Does anyone know of any good, affordable sushi joints around the con area? A few people in my group will want sushi some time during our trip.

Also, if any of you want to join us, just let me know. I'd love to meet new people.

My recommendation would be Sushi Land in the Pearl district. it's a little ways off from the con area, but with the buses/max/streetcar it shouldn't take you too long to get there. you can get most of the good sushi for 1.50 per plate (2 pieces each) and everything is on a moving conveyor belt! My friends and I usually spend about $9 when we go.

"Con area" can have a much different meaning depending on what the OP is thinking of. Are you looking for something within walking distance to the hotel where the convention is? Or something in the general Portland area (since your location does say you're from Alaska)?

If the con area you mean is walking distance to the hotel, there isn't any sushi available except if you want to walk across the I-5 bridge to Vancouver, which is a couple miles to walk. If you mean the Portland area there are like 40 restaurants various people can recommend.

Sushi Land aka Marinepolis is my favorite, and they have another location about a block from Lloyd Center too.

The cheapest sushi I can recall finding is Umenoki in the Mall 205 area, which is right off of I-205 at Stark St, on the east side of the freeway, in the strip mall that faces the freeway.

I'll have to check out Sushi-Land on the way in from Seattle. It sounds good.

Anyone want to meet up there? After I talk to people in my group, I'll figure out when we're going and I'll post it.

My hubby and I really want to check out the conveyour belt sushi and plan on going there during Kumoricon. We hadn't decided on what night to go so when are you are going and maybe we can go together!

hey today i was cleanig out the garbage cans in my shop and stuck to the bottom I found some Wasabbi packages. The last time I had Sushi here at work had to have been a year ago.
