COSplay or CROSSplay?

Which are you doing this year and what gender are you? (It's not as bad to see a fairly flat chested girl playing a guy as it is to see a guy with C-cup moobs playing a girl.)

Myself I'm going to be going as Chika-kun which will be crossplay (Chika is a guy and I'm a girl) and I'm also going to be going as Kino from Kino no Tabi... Who is a girl but looks like a guy. XD

I'm a girl and I mainly crossplay
The other day I was trying to think of good female characters that would be fun to cosplay as but I could only think up guys.

haruhi fujioka would be fun. but right now all my planned cosplays are crossplays (roxas...kakashi...kimimaro)

i'll be cosplaying and crossplaying. i've usually cosplayed in the past, but i'm planning more crossplays in the future. according to my shinji crossplay, people said i'd make a pretty cute boy, haha. crossplay is fun. ♥

here are my plans for this year's con, though it's subject to change:
- hunny-sempai (middle school uniform) from ouran *crossplay*
- mackenzie from touch detective *cosplay*
- YURA-sama from psycho le cemu *crossplay*

I'm probably bringing my JP costume again, and I hope to have a Wendy costume by the time Kcon rolls around.

Most of my costumes are suprises. They're all technically male.
Especially my Pocky Shogun armor, though I guess it's more neutral really....

No more crossplay for me though. I've been told to give my fuku a rest this year and I plan to do just that.

Well... I'll mostly be cosplaying... but that is mostly because no one would want to see me dressed as a girl... People may just commit suicide over the sight!

Well cosplaying to me seems harder for girls. Mainly because most of the girl's costumes are way too complicated. Plus, in my opinion, guys get better costumes. So I'll be crossplaying... again. ^_^

Ah yes the old formal wear dichotomy. Women have all sorts of crazy dresses to wear and men all have something guaranteed to look good. Also women all have to wear distinctive dresses while men all have to look the same.

Girl here duh.
I dont crossplay, only cosplay. This year Im going as Skuld from Ah My Goddess and next year Im going as Lina Inverse from Slayers. Im more excited about my 2008 cosplay, cause NightRains going as a huge Slayers group and its my favorite anime of all time, on the same level of Sailor Moon if not better, shhh I didnt say that.

I might crossplay one day but I dont know who Id be and no one has come up Id really want to do or look good as yet. Plus Id have to wear really bagging clothes cause binding sucks, ouch...!!

I hear ya. That's exactly what I think. Glad to know I'm not alone in thinking that... plus, for some reason many girls wear dresses and skirts and I can't stand those. That's another reason why I like to crossplay, I get to wear pants.

You could always cosplay as a character that looks like a guy such as Kino from Kino no Tabi or Haruhi from Ouran High School Host Club. Nothing's wrong with crossplay, of course (well... On girls if they don't have super big boobs anyways... Man-Faye seriously creeps me out and it looks wear to have a really big chested "guy") I mean I'm going to be crossplaying as well this year, but these are just some suggestions if you do want to cosplay. You could also play a tomboyish character who always wears pants if skirts are what you have a problem with. ;)

Well, there's always Utena characters. Most of them have pants and long hair. How do you feel about dying your hair? Maybe just some temporary stuff for the convention?

Ya on the pants thing. I mostly crossplay also because male characters are the ones I end up really connecting with. I am always on the lookout for girls to cosplay tho.

My mom won't let me do a temp job. And, the problem with Utena is she shows off a lot of leg. I hate my body and tend to cover it up. Reason #2 why I crossplay... 0 self confidence.

It's alot lot easier for girls to crossplay than for guys, just because of the pants thing. I'm going as L one day and a Cardboard box another (I'm not kidding, I'm going as a Seele sound only monolith. It's going to be awesome).

Well, this year, I'm planning on going as Ranma Saotome, only the male half.
Next year, however, I'm thinking about doing something that I was thinking about doing last year, but never got around to doing it; Lina Inverse.
My cosplay plans for 2022 (thus far): Vanir from Konosuba
My son's plans this year (thus far): Penguin Chiyo-chan from Azumanga Daioh

I used to only crossplay that is until someone asked if I was a guy or girl I guess that's what you go for, but I was very upset by that so now I tend to only be girls plus I found more girls I like to be! I this the more you cosplay the easier it is to be a girl because they really are harder costumes to sew luckily my sewing has gotten a lot better over the years xD

I want to crossplay as Misha from Pita-Ten. Or maybe Sasami from Tenchi Muyo. However, I have no idea how to make a costume. One of my co-workers said she could help me design a costume. She's a bit of an artist, too, so she might actually know what she's doing.

I must admit though.. when a girl that you know is attracted to you would help you make a crossplay costume of an anime character.. I dunno.. pretty damn interesting, I suppose..

Um... well... like Haruhi for example. If you're a girl it's cosplay, even if Haruhi is pretending to be a boy. After all, we're talking about genders, not character interest. ^_^ *shot for being stupid*

There was this one guy that hugged me really hard after I gave him pocky, and when he did, one of his legs somehow went between both of mine and sort of rubbed...against me. Not hard, I mean, no screaming agony of sqishage.

BUT.

He sort of made this weird face implying

"OMFG, YOU...HAVE A...UH. AHHHH. D:>>>"

And he sort of ran away.

I unno, I laughed for a LONG time over that. XD

So Tom, are there any other crossplayers in the club??

I didn't get to do much last time. I was saaad.
I wanna meet other crossplayers! n___n

I think Neko was going to let me help her on a Lolita pannel she's doing, and I'm not sure what we're doing, but it would be cool to introduce crossplay.

Or, at least, have someone make a pannel on crossplay in general.

I wonder if I could help with that?

I think we had a couple of Naruto character crossplayers last year but I can never remember who they were playing.

I think we have one other character this year that is technically crossplay. I think the costume is supposed to be a secret though. Sorry!

The closest I've ever come to "crossplaying" as Photoshopping some makeup onto my face one day. Plus, it was back when I had long hair. I'm certainly not going to post that picture to the main forum, hahahahaha..

Actually, that kind of action is considered sexual harrassment. :x

So, don't dare try a move like that unless you want to risk getting slapped or worse --that dude was lucky that Irate Beldam thought it was funny rather than harrassment. I believe that the con's policy is that you can be thrown out of the convention for harrassment (and possibly have a visit with the local police if they think it's necessary).   Just a warning, boys.

I'm sure the fact that he ended up getting another guy's dong pressed firmly against his kneecap was punishment enough. But yeah I agree, if that was intentional, it was really disgusting.

Someone told me that they were in a group with some people.. somehow the girl fell on the ground and a guy .. bit her butt(!?!). And then he was running around screaming, "I BIT HER BUTT, I BIT HER BUTT!"  Man, I'd have been ..

There was this one guy that hugged me really hard after I gave him pocky, and when he did, one of his legs somehow went between both of mine and sort of rubbed...against me. Not hard, I mean, no screaming agony of sqishage.

:3 Oh I'm gonna be crossplaying. XD and then I'll cosplay for a skit.

Im going mainly as Kadaj and MAYBE Orochimaru. But for a small part of the con I have to wear a schoolgirl outfit so I can do a dance thing. But i'll be switching back into my Kadaj cosplay afterwards. C:

I like crossplaying.

@ Tomthefanboy:  I love your Pocky Shogun armor.... It made me so happy.  ^_^

I've cosplayed for the past years (and will be doing so this year toooo), but this year I will hopefully be doing my first Crossplay.... Balthier from FFXII.  I'm tall and have long arms like him, so I'm pretty sure it'll work well!!

I crossplayed the last 2 years at KC as this maid character I created.  I'm bringing "her" back again this year but with a way better costume.  Plus I have 3 other crossplay costumes from actual anime:

Rei Ayanami (Evangelion--school uniform)
Nana Osaki (NANA--involves those short skirts...)
Tomo Tokino (Azumanga Daioh, pink uniform)

Don't worry I'll have 3 male costumes too!
In the future I'm looking at more crossplay--maybe Slayers and/or Ikki Tousen.

I'm cosplaying two, crossplaying one, possibly two.  I'm going as Mao from Code Geass and Komui from D Gray Man for my cosplays, then my crossplay is Hiyori from Bleach; I may add on Rukia because I dunno if I can wait till Sakuracon next year to cosplay her, even though that'll be more than one cosplay per day...
