I agree, I just feel that unless they bring reinforcements then there will be such a long line it would kinda stink

Just a reminder, if you think that any of the people who were at Sakurafest should be at Kumoricon then email your ideas to relations@kumoricon.org since that is the person in charge of such things.

It would be cool if they were there, but there would probably have to be like three different stations so as the same two people wouldn't get completely swamped every second of the weekend.

A positive idea though.

I'm imagining a wall of takiyaki, with like two booths per flavor.

Since it's begun to be an issue on at least four different fronts I think that next year the convention should look into gettingthe insurance and permits for having cooking on site as an official part of the convention. Like Nekopan Bakery and the cooking panel and a waffo cart.

If only we could get a convention space with some open air room for people to operate. Cooks in the vendor area would lack ventilation and that's not right. Hmmmm..... waht a puzzle.

Learned a Japanese pun last night watching Urasei Yatsura. Taiyaki, can be mistaken for Taya Ki, which would be a tire tree!

the taiyaki stand was left, right next to the entrance. then again it was always crowded and maybe hard to notice they were selling taiyaki...

You know, if the stand was owned by the people at the restaurant AT Uwajimaya then it probably means that you can actually get the taiyaki at the restaurant itself.

This is a good reason for people to give the place a try when they're in the area.

Pi and Jaybug looked most awesome in their dress clothes....I was quit impressed. :) You guys almost make us seem reputable. :D

I got some pics, too, but mine will go into the gallery. If any of you would like your pictures to go into the main page gallery, let Jeff know. He'd be happy to have the extra photos to beef up the site. :)

Huge thanks to Vallie and the Registration Crew for their efforts today.  We were able to secure 21 registrations in the pouring rain. Our outreach is really paying off! Total pre-reg count (apx. 400) is now nearly the same as the number of attendees in 2003, with near a quarter of registrants signing up at events! Keep up the good work, everyone.

I can't wait to throw this party. :)

Woot! Woot! Woot!!!!

Nice meeting y'all! What a fun "family reunion" type event!

I checked the menu, and Hakatamon doesn't serve taiyaki at the restaurant.  They just make it for the festivals, which means they won't make it again until the Hawaiian festival in August (there's a couple small festivals before then, but I don't think they usually cook it at the small ones).

I'm sure they could make a killing if they had it on their regular menu, though.  I wanted to get some at the festival, but the line was always too long....sure, I probably could have used my sway as an Uwajimaya employee to have some set aside that I could pick up later, but that would feel unfair, especially with all the people waiting out in the rain.

Ah, allergic to sushi. That's near tragic. Well, when one is craving it, it would be tragic.

But good to know anyway, for the Taiyaki.

Wow I can't find one anywhere, google, froogle, amazon, ebay.. weird I have tried several names: taiyaki, fish waffle, dessert fish, fish pan, who knows

hmm I wonder if you could use this:  http://cgi.ebay.com/Old-Mountain-Cast-Iron-Perch-Pan-Fish-Bread-Pan-Great_W0QQitemZ190102375094QQihZ009QQcategoryZ976QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem

That looks just like what they used at Uwajimaya. I think, after you put the filling into one half, you take another half, not quite completely cooked, and put it onto the half still cooking, letting the uncooked dough act as the glue. Just hope you have the correct half lined up. Otherwise you end up with a mixed up Pisces!
Have Fun
