you know? i have to every so often or else i get weirder and start to act out
so yeah i'll cosplay (and feel like i'm gonna puke till i see more then three people in cosplay )

superjaz3p - While I'm not the biggest fan of the show (by no means is it terrible) my girlfriend is and is, I believe, a huge Sakaki fan. So for her sake I want you to wear the costume... For my sake I'll have to drill a hole into my head because undoubtedly my girlfriend is going to sing the opening song. -_- Thank goodness for CD players.

So lunch after Kendo demos? Cool with me. Does anyone know the prices of the restaurant and if they have/their California Rolls are as good as Sambi's were?

Ouuu, I'll be there early then. I went to Orland, FL, and I went to Epcot Worl Show case (Where I got my first Kimono) and my mom looooves Taiko.

Yay! ^_^ I ca'nt wait to see everyone again. Yay for Pcoky Club and stuffs!

Oh, a question, is it okay if we just hang around the Kumoricon booth? XD Because I have a feelnig I'm gonna be hangin' around the booth for a while waitin' for people to arrive.

That would be great to meet up at the Kumoricon booth. ^_^ I probably won't get there until about 12:30-1:00. And it looks like the Kendo demonstration isn't until 1:30, so that gives me a little extra time to get there. I'm still trying to get two of my friends to go. I sure hope they can make it.. I don't want to go alone. ;-;

DAMN! I have something planned for that day! I might be able to make it, but it would be after 2pm probably. If I happen to be there I will be wearing the top half of a black and purple sailor fuku, and probably the black fullmetal alchemist hat that I practically live in

Forecast is still looking good. The rain is slated to start tomorrow (Thursday) and the chances stay alive until Friday... Leaving Saturday in the low-mid 60s under partly cloudy skies.

Here's the forecast from the Portland National Weather Service...

Saturday: Areas of morning clouds and patchy fog otherwise sunny. . Highs around 65. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

I like that forecast... Except that Sunday's looks zounds better...

Sunday: Mostly sunny. Highs 70 to 75. Northeast wind 5 to 15 mph.

I almost feel robbed. Hopefully they're wrong and Saturday hugs the 70 degree mark.

...How many of us are going? This is going to be a huge meet up apparently... I'm guessing 20 to 30 people.

I'll be there too. If you want to find me I'll be wearing a pair of bright red plastic trousers that have holes in them and garrish pink ribbons drooping around my knees. I will hop on one foot during all hours that are odd and I'll be skateboarding during all hours that are even. I'll be carrying a large Stalin plushie and wearing a fake mustache from the hours of 2-4. I will also smell of stinky fish, because I will be wearing an authentic Great White Shark as a hat. Hope to see you guys there!  8)

I'm still hoping to be there, even though it looks like I might not even be able to afford to. :sigh: But I'll be there. (And I'll be giving out the Mini Moni Documents to the first 10 people who ask me about it) I'll be wearing mostly red, and near a banana suit.. And I'll have a basket of strawberries. Fake ones. Covered in glitter

I live out in Milwaukie... The joys of being unemployed and poor... They never cease to amaze me.

Who knows if I need a ride or not, I might have one, I might not. I just hope my friend got my messages that I left for him to see if he can take me and my girlfriend.

She's coming in her half finished Asuka Langley Sohryu cosplay... Namely, she'll be wearing her yellow sundress that she wore last K-Con.

As for myself, I'll be wearing cut-off Khaki shorts, probably my dark Chinese Dragon over-shirt and a white t-shirt... And will have headphones on.

That was wicked awesome. I enjoyed the first Taiko group as well. The food was everywhere. I wasn't even hungry and I kept eating things left and right! *_* I blame that stupid wind.....it kept blowing the smells over to me whenever the yakisoba guy started cooking.

And then I went on an eating adventure...I picked out something from inside the store. Couldn't read any of the label and I didn't recognize it by sight....not even sure what it was after eating it, but it was sweet and yummy!

It was really nice meeting you people from the forums. I know I didn't say anything at all (pretty much), but I'm just not good at making new friends. I get so nervous and shy and klutzy. Gah!

I was very flustered getting my picture taken, and now I'm regretting not getting my picture taken with the Mario cosplayer who was there (I was too embarrased to walk up and ask).

All in all it was very fun!

I can't wait for Kumoricon now!!!!! :D

Oh...haha, I didn't get my picture taken because I was cosplaying or anything. I was dressed in normal clothes, with a small black cap, a dark brown button up shirt, a neon green tank top, jeans and flip-flops. I got my picture taken by the gals running the booth because I entered into and got third place in the mascot contest. Lol. I didn't really stand out in the crowd much. ^^;

I guess I'll write a report about it...

Sakura Festival at Uwajimaya Event Report.

Day 1. Saturday.

I had the pleasure of staying up all night the night before... Anyone who saw me probably noted that I looked dead tired. There's no thrill in life like playing Super Mario Kart for two or three hours just to stay up so you don't miss a few important things.

Anyways, right around 11am I leave my house to head down to the post office to send some stuff that needed to be sent pretty much ASAP. When I get down to the post office in Milwaukie... It was closed -_- Great... Well, after finding out the one in Milwaukie was closed, I went to the one in Oak Grove. It was open so everything was hunky dory, problem is this made me late when it came to getting to the Sakura Festival.

I get back home and my ride to the event was there already. I grab a few (un)necessary things, two 2 liters of Pepsi, my collection of CDs and my CD player and we head out to pick up my girlfriend who decided to wear her Asuka Langley Sohryu costume.

After picking her up we back tracked a little to pick up another friend of ours, she was wearing a pink kimono with a yellow... Obi... I think that's the name of it. After a few minutes, we leave for the event at... This was around 12:30.

On the way there, I decided it'd be fun to head bang to what was in the stereo of the car... I'm surprised I was able to do it for as long as I did though. We arrive at the Festival around 1-ish, drop my girlfriend and our other friend off and drive off to find a parking space, which we were lucky enough to find in a short amount of time.

When we (my friend and I) get to the event, we spend the first few minutes looking for the K-Con booth... To find that it was a tent (which was pretty sweet if you ask me.) Both of us just sort of hang around the tent for an hour without really saying anything, just sort of "menacing" I suppose. Eventually my friend (Smith) decided to introduce himself to the people working the booth (forgot who it was at that time... My memory is teh suckz right now) and we all chat for a little bit.

Honestly, I came with the hopes that there was going to be a group luncheon thing at the restaurant that was there. The luncheon did happen, but not with as many people as I had hoped and pretty much no one I don't know and consider a friend. It was still fun nonetheless and the food was both inexpensive and really good. Restaurant there definately did not leave me with a bad impression.

A few more things happened, such as headbanging some more at the K-Con tent to the band that was playing. Getting... Spindrift, I believe it was, some yakisoba (or whatever those people in the tent were making that smelled so good) and a bit of restaurant shenanigans.

We leave around 4:30-5-ish so we can attend another event, all with fairly good memories of the event and glad that we got to talk to everyone that we did. I still need to sign up for the convention though -_-

Props:
Meeting some K-Con people
Hanging out for a short time in the tent
Con chair's blue hair O_o
Staying up all night
Playing Super Mario Kart
Eating at that restaurant whose name escapes me
Headbanging
Girlfriend cosplaying my favorite character
Restaurant shenanigans
Gorgeous day
Yakisoba tent
And more I doubt I can remember because of...

Slops:
Being an idiot and staying up all night
Going crazy after doing bad at Tetris Attack and Mario Kart
...Warm... Flat... Pepsi... It tasted like chocolate >.>
Incorrectly predicting the weather (I predicted partly cloudy skies and highs in the mid-60s. Got the temperature about right, but it was crystal clear and blustery too.)
Being broke
Yakisoba tent (nothing like having a wasp chase you around >.> Not to mention that the tent itself made me hungry.)
Not signing up for the convention
Headbanging (fun as it was, I have a wicked headache and my neck is killing me already)
Me being an idiot for a number of reasons
Kylite for not feeling good
Anyone else who couldn't come for various reasons, ain't hating y'all, just saying it'd been cool if you came, even if I didn't know you

Overall, an awesome event. I wish it wasn't just ONCE a year... But I believe we have a couple more Uwajimaya events that happen this year, specifcally the Uwajimaya festival that happens in October or something like that.

Alright peeps, I'm sort of out... Lates.

...Warm... Flat... Pepsi... It tasted like chocolate >.>

That's all I have to say. Stuff was nasted but I did drink it down, a liter of flat warm Pepsi, not the greatest thing on Earth.

Doh I skipped a line of your report when I saw the word tetras.

Mmmm warm flat Pepsi.

Rich, thick, delicious, nutritious, life giving Pepsi, nectar of the gods, sweet brown ambrosia!

You said you took two what happened to the other?

One time on the way to shoot things we stopped at the store and I came out with two 2 liter Pepsi bottles nestled in my arms like tender babies and my friend Pheasant Head waited until we were in the parking lot full of country bumbkins to point and shout  “Look Dan has a pair of Jugs”

HI guys! Sakura Festival was a blast!  Hatake, I also got a sunburn, not on my face because I had spf in my face lotion but on the side of my neck and my chest, it really hurts too and I am not quite sure how it happened because my shirt was not at all low cut.

Let's see who did I meet, yukimizu and her friend who is not on the forums but wore a banana costume, Megumi, Megan, Heidy, Daxe, Xaam, NEKO-CHAN!, Super jaz although we already met once, Seraph, Yamcha and his girlfriend and Smith, Tom, giant stick of Pocky, hmm.. There were many others too and I want to thank you all for making the day memorable!

Let's see what sots of things did I experience:
Ramune for the first time
Fishy waffles
Green Tea pocky
Yummy gyoza
Mint water!
Being given shoes by Heidi
Wearing cat ears and not being laughed at
Giving lot of huggies, those always make a day better
Fun arts and crafts time with Megan
Watching the fishy game, that was sad yet interesting
Meeting the wonderful con staffers who very immediately accepting
Really good karate demonstrations
Gawking at the incredibleness which is uwajimaya
and being in Beaverton for the first time!

Vondan, I believe there may have been some eligible aunties in the crowd but I am not positive as to whether we convinced them to make it to the con.

Damn I stayed in Eugene to work, although I did take the time to e-mail “some one“ who meets ALL my requirements about using the Shakespeare tickets I have and “collaborating” on a art project.  But damn it she may have gotten a BF in the 2 weeks since I thought I should ask her out.  She looked too nerdy to actually talk to a man damn it.  Should have asked her to the Sakura Fest 3 weeks ago, if I had been all cranked up on Pepsi I would have but no soda in 7 weeks.

@ Leashy

*Looks through photos* OMG!! You were the one who took the photo of me!! *glomps* It was so much fun talking with you and the other gal you were running the booth with. (I'm sorry I'm not sure what her name is..) And you gave me free Pocky! That was so funny hearing someone yell, "Catgirl!" at me. ^_^ Thanks for making my visit to the Sakura Festival memorable!

..I look stoned in that picture. XD

I had such a fun time! At first I was really nervous about arriving and looking like I was the only one in cosplay, but after awhile I just got into it. I had two older adults stop me and ask me why I was dressed in a costume. So I briefly tried to explian the term 'cosplay'. I also had another person (Besides Leashy) recognize me and ask for a picture. (Which made my day as well!) I also had this woman and her son stop me and asked why I was dressed as a 'kitty'. (I'm not supposed to be a 'kitty' but whatever..) I then replied that I was supposed to be a 'hedgehog'. The woman then replied with, "Oh! Like Sonic. You're supposed to be the other one." I then nodded. The woman then said, "Oh, but you walk so slow." I then just pointed to my black boots and said, "Well... it's not easy to walk around in these."

I also had some shaved ice! It was so good. ^^ The only problem was that I couldn't really take off my gloves, because it takes me forever to get them on. So I'm sitting down and eating my shaved ice really carefully. I was relieved that I didn't get any on my gloves or white fur.

It was cool to see other people in cosplay as the day went on. I had to convince my FMA-crazed friend to go take a picture of the Greed cosplayer, as well as the Edward and Alphonse cosplayers. She's so shy! ^_^

Overall it was a great experience! I loved every minute of it. And now I'm all psyched for the con.

What really sucks is I still don't know who a lot of you were. It's hard to match up forum people and real-life people. Of all you guys hanging around the tent, I don't know who's who! I know the Publicity people, and Tom's kind of hard to miss, but that is all. And I wanted to meet someone who wanted to be our charity auction manager this year, but never figured out who it was or if she even showed.

But the sun made Meg's freckles come out, she looked so kawaii!

oishii, was that you with the PSP? I remember Yamcha headbanging, but didn't understand why.

I was wearing my t-shirt that said "I am ninja, you can't see me" on it, so you didn't see me :)

Not really, I just didn't hang out at the booth the whole time, really only between doing other stuff.

I was doing just for the heck of it... Also because it isn't often that I believe my hair is long enough to actually get a kick out of doing it.

I believe I saw you there guspasho, then again, it's all little more than a dream to me right now. You were wearing sunglasses, right? If so, I was wondering why in the world you were being ridiculously quiet. If it was you, I thought that you were ticked off about something, you looked mad.

In picture 46/49 (in Leashy's Yahoo photo thing...) that is my friend Asia in the foreground (Pink Kimono) and my girlfriend "Dizzy" in her awesome Asuka Cosplay.

In picture 48/49, behind Shadow... Is me. You can see the back like, 1/8th of my body... The only way you can tell that's me is from the cut off khaki shorts.

I have to give this event another thumbs up... People recognized my girlfriend as Asuka instead of the girl from Rahxephon... I think at the last K-Con 3 people knew she was Asuka out of how many people went? At the Sakura Festival... I believe more people recognized her out of the what? 50 K-Con attendees that went? That boosted her confidence in her costume.

You're Greed! My friend thought you were just awesome. But she was so shy to go over and talk to you. I barely got her to go over there and take your picture. Your costume was great! =D

*Hits self* D'oh.. I knew they were an Edward and an Alphonse. Why in the heck did I type that? *fixes*

It was so awesome meeting people and hanging out around the tent. I loved Megumi's hair and the two girls with cat ears *I'm horrid with names, sorry* Everyone there amazed me and you were all so nice! I registered and am all set and ready to go to Kumoricon!

@ leashy,
thanks for posting the album i had wanted to barrow my moms digital but wasn't able to, and i had told my friends in japan i'd take a pic of my boyfriend at the festivel and you got one of him in the kendo pictures! yay kendo boyfriend!
hes the blonde in the far right with the sunglasses in pic 45
and i'm the one in pic 28 looking like i was gonna cry but i was just asking where i could drop off the stuff for the katamari ball and squinting from the sun, too bad you didnt get one in my sakaki cosplay, for those who didn't reconize me i was in the pink top and brown skirt
i liked the kendo demonstration, especaly the sisters who fought they were so cute, chibi kendo!
@Vondan, i do happen to know there was one nerdy aunt there, as i met her at easter, a distane relative of my boyfriends cousin, i met her nieces and told them about it and she brought them, my boyfriend said i couldn't tell she was nerdy just because she went to k-con, lots of peope bring there kids, but as she actualy registerd and watched the cosplay skits, where most parents just bring there kids and watch tv, she also make her nieces outfits

I know, I was disappointed that I didn't get a picture of you in your cosplay or a picture of the kendo demonstration on stage, I was kinda tuckered out by that point.  I do have another picture of you and your boyfriend looking like off to the side or something, I will send it when I get home, it's nothing special though, I tried to be discrete when I took my picture but I realize now that I should have asked more people to pose haha.  Anyway, right.  I'm glad that I got a picture of your friend and that everyone is enjoying the pictures

The Hello Kitty glompage was priceless but it was indoors, and Daxe had our camera at the time. We went around taking picture with the disposable camera we had with us...we took a lot of pictures of the karate and kendo and taiko drummers, maybe we could find a way to post those as well? You'll have to ask Daxe, he's the man with the plan. And anyways, its his camera. Alls I know, we pretty much captured the demonstrations on stage.

It was so fun meeting all of you people, but I tended to meet most of you from a distance....Gah! I need to get over my shyness.  :?

@ Leashy

I'll totally be at the May meeting! I can't wait to see the site where it'll all go down.

@Vondan

I've always wondered....why the aunt fetish? Will a cousin who is about your age still work? Trust me, she is very nerdy. More of the Star Trek and books type nerdy, but definantly someone I could picture going to K-con.

And I also have a moderately hot, somewhat mentally stable, very available freind of the family who would looove to come and meet you I'm sure.

Aunts are the most obvious relation my age the kids on the forum would have.   With work I never get out to meet any single Nerdetts my age.  The women who seem interested, I’m not interested in.  Friends always want to fix me up with some ones cousin who is/was a party girl.  A women keeps comming into my shop every other week, my friend Nanny G suspects she is breaking stuff on purpose to meet me but she is a single mom.   I get mildly retarded girls asking me to ask them out and a crazy neighbor girl was following me all over asking if I had a GF or a wife cause she came to America to find a husband (I first noticed her talking to street signs).  My favorite nerdy girl on the bus I saw buying a pack of cigarettes.  My favorite Goth-nerdy sandwich girl got drunk and got a tattoo.  I get “Dancers” offering me “Favors” as payment for repairs (I must be gay I took the cash).

The one time there was a woman over 30 at the anime club, I was talking to her after outside the comic store when I asked what she did she said she worked in a library and then looked into my eyes and said “You could call me a libraian”.   I was about to ask her to marry me or to get ice cream at DQ 50 feet away, another kid from anime club walks up and wont stop talking about his D&D character and just would not stop and she left and never came back to the club meetings.

Star Trek nerdish is good I have patterns for Lt Ohura's outfit, I wish they had a Trek Con or any other Sci Fi con in town more then once every 10 years. And when I recently moved I had 30 boxes of books.

Hot does not mater to much to me, most of the ladies I think are adorable I point them out to friends and they call dogs even Nanny G makes fun of them (she is the one who would slug me in the tummy if I look at college age girls).  Mentally stable is really good, I was married once but she had “Problems” before I meet her and even though with my support seemed to get over it she still had issues with handling stress and honesty so no more ladies with “Problems” or who even look under weight.

They can both come to my booth at K Con, I’ll be dressed as Pops Racer or Captain Avatar

Gee, thanks Neko.

As much as I love sharing Pocky with people, I don't really want people coming up and demanding to be fed. There were a couple people like that at a the end of the last convention.

I wonder if I'll be able to get any green tea pocky for the next meeting....

Green tea is my fave! I recently aquired some which I am altogether far too selfish to share. Greedy when it comes to green tea pocky! But maybe I could show up and eat it in front of ya'll.

@ Xaam

I tried the green tea pocky samples at the Sakura Festival and I dunno it seems to be an aquired taste.  I mean I like green tea and green tea ice cream and all but I wasn't a huge fan of the pocky..hmmm.

I heard the Sakura festival was a huge success, with 31 people and many in costume, and I'm sad that I wasn't able to go. :( It would have been an uphill battle for me to try to go, though. My car died a few days before the festival, AND my only passenger/carpooler cancelled, AND I found out that mom and sister's choir was having their annual potluck that weekend, which I would have missed (their choir is like family, I've known them so long). I concluded that I was not fated to go to Portland that weekend. >_<;

I'll definitely be sure to go next year, now that I've heard people coming back with such great reviews. Thanks, all of you who stuck your heads out and even did cosplay amidst non-otaku strangers for the sake of the con.

Alright. Now I'm angry. I have a horror story to share..

It was morning. I looked in the cupboard where the Pocky from the Festival was kept. I looked inside to see the box of almond Pocky sitting there. But.. the green tea Pocky was missing. *sobs* Someone must have eaten it! It was a brand new unopened box. And when I find out who stole it... there will be carnage.

OMG this is sooo late but XD  I went to the Sakura festival and saw the Edward Elrics.  I recognized them but knew they wouldn't know me.  I was stalking them alittle, though they didn't notice.  I wanted to take pictures and dress up, too, but my inuyasha costume fell to pieces soon after the last Kumoricon.  Since this is the first year I ever knew about the Sakura Festival I'm definitely planning on going dressed up next year! I will have to make a visit to Uwajimaya and stockpile some Green Tea Pocky for the convention. It's a seasonal item and you have to strike carefully when those shipments come in.

you can hold the Uwajimaya staff at bay with the giant pocky as the other pocky club members ransack the back room looking to score some "Green Tea" if you get cought you can always blame the sugar

Ooh, I was there just the other day, still plenty of green tea on the shelves but I also got to taste the Pineapple and Mousse flavored pocky. And the cheesecake stuff, wasnt pocky but was still the same kind of stick. Either way if theres an operation to liberate the green tea pocky let me know, I'll help vondan hold them at bay!
