Yep I'm starting it out early this year to see how far we all are for our 2009 cosplays or if you even have em picked out yet xD

I've gotten a start on my Levi cosplay, ive decided to do the third uniform for that one, I'm still working on the mallet :/

Ive picked out two other cosplays, a Shadow heartless from KH and Rosette Christopher from Chrono Crusade, I also have one for mew con (if I attend) that I'm already almost done with >.> and I still plan to pick one more of K-con09

so what about you all?

My cosplay for (hopefully) Sakura-con is probably... 55% done.  I've got the main outfit, just need to edit it and work on the accessories and whatnot.  Not saying what it is though. >.>

I have them chosen and I've just slightly started on them. started as in figuring out where I'm going to buy everything I need, my budget for supplies, and how some things are going to be made. that's about it. hopefully people will know where I'm from. I think one of my costumes will get recognition but the other. well I'm going to make a thread later in the year about it.

If I can make it to Kcon, I probably won't be doing anything new -- it's my last con of the year, and by that point I've pretty much got everything I want for the year ironed out.  That said, I have a crapton of work to do and it's aiming for Sakuracon, so oh dear already.

Right now, most of the work I've been doing has been for my Trinity Blood cosplay (Kaya Syokka/Gypsy Queen -- hurrah for the obscurity of novel-only!).  Supplies are by and large amassed; I picked up hoops at Faire this past weekend, so the only things I might need are some more petticoat fabric, Wonderflex, and of course resincasting supplies (and possibly paints; not sure about that yet).  I've done a bit of the Wonderflex armour for the boots and built the rosaries, but that's most of it for now.

In fact, most of my cosplay stuff is practically on hold right now.  T_T  I'm hopefully moving in about a week, so once that's done I can get back to work, but for now almost everything is in boxes (or should be going into them).

Well, I shall be Yuna. Checking out reccomended websites and looking up stores for everything I need. Also setting up a commissions thing on cospy.com to pay for it all until I can find a job. XD

Im about thirty percent done with my Chris Redfield Cosplay. The majority of it is just gathering materials.
As for Tenchi im still drafting it out and deciding on wich outfit to go with. Hope to have em' both done by Sakura-Con.

For 2009, I am revamping my Azul the Cerulean, I'm bringing Barret Wallace back for a third year, and I am aiming to do Angeal also. We'll see about all three, though. It may be too much to haul around.

I'm going to really try to finish Axel this year for either MEWcon, or Sakuracon. I have the materials to make his outfit, his Chakrams, and his contacts. The only things I really have left to do is buy a new wig, since the other one is rather sad, and buy some boots.

Light's already set, and as for A.B.A., I haven't even started on her. ~ ~

I was working on my White Mage costume for Sakuracon while I was back home visiting but I couldn't get it done. I think my moms going to try and finish it for me so I can have it by Halloween since I lack sewing machine and a place to sew. I'm really upset though, I wanted to finish it myself ;0;

My wigs are relatively affordable because I'm not getting them 100% pre-styled. I'm just getting wigs with the right color and the basic shape of the hair. I'll try to style them as best as I can : D

Like, the length and amount of spike of the wig in my av is about what I'm going for, but that one came pre-styled.  Do you think I could get the same amount of spike just trying to do it myself?

Antimony and Lace (here, http://gothfashion.info/) also has some useful patterns, but they specialize in simple designs and gothic dress.

Not really.  Because wigs are composed of wefts (those lines of hair you can see when you turn a wig inside-out), spiking a wig meant to be worn down will result in lovely gaps between the wefts.  There are wigs done specifically for spiked styles, like the ever-popular Punky; I'm pretty sure there are short black wigs out there which come prespiked, but if you're going to cut/style one down, make sure you get something that's meant for those sorts of punked styles rather than being worn down.

(I still think duct tape is probably my favourite corset/bodice pattern generation tool of all time, though.)

The fabric for Axel's coat arrived in the mail today from Eugene. I'm getting really excited about it. All I really need now is help sewing it all together (Which is where Steven comes in handy) and I just need to buy a new wig or two for the hair. Then that's one down, and one to go.

I suppose you can always have your eyebrows waxed first if you want to (that is, if you're like me and have a caterpillar unibrow). It doesn't cost too much. Might help so you don't have to use as much putty.

Yeah I like getting them waxed. My eyebrows are pretty thin already, though. I might get them waxed before I go to a convention, though.

Evidently, water-based spirit gum works to cover your eyebrows.  I've not tried it yet so I can't speak from personal experience, but that's up in enough places that it's probably worth a try.  :3
