Saki, it says on the site that you're supposed to fill a form and turn it in before the contest at the con. But I didn't see a form, so I'm not totally sure...But you can't turn it in til the actual con, so I wouldn't totally worry about it.

It might be a case where they have the forms there to be filled out and such.

Yeah that's kind of what i was thinking...and that's actually a pretty good idea (on my part anyway. If i get too distracted by something else, i might skip the contest all together).

Hey, um...would anyone (who i know in RL) who's going to this be willing to let me stay with them for both days? ^^; It would help a lot (My mom/dad wouldn't have to drive up to Portland and back 4 times. Only two...so it would really help a lot)

Hey guys!
My name is Holly (I go by hole on coscom) and I am a representative from Wonder Northwest. Just found out about this thread and would love to give you guys updates and answer any questions you may have. We are very excited to introduce a much needed comic and pop culture convention to Portland.

I noticed some talk about the "Each contestant may only enter one costume into competition" rule. This just means we only want one person per person to enter, this is to make sure everyone has a fair chance of winning. As we do not want a flood of costumes made or worn by one person. At the moment we don't have a group category under the prizes, in fact, it was something that had not occurred to us! Consider me and another organizer are both cosplayers who have entered into competitions as groups. This is something I feel should be revised, and I will get back to you guys as soon as possible about that. As far as entries, we will have sign up sheets available at the convention.

I am in charge of the Lolita Fashion show, and I am so excited to put this on! I know that Oregon has a pretty sizable lolita community, and I'm excited to show it off! There will also be entry forms available at the convention for signing up.

We have most of our guests lined up, but we have yet to complete the schedule list, this is something we are close to completing.
Our guests this year are Craig Thompson, Kurt Halsey, Tim Seeley, Paul Guinan, Anina Bennett, Gus Lopez, Andy Mangels and Skot Kirkwood. You can find out more info about them at http://wondernorthwest.com/guest.php

i DO have a question about the cosplay contest though.

what if you purchased the shoes, but you designed them yourself, is that okay?

or will you have different categories like novice, intermediate, or master? cuz i know you will have these categories:
Best Robot
Best Pirate
Best Children's Costume (13 & under)
Best Prop
Best Overall Costume

And should we have a referance picture? I know Kumo does that so they know what the character's original design is supposed to be. Or if it's a total original design, they could probably just say it is and that it's not based off of a character.

I know for sure I'm entering the cosplay contest. Though I not sure what character I'll do. Either NeoShadow or my original Cheshire Cat, since those are the two I'm bringing probably...

Having bought or altered shoes is okay! We will not be having the categories split up into novice, intermediate, and master because we are still a small convention, and our contest is small as well. Hopefully in the future!

Please bring a reference picture if you are basing your costume off an already created character (Someone from an anime for example). However, since you mention that your designs are original, A reference is not needed (unless you have one already made).

With the bought items...I assume it's like Kumo where 70-80% has to be made?

Probably try to see if I can get my Cheshire outfit finally done, or I may do my new Cheshire character....If I get him done in time.

Other than that, I think Gaara will be the character that I make the most of...Especially his gourd...

@kristi: hmmz... probably little kairi since that is the one that i made with my mom, and i know it doesn't really go with any of the categories.. but i really want to fix up the shoes and re-release her T^T the shoes kinda died before i could show them off at the cosplay contest in scon ;~;

so maybe we can go together?? or something? maybe if you help me with my shoes, i can say you helped make the shoes, and we can go together and you can try to attack me or something and do a little walk on thingy? that'd be cute :3

I'll probably send a note to them to see if they'll add an anime catagory. And maybe even a group catagory.

Saki, it will fit you....Trust me. You and Doe are pretty much the same size.
Also Saki, just so you know, if you get the dress from Doe, you can't wear it in the contest b/c it was bought, not made.
