I like them all, personally. Shounen/shoujo-ai are a bit more my thing though. I wouldn't say I'm a fangirl by any means, but I think it's cute.

I know several people on this site have said they don't like it, but how about the people who do? Who are you? What couplings do you like/wish would happen?

I like it!!! *hugs bishis* I dont mind the girl girl thing in anime but (not to ANY hentai extreme at all) but I like guyXguy better and they have to be pretty bishi men people, lol. Not old men grandpa shrine running farts who love each other. Yes... I am one of those girls in the back watching anime with you that squeels when theres a small little touch on the cheeck between to bishi. LOL :roll:

I like Shounen Ai, and Superjaz bought me some super cute Gundam Seed Doujin from when she was staying over in Japan, and although i'd like to own it (legally. XDD) I'm still too young to look (legally) at Hardxcore stuff, but I don't really know how into that I'd be...

I'm having trouble finding any eally awesome Shoujo Ai stuff though. Atlot of it's like, catered to men, so... ick. Lots of large chested, small wiasted Barbie dolls. T_T I do like Revolutionary Girl Utena (I've only seen one movie, though)... And I'm yet to see Maria ga sama miteru (sp?) but it looks good.

Once my friend and I went to anime club not realizing that tuesday meetings are actually "yaoi night" It was my first time seeing any anime of this genre but I was not really a fan. Just didn't really like the plot or anything. I think I left early, don't really remember ;-;

Uhhh... no. I am a bit of a pervert and the names I used are just shorthand of couples like KouInu is Kouga and Inu Yasha from Inu Yasha and KakaIru is Kakashi and Iruka from Naruto.... Sorry for the confusion I tend to either ramble or flie off the hand.... I am such an odd duck. :?

I got the ship-shorthand but I couldn't figure out who they were. For example I have no clue who or even what series SunaNoi is from. If you decide to type that again I recommend adding a note of where they're from like Taiora (Digimon).

Anyway, Shoujo-ai is a term for a girl x girl relationship in anime (can it be used in real life?). This can mean anything from a really close friendship to two girls having a complete relationship with each other. However this does not include sex; kissing at the most. Yuri is shoujo-ai with sex.

Shounen-ai is pretty close to the same description above but is a guy x guy relationship. Yaoi is shounen-ai with sex.

Okay, I'm rereading my post and something just seems off with my descriptions like I'm leaving something out. Anyone want to add something to this?

And before I forget, a Japanese lesson.
Shoujo= young girl, Shounen= young boy, Ai= love
I'm told Yuri and Yaoi didn't originate in Japan but it's basically Yuri=Strong girlxgirl love, Yaoi=Strong guyxguy love

Hey all,

I have a request from some brave souls. I have very little adult programming for the convention this year. Yes, there are a few things, but they are quite broad and don't go into shonen-ai, shojo-ai, yaoi, or yuri hardly at all. So I guess what I'm saying is, Im looking for people who are willing to run some panels on the subject. Talk about what you know, what you love, or maybe just a yaoi lovers meet and greet. Whatever you can come up with, if you feel you're capable (or even if you don't and get an instanity streak) please email me at programming@kumoricon.org or pm and we can make sure that all aspects of anime are covered at Kumoricon.

Both terms did originate in Japan, but yaoi is no longer really used (the current term for it is "Boys Love" or "BL"). Here's both terms on Wikipedia:

The Yaoi Zowie! panel at Sakura-Con was really interesting and informative on the subject. Will there be something like it at Kumoricon? (I don't remember the name of the woman who ran the panel, but I know she teaches in Oregon.) If there is, every yaoi fan should check it out.

And yes, I'm a yaoi/boys love/slash fanatic. <33 I enjoy romance of any kind so long as it's well done (contrary to popular belief, there are het and yuri pairings I like), but generally I prefer man-on-man. ;3

Getting into all the fandoms and pairings I like would take a while (and could potentially get messy), but I will say that I'm a Saiyuki Whore and have a "thing" for rival pairings (I'm currently in a huge Kazuma/Ryuho from s.CRY.ed phase). And I'm not (right now) into any of the wildly popular series: Naruto, Inu Yasha, etc. I could see myself getting into FMA, but I have to see more of it first.

There was someone at Sakuracon that did a good panel on adult content in anime, although the talks had nothing to do with violence and gore I did stick around to here this lady talk on the new trends of hentai and such coming into the US. *gets out sakuracon guide book* hmm just says it was in AV Panel room 604 on Saturday at 10. Maybe contact the sakuracon ppl for names and contact info?

Now I could be wrong about this, but I believe the Yaoi Zowie! Panel originated in Kumoricon last year. Then again, I don't know anything about Sakuracon so it could have been there first.

I think she did mention being at Kumoricon (I know she's run the panel at some past convention, anyway). But wherever it started, I hope something like it will be at the con this year.

Into what kind of hentai? As much as I love FMP!, it's one of the least slash-able series ever (or my perception could just be distorted because Sousuke/Kaname is one of the very few het pairings I actually like).

Actually, it really doesn't matter to me what kind of hentai it would be, as I think FMP! is fantastic the way it is. To turn it into porn would ruin everything that makes it great. :\ While I am by no means anti-pornography, it has zero value when it comes to story, characters, etc. Hentai is about the sex; no more, no less.

I like relationship stories, and there seems to be *alot* more character development with shoujo/shounen-ai than alot of other stuff, but I like my fair amount of stuff that has been based off of H games... KNGE (yay coming to america) and most stuff by key (kanon, air, etc)

Well, Sousuke and Kaname will no doubt get together when the series eventually reaches it's end. And if, as you're suggesting, it was a tastefully done hentai, then I could go for that.

I love it all, if it is well done. A good relationship is a good relationship no matter who the characters are and it draws you in and as for including sex, I am kinda sick of seeing anime/reading manga where the adult characters never get together....doesn't have to be graphic to be a part of the storyline....

I enjoy fluff and teasing a lot, and a limited amount of shounen-ai. (For example Hikaru and Kaoru of Host Club ^_^) Though I don't really like anything that goes beyond teasing, picnics, and good fun unless its straight pairings. I will read doujinshi my friends have if they tell me its 100% fluff.
