I'm trying to figure out who I'm cosplaying as next year, and I'm too cheap to get a wig. I have red hair, and I was wondering if anyone knew about a red-headed (and preferably female) character? It'd also be nice if the outfit wasn't too extravagant.

Female Ranma from Ranma 1/2 is a good choice! Baggy blue pants, a red oriental shirt or tanktop of yellow/blue/white coloring, a black tie-on belt, slippers, and your hair braided back! Good easy costume!

On the subject of Pokémon, there's Jesse of Team Rocket.

And there's also Lorelei/Prima. She had purple hair on the show, but in the games she's a redhead. But most people will know her from the show since she was gratutious fanservice.

Maybe Mikuru from Haruhi Suzumiya, she has long hair. Her costume isn't hard either unless it's the battle maid outfit. Doesn't the female version of ranma have dark blue hair? I don't rememeber...

Yeah, although some of the manga covers gave her the most random hair colors, so there might be confusion there if you only read the manga, but, in the anime, it's red.
