I'm assuming we are talking about high school grades. 

High school is a bit of a joke, really the only thing that good grades can do is get one into a fancier school.  However, they tend to cost lots of money, so if one's plan is to goto PCC or PSU after graduating C's are just fine. 

If it is a motivational issue, try maybe getting some co-enrolement at PCC.  That was a program we had at Aloha for Juniors and Seniors, free college!  Less class time, shorter terms!

To be perfectly honest, my response to this kind of thing would typically be something " If you have no other responsibilities outside of school then just do it."

But you've got a very valid point about the end of summer. I don't think theres anything wrong with one 'free' summer vacation., barring purely reprehensible behavior of coarse.

Everyone considers their parents horrible in one way or another, as long as they don't beat you or give emotional grief or harm that is a serious plus. whoa, I love to body surf and I have to say that does sound scary. The worst thing that happend to me body surfing was that a bigger wave than I thought came and by the time I figured that out it was to late and I was slammed into the sand and tossed around for a while till I finally was able to get onto the beach.
