You could do normal clothes and just use a plain black zip up hoodie and make your own beads. It isn't too hard.

OK, the escalators are narrow, but the stairs are ok. I still haven't explored the emergency exits properly so I'll make sure to do that before the tour.

As for doing stuff outside, I must beg people to not go to Pioneer Courthouse Square. Please, seriously.
there is going to be way to many people doing stuff down there, if you want a park go WEST to the ACTUAL PARK BLOCKS! Look at the map....

See the green? The BEAUTIFUL GREEN!?!?!?!

You get a real park down that way with plenty of room and grass and trees for shade. Also, you get to go by the local Scientology HQ, so ya know, photo-op for the /b-tards!

Oh, and the reason I'm not on the ball as I was last year is that I'm busy preparing for the San Diego Comic-Con, which I have like, two weeks to finish my costumes for!

EDIT: I thought of some other things....
Don't jaywalk, there's cops hiding all over downtown now waiting to give you a $200 ticket. Kumoricon doesn't need that kind of reputation, Kumoricon needs your money!

Don't bring the giant Lavi hammers. Believe me when I say that the upstairs is cramped. we will be going through areas that the hammer cannot pass. unless you want to have somebody guard it in the lobby during the tour leave it at home.
I do suggest bringing something as WIDE as the hammer on one face, like a giant piece of cardboard you can fold up. that way you can practice moving something that size through the entryways and you'll know where you can and can't go.

Well, we'll just have to find a new spot. There are plenty of them, park blocks could be good, but no matter where we go, there will be crowds. Downtown PDX will never be empty enough to have a crowdless shot or photo shoot, unfortunately.

Oh I'm not saying that we shouldn't go down there for this event, I meant DURING the con itself. There's always going to be people down at the square, but on Labor Day there's probably going to be a concert or something and not just the usual vendors, street rats, and homeless.

I just want to discourage big groups over there during the con, if you thought the glomp circle creepers were a problem before....

Yeah, that'd definitely be asking for trouble. I had figured Pioneer Square would be packed, even without the holiday encouragement.

Definitely think a shady park would be better for the Mock-Battle, there's even a little court part of the Park Blocks with a statue/arch that could be nice for photos.

All can be sorted out during the pre-con of course.

I found something to do

I still need to style the wig for kuja. The back is done and I am working on the front right now. Since there isn't too many good face shots of him I am using the art work of Dissidia to style his hair. http://thelifestream.net/wp-content/uploads/dissidia_artwork_kuja.png I'm working on the little side burns that rest on his cheek right now. I think they look good. I just hope it doesn't bother me.

And now I know that I will wear Kuja to this

I will need to talk to David our facilities liaison and Tom(hopefully at the next meeting) about rescheduling this for one of the general meeting dates at the Hotel and having David,Tom and a hotel guide showing everyone around. Please remember the Hotel is not a public space and their main business comes from doing weddings and Business functions there which we do not want to interrupt.
This is a good idea and I'm glad people are excited about con, but we also have to show the hotel our best side as Con goers, I think a mob of cosplayers showing up early and unexpectedly might freak the hotel staff out a bit.
I will be asking around for the best way to make this happen, but for now I ask for your patience and understanding.
