Shonen Knife in Portland
« on: March 21, 2005, 07:48:49 pm »
Hello, just thought I'd let those of you know that haven't heard already that Shonen Knife is playing at Dante's (21+ only) on the 30th. I'll be there with a few friends, and since they usually aren't in the area (only the 4th time in 20 years) it seems it'd be a good time. ;)

There's nothing like Japanese punk girl bands!

Dante's address is: 1 SW 3rd
It's just a little south of the corner of 3rd and Burnside.
You can buy the tickets at the fastixx website too. :)

And now I'm a catgirl?

was all I could hear as I lay broken in the darkness

HOLYCRAPAWESOME!!!!

I'm so finding a way to go to that!
The 30th is what?..... a Wednesday?
I can be late to work next Thursday......

I'm so going to that concert!
I wonder if it'll just be two of them or if the third member is back in the band....

That's how it was in Michigan. To tell you the truth though, I don't think it's a good idea, it makes it harder on the servers and is a bigger liability for the establishment. Aside from carding every person every time they're served and watching them to make sure they don't pass their drinks off to minors, the clubs/bars/restaurants aren't given as much control as are the patrons, and it doesn't work very well. I understand the frustration (I missed out on seeing the Flaming Lips when I was younger for the same reason), but things are better off as they are.

OH, and Kurimono, the OLCC is the Oregon Liquor Control Commission. They're the ones that control pretty much everything concerning alchohol in Oregon. I remember I had to even go to this class and pass an exam to be able to serve in Oregon. Other states generally don't have anything like this, so it's a bit of a pain, but it seems that they do a pretty good job at the same time. It's much better than seeing highschoolers getting drunk in bars all of the time and similar problems I noticed in Michigan.

I knew that you would be interested, it seems you posted somewhere a while back that you were a fan. ;)
I'm really not sure of who's going to be there to tell you the truth. LOL I haven't even gone through the trouble to see who else is playing. I guess it'll be a surprise. ;)

mmkay I see.  I can understand whats the reason(liability.  accountbility was very important when I was in the military).

I'm taking my girlfriend to the show and I'm totally going.

I hope they have some CDs there for me to buy! I have a ton of Shonen Knife mp3s already so it'll be a chance for me to finally support the band.

Anyone know where you can get fake IDs ?

Yay! That show was great. I have to say I kinda liked their new drummer... very cute with the pigtails and she did a really good job. I don't think I could keep that up as long as she did...

Anyway, I'm glad I bumped into you Tom. I hope you had a great time as well. :) BTW... did you get any CDs? I ended up buying one of the T-Shirts, though I almost bought their new album.

Yeah, I picked up "Pretty Little Baka Guy" and one with a Japanese title I can't remember (Ayami something?). I just had to get a copy of Cannibal Papaya, though I would've gotten the album with "I Am A Cat" if they'd had it. I also got their 2005 tour shirt.

I like the new drummer, she was spunky and had pigtails.

I'm a sucker for pigtails.

I wish we coulda stayed for their whole set but this was my friend Alana's first concert (ever!) and she had no clue how long we were going to be out. She fell asleep somewhere during Rubber Band and we knew it was time to go. It was cool seeing somebody from the board there though!
