I've never told any other otakus this and I think it's time to get this of my chest.

(Please don't hurt me)

I don't like giant robots.

*braces self for fanboy/girl attacks*

I never liked them. Giant man-made structures freak me out and whenever I see a giant robo/mech/thing my mind is ocupied by all the horrors they would spawn irl *shudder*

*relived sigh*

Meh, nothing I haven't heard already.

I remember a year or two ago there was a thread topic saying "What sort of genre do you like/dislike" and quite a few people actually said they didn't like giant robots.

Thank god someone else! I HATE naruto. I dont know why its just.. I dont know Im not fond of the anime and its also really far overdone as far as cosplay and Stuff. People put those headbands on and call it cosplay... grrr....

I tend to dislike certain genres and such, but I don't bash other people about it. Like whatever you want, I really don't care...

As for mecha, I think some are good. :3 I used to love Robotech...
Are Eureka 7 and IGPX considered mecha?

Chobits also has some fan service involved, but it's a really sweet anime. :3

Mecha is okay most of it

But I do hate 'cute things

shows that try too hard to be deep and thoughtful (Eureka 7 makes me want to stab myself in the eye with a fork) =p

I REALLY hate Samurai

whiny obnoxious emotional schoolgirls who dont like to fight

Broody badass male types. See: samurai

ugly loud mouth muscle bound meat heads

'romantic comedies' or angsty teenage relationship/drama stories

huge guns

Main characters who are suddenly better than everyone in the entire series just cuz theyre the main character = Ichigo

excessive suggested lesbianism and panty shots

" bad ass" women with chips on theyre shoulder

The only shows that dont have a lot of the afore mentioned are shows like Naruto and Bleach ( I can ignore Ichigo) so I look like a total 'noob' ^^;
( I do like some other anime tho)

I think the difference with persocoms are that they have a unique feature (their ears), to separate them from normal society.
Although there are some persocoms in the series that look extremely human (like Yuzuki) .... [shrugs] I can't explain things very well.

they have android bodies but they're computers. the human sized ones are PCs and the chibis are lap-tops. they can go online and "print" things and have "screen savers"

lol this thread made me giggle I am not a mecha type guy in some ways I mean some are aright gundam wing for example only mecha series I really enjoyed... granted I was like in middle school at the time but still I liked it... now adays I have moved onto bigger and better things... things like anime containing fan service I enjoy fan service very much so.... as for things to look out for.... these should be comming to america soon or can be found on Youtube...(pirates dream land)

D gray man (for you people who like your hereos to be male and sexy fine but with a slight edge of mystery and kind of dark)

Shuffle (for the people who love tenchi muyo this one is for you its got "perky girls" aswell as some serious moments...and I mean serious...really....really serious....)

Bartender (Alcoholic otaku this is for you if you ever thought hey I need a anime with booze involved aswell as a metric arse ton of back story and drama this one will be it)

Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan ( Sense-less violence and comedy...nuff said... this is pucks choice though for good times)

and just as a side note it seems that you are either with naruto against naruto or are on bleachs side... so I say we get abunch of people together dressed up as characters from bleach and naruto and make a re make of west side story... IT WILL WORK!!!!

The closest thing to a mecha that I like is Project A-ko, which really isn't a mecha series, but it has mechas in it.

Transformers was alright, & I did like Beast Wars. I'm interested in the Transformers movie, though. That looks amazing. Does anybody remember the date it's suppose to come out? I think it's some time in July.

Ay yi yi....

Man, giant robots save the world and fight with each other. It's fun to watch. Sure they may devastate cities but any action anime is going to have mass destruction like that.

I don't like chobits, it was boring to me. They kept alluding to stuff that was never shown (and I'm guessing might be in the manga of course). Persacoms are creepier than a mecha to me because people start to treat them like real people when they are not. People are bad enough nowadays with their normal computers and online lives. It's bad enough to see MMOG widows and orphans with out men literally trying to marry their computers.

Back to giant robots for a bit, the ones with kid pilots bug me a little but i can cope if the anime is cool enough. the ones I like best though are the ones that are just plain machines. Like Mobile Unit Gundam 008 (I get that name right?) or most of the Macross series. They're stories about people that happen to pilot giant robots at war rather than OMG One Machine that can save us!!!!

Maybe it's just that I saw Paprika last night and I'm more interested than usual in defining real and not-real and that's why I'm in an "anti-persocom" mood right now. Chobits did bore me though, it's one of those shows I watched just to have seen it (and because my fiance really likes it).

tofu, why'd you think you were gonna get flamed? Nobody here has actually talked about mecha stuff in a long time! It's all Harahui this and Ouran that. *activate old man voice* Damn emo hipster otaku are taking over! Just watch, somebody's going to start making T-shirts to parody the Uber Geek Nerd Squad, they'll have the same glasses but there'll be big emo bangs in front.
