Interested in running a panel in '08?
« on: January 16, 2008, 06:10:07 pm »
Hi,

Do you have a favorite topic you want to discuss, or information to share with your fellow congoers?  Perhaps you have some cosplay or gaming tips you could share.  Or did you run a panel last year, and would like to do so again?

We are now accepting panel registrations for 2008; panel forms can be found here.  Just fill out the form and e-mail it programming@kumoricon.org.  Panels are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis, so if you need your panel to run a certain time/day, be sure to submit your form as soon as possible.

This year, we are offering panelist discount to those panelists who haven't already pre-registered, and whose panels are at least 2 hours in length.

If you have any questions, please feel free to post here, PM me, or drop me an e-mail at programming@kumoricon.org.

Thanks :D

Just out of curiousity, will there be a Panelist's Meeting again this year? The one last year was nice and it allowed most of the panelists to meet each other.

Bangbangneko - I try to reply to the panel forms I receive, to let you know if I need any information, and so you know that it was received.  I have replied to all the panel forms that were submitted to programming@kumoricon.org, and I don't recall seeing yours.  Can you resend it?

Azukyo - Yes, there will be a panelist meeting again this year.  It will be an opportunity to make sure we know what you will need, and so you can meet the staffers who can help you if you need anything.

I've got a panel idea that I'd like to do, but the only problem is the panel forms link doesn't work on my computer. What should I do if I can't access it?

I submitted my panel ideas and I was wondering when I should expect a response. These panels have gone over well at other cons and it'd be great to be able to introduce them to people at Kumoricon.

Sorry guys... things have been so busy I haven't gotten a chance to fully review your panel forms.  I did see that you e-mailed them, and I hope to be able to look at them soon and get back to you about any additional info I may need.

Thanks for being so patient :)

Hi there! I have a question.

My friend and I have been trying for quite some time to figure out how Kumoricon's panel form works. We have tried opening it as a direct link, saving it to the computer...  but we can't figure out how we're supposed to send it in. I personally have the most recent version of Adobe Reader, and no "submit" or "send" button appears on the form like the Reader help topic said it should. My friend e-mailed you approximately a week ago with this concern, and PMed you on Monday when she got no response.

We would really like to host a panel or two at Kumoricon, and would appreciate it if you get back to us ASAP. Thanks.

I have reviewed the document in both Reader and Acrobat and there is no "send button" You need to actually print out your files and send them in by snail mail. The alternative is to fill out the form and print to image and email the image. Yet another alternative is to write out your info, print the filled form, then SCAN the printout and email that image back.

Also, you could download the tryout of Acrobat 8 Pro and just save it as a new file.

Hmmm.... Reader usage rights have not been enabled.... I will have to upload my own enabled copy for problem cases.

Try this file.
http://pockyclub.elite-otaku.net/event_panel_form_2008a.pdf
It should be enabled so that Reader users can save their copy, and the email button has been encoded to send a copy of the FILLED PDF to programming@kumoricon.org

Hope this works for everyone!

I was thinking of a panel. What about a swap meet? People bring their old wallscrolls, figures, manga etc and we can form a trade/sell room? I was wondering if this would even be okay? Id really like to see it go down. Also since I wanted it more of a trade room then a selling room items would have to be fifteen dollars or less. Yes? No?

Regarding the The Anime List panel idea I submitted, I have some clips from the panel I did of it at Fanime that I'd like to share. And believe me, we had a lot of fun with these subjects and I think a lot of people attending Kumoricon will enjoy this panel as well.

Sorry about that, I try to respond when I get them, so you at least know that they were received.

I did get it, and found room on the schedule for it.  One question for you - can you include cosplays in your list of things to swap?  There has been interest..

Have you been able to schedule the ideas that I submitted? The ones I submitted were The Anime List, the fan art caption contest and the Anime Christmas event.

I took a look at the schedule recently and noticed that two of my panels are scheduled at the same time. Anime Christmas and the fan art caption contest got scheduled at 11:00 AM on Sunday.
When there's a chance, we should try to change one of those events to a different time.
