I'd like to second the notion. I was actually surprised the GG tourney scheduled isn't slash, since it is the latest version of GG XX. =(

I dunno about official tournaments (since they tweaked a bunch of the old characters, i imagine a lot of people would complain if they actually did train on #R) but you and I could probably host an unofficial tourney, since there are open console nights. ;)

I played guilty gear at the mini con and liked it so much that I went out and ordered one :)

Really cool game.
Yaoi crossplay... is actually Yuri.

The latest version is Guilty Gear XX Accent Core, which is the one we are playing, and the one at the mini-con.
Trust us, we're up to date on GG...
http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=280289  <--- its also actually getting a US release next month (Unlike Slash)
Plus it fixed a lot of stuff that slash made boring... it was almost a step down from #R, but now its back to the crazy cool matches.

Fun note, but the thread here? It is a year old. The guys posting in this thread? Brought Slash to Sakura Con in Seattle. I'm one of em! Hehe, but anyhow, count on us to be at the tourney (as long as you guys don't randomly change the hours around so we miss it again... >:()

So I'm back from the con and the tourney was ace, guys. A little slow to get started and I'm not a big fan of double-elim as it just takes too damn long, but it was still a blast to play some Guilty Gear with awesome players. Makes me feel the need to play more and improve.

Just a random thought on next year, perhaps find a MAME cabinet and hold the tourney on it? That would be epic if we could possibly do it.

My computer was there from the start of the gaming room and had MAME / Melty Blood Act Cadenza up from time to time... (it wasn't really advertised for obvious reasons...)

But no to the arcade MAME cab.  too much effort, just buy a hori real arcade pro (hrap) and a box to put it on.

I'm contemplating it. Those were pretty slick. Perhaps this next year we can just have a couple of those and just use them? Might be awesome. Either way, I'm all for helping out with the tourney next year. Also, we definitely need to get some Melty Blood up. I have it on my PS2, the older version a'course.

Oh so hey, where would be a good place to buy a hori?

I've been practicing on my gg judgment, is there problem with my method of training, I have only played up to xx reloaded. so Im not sure if my layout is going to be eny use, espesly if the controls are diffrent, but ive been practicing and I think I could be almost good enough to beat the guy from genshiken, I realy do pwn all my freinds when I play them

You probably have a long ways to go.  Judgement is an outdated version, 2 behind so far.  Go buy GGXX Accent Core for $30 at EB/Gamestop.
The guy from Genshiken was practicing dustloops instead of making out with his gf.  As far as fictional characters skill level goes, he was on  par with some of the better players, of course the in game videos sorta sucked... but hey, it was Isuka for the most part and just combos in the others.

But anyway, if you're really trying to get good at that game, feel free to msg me, we practice every week. Or check the threads on dustloop.com for the regions sections.  If youre from pdx, where the hell have you been? and if youre from WA area, check around for some people in your area.  Theres a bunch of sporadic players.

I have a gripe I need to mention.

Even though Sol is over powered to begin with, what was the point of adding Order Sol?

I can understand him being a new boss, but actually using him is just unfair.

I was using him and actually pulled off his Dragon Install: Sakkai and it just decimated to the point that I felt I had cheated my opponent.

On a different note, it's nice to see Instant Kills are back. I mostly kept playing the older versions of the game because I enjoyed using those randomly.

Haven't checked here in forever... hah, and I immediately respond to the GG thread.
HOS plays very differently from Sol cause he needs to get close, and sol can just gunflame FRC to get in while HOS works for it.
Sol hasnt really been overpowered for awhile, and this is the second iteration for HOS, he was improved since Slash cause he really really sucked back then.  Now hes 'decent'.  His DI is just for kicks because mainly - you probably wont have a chance to have full meter and full charge bar because you'll be using it try to get in close on the offensive.

And IK's have been in all GG except Isuka, which really doesnt count as its not a traditional GG game.

Tourney on the 15th!  Woot!
http://booyagames.com/tournament/
Most of the people that stuck around at the tourney I mentioned this too.  But hey, wont hurt to post it up again.

While true, keep in mind the last GG we got in America before AC was Isuka.

Which does suck, so, I got used to not using IK's.

I always did wonder what A.B.A.'s was gonna be, I was slightly disappointed by it, though. >_>

And yeah, I hardly post around anymore, either.

Could it be that Isuka has actually improved someone's ability to play?
