Questions from an artist and n00b.
« on: March 05, 2005, 09:03:53 pm »
I'll be a first-time con-goer this year and had some questions about Artist's Alley.

How many prints do you usually bring for sale? Is it normal to bring multiple prints of the same piece, or should all the pieces you're selling be different?

And although it seems like a stupid and obvious question, can you sell fanart? I know it's illegal to sell representations of another person's character for profit, but I *know* people sell fanarts at cons, so is this rule overlooked for anime conventions?

Apologies for asking so many questions, I just have no idea what I'm doing. Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

^_^- If you have any previews of your art, I'll be glad to have a look and tell you if I'd buy any prints.

Uh. Nice way of looking at her signature and profile Caroline...
-hits self- I really like your art, I think the Inuyasha pic is so awsome. I also really like Yuna. :3 You are very gifted.

Whoa. That was a fast reply!

I haven't really decided what prints yet, but here's a few I was thinking of:

Happy Holidays Inu-yasha (only the middle image, minus text and border

Ayame, Demon Princess

The Final Battle

Sango and Kirara

Pharaoh Ruzena (maybe not, it's an old old piece)

Heh, mostly Inu-yasha fanart. But I intend to work on a lot more pieces soon for the con, from other anime series and some original stuff.

My friend Lauren loves Inuyasha, she'd probably buy a bunch of prints.
Aha. I'm like, always online, so I'm always posting. -points to all forums- I'm everywhere.. Except Gaming... Hmm...
:D I would definatly buy some original prints, so atleast you'll have one customer (2 counting Lour-Chan).

at the con, last year, some of us from the fanfiction community distributed an offline 'zine of fanfic and fanart. we're trying to put together future issues. if you might be interested in having your fanart published therein, please pm me. good luck to you!

Thank you! I'll do that.

Still looking for an answer to the questions of how many prints to bring, and whether to bring multiple prints of one piece or all different ones. What's typical among other artists?
