i need help on animal crossing: wild world!!!

it may be a boring game, but i play it constantly, but something happened!!! a giant flower grew in my town, one of those stinky flowers that grow in jungles... you cant pick it, or anything! a sign came by it that says "when unusual flowers bloom, unusual insects appear. the world sure can be unusual!" but i havent gotten any insects at all! i dont know what to do with it, i was just wondering if this happened to anyone else...

After you pull most of your weeds and get rid of your dead flowers/trees, the rafflesia should go away.

Did you "time travel" at all by changing the dates forward/backward? If so, you'll get one of those flowers. Read on GameFAQs.com and see if you can get rid of it.
