OK people it is time for all of you who haven't come to a big LANime party in Salem to get on down here and see what all the fuss is about!

This time we will have DOUBLE the space, and that means more stuff for everyone to do!

Here is what is happening:

In the first big room we'll have:

This party is also a POTLUCK so bring food and there is always plenty to share and eat!

I should also have fun promo packs from ADV and FUNImation so I'll have lots of stuff to give away and give out as prizes as well as POCKY to sell and give away ($1 a box)

I think that would be very cool.  Would it work if we played that around 9:30?  I have the schedule planned out up until 9:30 and I think that some J-rock would fit in nicely AND add to the variety .  

How long is the video/concert dvd you want to show?  If it is like 45 min or whatever, then we can show some J-Rock and then maybe a couple more ADV anime eps or whatever I decide on putting in the schedule between now and the party.

Oh, well counter strike (mod for Half Life) is only like $5, and Halo 2 will be on the XBox, which we will provide (we have arranged for some members to bring their boxes and games). So, if you wanted to play in both tournaments, even if you didn't have EITHER game, you'd only need like $5 to get Half Life.

Also, we MAY (not a promise) have a few copies for sale at the LAN for like $10 if you can't find one by then. I'd imagine if we did this we'd only have a few available though.

As far as manga and GO, that will be just a free time type deal.  No competitions or contests seeing as how none of us are that good at GO yet (except Chris).  There should be 3 boards there for people to use and play on.

The ART CONTEST final entries need to be put up by 9:00 pm.
All art needs to be drawn on site.

As people finish their art, I'l have them pin it up on one of the walls and have them numbered for easy judging.  I'll have the art judging go from 9:00-9:20 or so.

The Cosplay contest will be basically all day and I'll have some folks help judge and we'll pick the top 3-5 costumes and they'll get a fun prize.  As they come in, I'll have them put on a sticker with a number for judging.

I'll announce the winners at 10:00 at the awards ceremony.

if you are talking about LAN gaming, there won't be extra computers for people to use.  HALO 2 and DDR on the other hand require you to bring nothing.  But if you want to do PC gaming you need to bring your own PC.

I have a concern, at Kumoricon they peace bonded weapons, I know we don't have asmany people, so therefore it shouldn't be hard to controll our crowd, but maybe something should be said about weapons. I know that we arn't allowed real weapons on campus and I really don't know what they would allow for such an event as this. For my character I would usually carry a shealthed Katakana with me, but since that would be illegal on campus I am not going to bring it. I just thought we might want to bring that up. So maybe ban weapons or peace bond, or at least find out what the rules are on campus before campus security comes knocking. ~_^ Just a thought...

That is a good point.  I think that a safe bet would be to not bring any 'non-toy' weapons.  Like real blades, guns, etc...  

I don't see anything wrong with toy guys (with the orange tips) or plastic swords, wood staffs.  but, that is something we should look into.  

If anything we will be checking everyone in and we can make the judgement calls on what will or will not be allowed when each person checks in at the front.

First, costume is totally optional. I think most people aren't going to be wearing one, so don't worry about it.

Second, we'll be playing CS on the LAN, so there won't be any way for you to play off-site. Besides, why'd you want to? You wouldn't be able to get your prize if you won!

We're giving away a whole case of Bawls to our tournament winners, and we'll probably be throwing in a shirt from ATI on top of that too. They just sent me a whole bunch of their Ruby shirts.

You should come dude. There's going to be food, anime, lots of gaming, and really cool prizes. Since it's free and all there's even more reason to come!

Oh, and if your mom still isn't sure remind her that it is on the college campus and there's security there the whole time. I've found that that puts a parent's mind at ease...  besides, we're a well behaved group, and we still have to abide by campus rules and regulations (meaning no alchohol or any other funny stuff), so it's a pretty safe environment.

We've been doing these LANs for a while now and I can't think of any sort of incident we've had yet. Even with the 62 people we had last time things went rather well.

don't worry i've had a working ddr pad for only a 3 weeks (funny i got it at x-mas and out of the people who could break it (plus size purple link me, older bro with feet bigger than head, younger who jumps hard it was my 60 lbs cousin) but with school i don't get to play a lot, i'm good at beginner and a few light but thats it, i'm like best of the easyest, so if you do ddr after me, you'll look realy good and talented

Well, the big party is tomorrow and I got my package from ADV today and all I can say is WOW.  They sent some VERY COOL stuff.  I will have neat-o prizes for the Cosplay and Art contest winners as well as runner ups.

what a party! I'm still recovering... for the record we counted 105 in attendance. We had over 20 people in EACH of our tournaments as well. I think we all had a good time.

the one in april is not during sakura con. It says its on the 14th, Sakura con is on the 8th 9th and 10th.  the 14th is on a thursday. i think.  :-/

April 14th is the meetup at the bubble tea place downtown.  Each month on the second Thursday we meet in the evening (7pm-9pm) to read manga, play GO, and sometimes watch anime at SIP downtown.  Last time we had 21 people there.  You should come.  It is always a good time.

yes!! it was sooo much fun and  i liked how my modifyed costume turned out and even when i wasn't sure what ezactly i was other people did some one said your inner moogle, and people loved the link out fit i made for my brothers gir plushie, and right before finals just what i needed, and its like right after the party ..."so ummm whens the next one? soon? yes? please?"

Here is what I know about the April party:

They will only have the one room reserved for the April event, which means half the space.  
That space will be used for the LARGE group of LAN gamers and HALO 2 gamers.  
So, you are welcome to come to the April party, but there will not be any anime type stuff because...
I won't be there to run the anime/live action viewing, manga tables, art, and etc...
but that isn't a big deal because there wouldn't be the room for it anyway... :wink:

and since most anime folks will be at Sakuracon it works out.

Hubert and I were thinking about throwing some anime on a projector in room D. It wouldn't be much, but it'd be something. I'm hoping we find room for DDR too, but other than that it we will only have Halo 2 and PCs.
