Console Gaming 2007
« on: March 16, 2007, 10:23:05 am »
Hi everyone, this is Morgan, your Console Gaming Room coordinator for 2007.

You may remember me from such previous tournaments as the 4 and a half hour Super Smash Brothers Melee 2005, or Mario Kart '05 and '06. =)

This year I am heading up Console Gaming and we have some exciting new things in store for you!

The tournament list will be posted here, though changes will likely be made to it when we get closer to gametime. If there's a game you would like to see on the list, you may reply in this thread with the title of the game and the system it is played on, as well as the number of players it can host. I'd prefer to have more 4-player action this year, as the 1-on-1 tends to run a lot longer.

We are also accepting applications for Volunteers to help in Gaming. You may apply here as well.

If you are planning on loaning games or equipment/consoles to the con this year you will need to contact me via PM or e-mail with an item list and your full contact info. All items to be loaned need to be checked in Friday and will be released Sunday evening. If you are arriving Saturday please indicate that in your message. My e-mail for further questions is morgan.j.holland@gmail.com.

Tournament List:

Halo 2 Teams
Mario Kart: Double Dash! Teams
Soul Calibur III
Guitar Hero II
DDR Style
DDR Score
Rayman: Raving Rabbids
Wii Sports

More to come later. Thank you, and rock on!

Hopefully there will be a lot more interesting competative Wii games coming out by the time Kcon hits.

I'm looking out for Hajime no Ippo for Wii
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdI7pmPN8DE&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Esiliconera%2Ecom%2Findex%2Ephp%2F2007%2F03%2F13%2Fwatch%2Dhajime%2Dno%2Dippo%2Drevolution%2Dwii%2Dboxing%2Drefined%2F
And maybe a freeloader or something.  That is if we can find someone who imports.

Is there a need for DDR style and score again?  Last time it was sorta half-assed.

There should be some better planned bonus games...
Do we want to keep SC3 even though everyone moved back to SC2, or Tekken 5 DR / Virtua Fighter 5?

...and I still fail at getting a ride to Salem for the events or getting a hold of anyone.  Am I still staffing? lol.

Well we can cut out the DDR if it isn't popular. You're staffing with us, Jen and I put you on the staff list. I think Jen has her own people for LAN gaming and I am heading Console, so you can tell me now what tournaments you want to run and once I have a complete list, I will make a schedule with times and tell you what times on which days you'll want to be there. We're working on better prize support as well. I'm writing up a budget. I'll let you know. Do you have my number?

I'd like to see Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 for the PS2, but I am not sure this is the place to post it in.
PSN: MiyamotoKaizen
Steam: DarkUltima (Miyamoto Kaizen should be what you see)
Costume Progress:
Zengar Zombolt (SRWOG) - 100%

Let's see if we cant add Guilty gear and... Super Street Fighter 2 turbo maybe?

Also, we threw together an informal SSBM Team tournament last year, and it was a total blast. I'd love to see an official one this year. (they're way easier to run than the FFA ones too, btw.)

yeah we need ddr style! there appeared to be some genuine interest last year, but I guess nobody wanted to be judges and it was cancelled. I suggest we decide by crowd favorite. It wouldn't take long: surely less than 10 people would perform, making the contest last about a half hour. I'll even run it if you guys don't want to.

Oh, there will be GG: Accent Core and SSFT2 from the CCC2 release....
the problem is getting enough people who want to stay for a tourney.  Last year me and my friends scared off everyone so I just canceled the tourney.
Getting an old game like SSFT2 to get people who actually want to compete will be hard, too.
