Awesome that they changed their weekend. but I think it helped kumoricon last year by being the same weekend to keep numbers down.

There will still be plenty of people who simply cannot afford the cost of back-to-back conventions.  Diehards and people that live right in Portland will probably make the trip to both, though. ^^

^ Possibly...  I've never been to PAX myself, but from what I understand, I would think that KCon would be just fine for gaming purposes, or at least good enough, right?

Not exactly.  The console gaming is about the same, or was the last time i was there 3 years ago (actually it is probably bigger now).  But if you are into computer gaming, you miss the 100+ computers networked together to play games with other people at the convention.  The pc tournament is quite fun.  And then there are the table top games.  People don't go to an anime con to play board/table games, but there is a large number of tournaments for table gaming that gets far beyond the numbers kcon receives.
