So far, yes.  Although, Halo 3 is sorta sub-par to CoD4 at this point, and prob could get axed.

To quote the youtube video 'A Day In the Life of A Turret', Halo 3 is CoD4's b***h.  Honestly, in all reality, I'd rather play CoD4.

I FINALLY found Bust-A-Move Bash for the Wii. Been looking for like a week. This can have up to 8 players at once and gets TOTALLY chaotic! It'd be crazy for a tournament!

I just found Uniracers for $12 (a deal, if you ask me). I'd still love a tournament there. There's a lot of newer games being used for tournaments these days. I think we should have a couple classics.

Even though I don't play many myself, an old Mortal Kombat or King of Fighters game would be great tournament fodder.  Not so much Street Fighter because that game's super simple.  Hellsap knows more about fighters than me, but I know enough to know that new fighters and old fighters are entirely different.

I haven't played it, but how's the Playstation version to the arcade version?  Is it a full direct port?  If so, that and a couple of ASC's should be fine.

Personally, I didn't like MK3 in either case. Hence MKII. It's like the Mariott vs. Double-Tree, you can check the preference and stats for it online, but there's no contest as to which one is better.

Well for IIDX..not sure how many serious players u have there but i would recommend beatmania IIDX 14th style...aka Gold..cause DJ Troopers is not out yet.DDR..I have all of them and the original Version's to.1,2,append 1 and 2,3,4,extra mix, 5 on ps1 and 6-extreme.. all the Jp versions.

Mame is so not legal at all in any way..if caught using mame by a industry rep..so many fines can be appied to that person..that is why most con's say nooo to Roms...even at Sakura con they can't use step mania any more cause they got in trouble for it.

Pop n Music Carnival is a great game to..alot of fun.

I'm so excited for the DDR tournament and IIDX and Pop 'n would be awesome as well if those happened.
Actually, we should talk to Gosha and Pantsu about Pop'N; they both have really good ASC's.  IIDX could be done, but the skill gaps between the people who would be playing would be hueg.

Stepmania tourneyXD
If there's a DDR tournament, this will probably be how it's done.  That or using DDR 5th Mix through MAME if there's a legal issue (I know someone with a 5th Mix ROM, so it would be 100% legal, while StepMania would be somewhat questionable).

If I'm providing the StepMania, I intend to have a contract written that will make it a fully legal application.  This is possible because:
1. Kumoricon is technically a private (member-only) event, not an event where one purchases admission, so StepMania is perfectly viable as long as the bylaws are still phrased in a manner that specifies that registration is for Altonimbus membership, not for Kumoricon admission.
2. It would be on free play

If you have a Japanese PS2 to play those on, it would be fantastic if you could bring that and any of your games, including the DDR.  Although all the DDR will be run through StepMania, the disclaimer I'm writing into the game requires that any songs and charts used are either original or existing on legitimate copies of the games on-site.  The only reason I'm using StepMania is because the homeversions aren't consistent with each other and have slow load times.  For a serious tournament, no less than 180 songs and 500 charts will suffice.  I am getting tired of people writing off my 1st and 2nd place scores because it was a "homeversion tourney".

MAME is perfectly legal in every way.  It's only illegal if you don't own the actual ROM.  It's designed to play ROMs for machines that are out of production and/or have irreplaceable broken hardware.  If you own a ROM through firsthand purchase, you are legally entitled to use it on any system that will play it.  Likewise, if you own a piece of hardware (ie. a arcade machine) you are legally entitled to play any software that works on it.

Tournament idea: Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction Hardcore Tournament: last man standing.

8-person tournament via our LAN gaming (assuming we have it again) where each player starts with a level 1 character with their choice of class.  They can form parties and go aggro as they please, but whatever happens, the last man standing wins.

Working on the logistics of things... it seems that CoD4, although better than Halo 3, does not support split screen.  Which severely limits any chance of a team tourney.

Fighting games - I'm thinking of throwing a small KoF '98 UM side tournament.  Its an oldschool fighter, but its brand new! With updates and slight tweaks.  Its awesome.

Since the LAN is basically a separate entity, not taking up TVs, theres plenty of free time for tournaments or side-games to be ran.

Next thing to work on - DONATIONS.  I need to start a loan thread this year, to keep track of what people are planning to bring with them, with a running record of what K-con has and what people are bringing.

So what tournaments have been added to this list and what has been removed?

Super Smash Bros Brawl
Soul Calibur 4
Guilty Gear XX : Accent Core Plus
Mario Kart Wii
Rock Band 4v4
Guitar Hero 3
DDR / Stepmania (Mix TBD by DancingTofu)
Halo 3
Tetris Attack
Tetris DS (or another DS game)
Pokemon (in conjunction with the Pokemon panel)

Anything different? I've seen people talking about other events but what's official?

Rock Band will be a Judged Battle of the Bands; it's as much a performance tournament as a gaming tournament, and I feel that it should be noted as such.

Guitar Hero will have a Hard Division and an Expert Division; it doesn't need to be noted but could be.

I have a complete songlist for DDR of 300+ songs available on request.  If more versions become available to us, I can add songs to that, but the "Mix TBD by DancingTofu" is probably outdated.

Also, the DDR will run 2-3 1v1 tournaments as well as a team tournament.  Due to the nonexistence of formal teams, I could use as much help as possible to spread the word about the the team tournament so that people will ask me about it and start making teams well before the con.  If you could note that in some way, it would be appreciated.

OH WAIT.

We need to collaborate and share data and methods sometime again before the con.  I think I still have your 64-dude double elim bracket, but that's all.

Im totally down for halo3 tourney, as much as i love COD4 its slightly annoying ya gotta use pre-made setups if your playing anythin other then Xbox live.    That aside i'd love to see either a Melty Blood or DOA 4 tourney.

Depending on the ruleset, I might go for the Halo 3 tournament too.  I've been playing some Halo 2 lately and it's taken me 2 sessions of playing for about an hour each time to get to the point where I'm almost matching kills with a guy who plays every day for a few hours.  If I have time to play any games between now and the con, Halo2/3 will be one of them fo' sho'.

Personally, I would like Mario Kart: Double Dash back instead of Wii. Double Dash takes more skill, it has teams. I play the Wii version a lot simply for the tournament, and I can fall back to 12th in a single second, then come back to 1st in half a lap; too random for a tourney.

I would so be in the double dash tournament with a friend of mine. We tried last year but the random selection gave us crap character and we lost. We were so used to playing small. If there is double dash we will practice with all three weight classes and become really good with all three mwahahahahhahaha >:D

Heh. And I just got through unlocking everything, including all Expert staff ghosts and stars in all 150cc Mirror tournaments.
Also, random character selection in ANY tournament also takes away from what people practice and get skilled at.

Random selection does seem like a good way of messing some things up, especially in Mario Kart, where the characters are actually balanced.  In SC2; it made sense, because otherwise everyone would use Yoshimitsu, Astaroth, Nightmare, or Raphael and it would be BORING AS HELL.

That's REALLY funny considering I'm the one trying to organize it and absolutely none of this was cleared with me.

Or was there another one planned and I opened a whole thread and went on about starting one and no one told me about the existance of another?

DDR/StepMania will likely be ITG3 (the unreleased arcade beta) + all of DDR 3rd-SN2 instead.  I have mah resources. :D

ITG2 is basically just StepMania, but I think I could get more serious players to come to an ITG2 tournament.

DDR/ITG2 works fine for the listing.

But yeah; all DDR will be run through ITG, which is owned by Konami and considered an extension of DDR so if anyone cares they shouldn't.

Pokemon (in conjunction with the Pokemon panel)
^ In fact, it was clearly stated as a tournament, in conjunction with the panel that was happening.  Sorta as a segue into it.

Last I heard, none of them were coming; BBH might but Schlagwerk is heading up to PAX for Sat/Sun and Zeppy's skipping out.  I doubt any of them would cosplay; they're all 6'2-6'4" and really scrawny. :P  BBH likes posing as his character when he wins though. . .
