Whoa folks this thread took a sudden drama turn. Now everyone should take no less than three steps back from there computer and take a deep breath and say to themselves "Is this really worth fighting over?" If your answer is yes then I invite you to set aboard the failtrain.

just thought i would jump in on this whole "everyone fight tanis" thing.
STOP POSTING HERE TANIS. NOBODY WANTS YOU! xD

jk

but srsly guise, i have been playing for almost as long as tanis, and i definitely understand what he is trying to say. If you have knowledge of the game, there is no reason to not help out. I do agree that tanis isn't exactly the most polite person, but he is helping out a lot, and im sure charlie is actually appreciating the help. He definitely has his work cut out for him on this, so im sure he can use as much help as possible.

And I'm anally retentive enough to write Magic cards that actually do what they say! And I care about making stuff look good -- not only Magic, but games, displays, printings, and even my own desktop.

ADDENDUM: just because I don't apply emoticons and smileys (as often as a solar eclipse) as liberally as I apply bacon salt (in my cereal even), it doesn't mean I'm being impolite.

*shrugs*

It's not that big a deal to me, I think the biggest issue is that you seem to post more than... erm... charlie?

Yeah, anyway... I actually confused you for the OP, and it took me reading tom's post like... 3 times to figure
out that he was calling you out on NOT being the OP, I thought he was just calling you lazy or something,
I was very confused.

I can't deny or confirm you are impoliet, because thats just how people perceive your writing. What I can
say is it may infact be cool for both yourself and... charlie.... to write up a full set of cards... more cards
means more decks right? I'm sure most of what charlie wants has been planned out and we just need to
make it happen. If you have more ideas for a k-con set (maybe a specifically staff set or something??) I
think it would be way awesome to start another thread and get on it! Cause you certainly have the talent
and the know-how!

Just remember that everyone else on here is here to help tofu too! We may not be as knowledgeable as you,
but we are still trying, we appreciate your imput but, be mindful that some of us are noobies to the forums
and still have our hearts, souls and feelings and when we feel threatened, it makes us sad waffles.

Hope that helps! Now I have to go ask my friends for a refresher course on Magic, i haven't played in like...
10 years! LOL!

that is because of the way you do what you do, not what you do specifically.

I am definitely agreeing with you on this, and i appreciate the help you are providing to charlie, but i just don't think being impolite to the other users is the way to do it.

you are just being pushy. telling rather than asking.
not technically impolite, just makes you look like a d-bag.

once again, not saying that what you are doing is bad, i just think you could be nicer about it.

Personal choice or court order?

*shrugs* just remember to say "Hey, it would help if" or remember that this is the OP's project and recognize'em
in your sugestions "It would prolly help tofu out if that was done this way..."

That way it doesn't seem so personal. I think that is the biggest issue, you are so wanting to help you take it
all so personally. But when it is not really your fight, you have to remember who is really doing what. Otherwise
it feels to people like you are taking control/taking over. I know it's not your intention, but becoming so personally
invested that you start calling the shots has that effect on your tone, especially in a place like forums, where
tone is hard to read. Does that make sense? If you make your posts selfless, it'll increase your readership because
people wont feal attacked/pressured/over-ruled in their quests to do whatever they do.

But people are going to be mean sometimes, thats the way it is, and not everyone will like you on the boards,
thats life... I'm sure there are tons of people who don't like it when I but into arguments and try to act all fluffy
bunnies and rainbows... I bet they think I'm a faker! That WOULD make me sad, if I didn't have enough self worth
to light the entirety of the Portland metro-area (if lights could be powered by self worth) I always say a heap of
love for yourself with breakfast every morning is the way to stay full o smiles!

Altonimbus Entertainment board order, though I amended it to my signature so that no one would think I'm part of staff.

If I were to make my own set now, if it was for Kumoricon, most folks would ask I didn't, as they don't want their pictures to be left with a creepy old gay guy like myself. If it was a personal project, I have no idea where to begin on the artistic parts of it.

Actually, Tom, Tanis is correct; images should generally be in a horizontal format.  I can use extended art format though on rare occasions, which allows more vertical alignments.  However, those are generally reserved for rare/mythic rare cards so it's better to work with landscape rather than portrait.

And something I'd like to say here: just because something is directed at me, or just because I'm a moderator, doesn't mean that I'm right and anyone else who contributes to the conversation is wrong.  This is a recurring problem: "He/She was talking to Tofu, not you," "You're not a moderator so don't tell me what to do," et cetera.  Unless someone is talking to me via PM, everyone and anyone has the right to pitch in, especially when they're simply pointing out a protocol or rule that may have been missed.

I am pretty sure it means, keep doing what you were doing in regards to advice for
the cards, it also means DONT keep talking about injustices here, and also to people
like me to stop raming this thread down peoples throats about how you should or
should not do this or that.

If you guys are fixing to model cards like what me and Tofu do, go grab Magic Set Editor, (yes, you can google too! No license necessary!) drop in pictures and ideas, put the card in photobucket or something, and up it comes.

Post some pictures of yourself! Doing cool things! Cuz tofu needs happy pictures of you to
make terrify players who oppose them!

@ Everyone:

I thought of another good card but it'd have to wait until we have some way of knowing
what the badges will look like... or we could just use an old badge...

BADGE 1

I dunno what the card would do but I imagine it would damage a cosplayer and

BADGE 1
Badge #1
8
Legendary Artifact
At the beginning of each player's upkeep, that player may spend X, and add X tokens to Badge #1 under their name.  If at the beginning of any player's upkeep, that player has more counters on Badge #1 than any other player, sacrifice it and gain life equal to the number of counters that player has put on it.  That player takes an additional turn after this one.

How about that?

Not quite. If I cast it for 8, then on your upkeep (I don't get one yet), you can spend 1 and drop a token on it. Then on my upkeep, you've got a counter and I don't, and you gain one life and I lose the badge. Oh, and you get an extra turn.

If you strip out any references to upkeep and work it like this:

Then it becomes less of a "throw 8 mana down the tubes". As far as the extra turn goes, 8+x is a bit too steep for a possible extra turn, so I omitted it from my version.

Just my opinion is all.

Tanis, I'm not retarded.  You just misread.

You drop it, the next player places a bid, then goes through their turn.  The following player then does the same, and it goes around every turn until someone BEGINS THEIR UPKEEP WITH MORE COUNTERS ON THE CARD THAN ANY OTHER PLAYER IN THE GAME.

Bottom tier play:
You gain a bunch of life and your opponent gets a turn
Mid-tier play:
You gain X life and you get a free turn
Top-tier play:
You trick your opponent into pumping copious amounts of mana into it, then destroy all of their lands and get ahead of them by 1 counter, then you claim the extra turn and a ridiculous amount of life.
God-tier play:
Use the above strategy, but during your first turn after you claim the second turn, you play another one, and throw down a paradox haze.  During your first upkeep on your second turn, you drop all your mana on the one, then get a third turn on your second upkeep of your second turn.  By the end of the third turn in a row, you have probably won the game.

So what you're saying then, is that once that's in play, there's two checks during the upkeep step, the first being "has the most counters?" and the second being "chance to buy more counters", right?

I dunno what the card would do but I imagine it would damage a cosplayer and

So with the god-tier play strategy, is there going to be a Kumoricon card that has the same effect as a Pardox Haze?
Also, what does that card do?

I'm not sure.  If there is, then it may make that card TOO powerful.  I'll know after playtesting.  If it does need a paradox haze in order to be a viable high-caliber card (and it should be), then I'll come up with something.  Paradox haze gives target player an additional upkeep each turn.  One problem I see would be the fact that this is the only card in the set so far which would be effected by such a card.

Tanis, yes, there are two checks.

I think I'll rephrase the second check to "at the end of your upkeep" so that is more clear.

Then I'd say you got a mighty fine card; it does have a certain "do it now or lose it" quality that mine doesn't.
