Need help making a doll
« on: October 09, 2007, 10:29:07 pm »
I want to cosplay as Kaede from Pokémon, and I need a doll of her partner, which is a Gloom

But there's no official dolls of Gloom, so I'll need to make one. Can someone give me a hand with this? The most complex doll I've ever made was basically a ball shape, and this goes way beyond that. What should I make it out of? What should I stuff it with? How to make the leaves? The drool?

Well, again the body is a simple ball, as are the round things on it's head. The limbs are just small ovals. The features and drool could be painted or stitched/glued on. And the leaves are just pointed ovals, though I don't know what kind of material to use.

As for stuffing, I'm pretty sure that you can get commercial "art fluff" at craft stores. XD There, advice from somebody who's never made a doll. What am I doing?

Well you could always use coconut shells, but that wouldn't be comfy to sleep with, and it would be heavy. XD Well for the drool you could always use hot glue! :D

it wouldnt be all that hard.  although you COULD use a triagle kinda of method (think of how a beach ball is put together) i find that polar fleace has a kind of stretch in it that will let you make something basically into a sphere with just 2 parts like this guy hyna http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v379/pinkrandomattack/newtad.jpg?t=1192073942  its pretty much a ball.

and then you could make the flower for the top no problems at all. although im a little surrprized there was never an official plushie made of gloom.
