My favorite Japanese store is Uwajimaya. They are 100% japanese and sell raw fish, sake, and other food there you have no idea what it is because its all in Kanji. And then they have a book store with anime, LOTS of manga, cook books, cd's, ect.

My favorite place for anime is Fry's in Mcminville where they sell box sets for $20-30 of whole series and when they get manga in it's $3.99 a book. Otherwise I get my manga at Borders Express and anime online... hehehe... Either download it or buy cheap box sets from online dealers.  :D

Fo manga I go to my local comic book store, Borders, sometimes Waldens because they will sometimes have manga the Borders doesn't have for some strange reason, and Suncoast for anime.  I also love to go to Kinokuniya in Beaverton.

But none of them even compete to the Kinokuniyas in Tokyo.  ^_^

Many bookstores carry Manga now. Suncoast does too (atleast at Clackamas Town Center they do.) But my favorite Japanese store (Manga and more) would be the Uwajimaya/Kinokuniya combination in Beaverton. I haven't been there since December but will be going back soon.

Too bad Sambi's (like the BEST Japanese restaurant I've ever been to) moved out of Uwajimaya... But, it's should still be close enough where it isn't a hassle to go from Sambi's to Uwajimaya or vice verse.

Do they still have them all in plastic sleeves that you can't open for browsing?  I remember just in general they had a huge graphic novel section and I am sure that by now it has gotten really big.
The trick is not minding.

Actually they have three differnt sections for manga, some bigger than the others. I was there just a few months ago for an art department feild trip after we went to a meuseum.

Theres the section that all of it is in the plastic, then theres another section thats by the kids section, and then theres another section in foregin language, but all of them are the original japanese books and then on the shelfs against the wall by the japanese manga they have the art collection books.

I purchased most of my manga at Walden Books in Massachusetts which is owned by Borders.  I have purchased some at hot topic and Borders as well and I just found a few good deals at a small comic book store called Mind Candy in downtown Vancouver, I got 4 brand new mangas of like Excel saga and some others for like $6-$7 which was pretty good compared to the $10 in most stores for the same books

It's in Mcminville about 30 or 40 minutes south of portland.  Every time I drive up to portland we stop at Fry's (it's right off I-5) and get PC parts, games and hamburgers.   Every thing is cheap and name brands only once did they not have a piece of hardware I was looking for and I forget what that was.   I often wait a few months on getting$50 PC games and get them for $5 new at fry's

It's in Mcminville about 30 or 40 minutes south of portland.  Every time I drive up to portland we stop at Fry's (it's right off I-5) and get PC parts, games and hamburgers.

Actually I used to work at Fry's Electronics(right?) And I lived in Mcminnville for almost a year. We never sold hamburgers there(I worked in the cafe), but it is a big warehouse that has a cafe and lots of computer stuff. It's actually located in Wilsonville, OR. Which is Located at

29400 SW Town Center Loop W, Wilsonville, OR(503) 570-6000

It's the only Fry's in Oregon. XD The better one is in Renton, WA.
They have a pretty nice anime collection, but be careful when shopping for popular titles, because it's really likely that they'd of jacked up prices on them. Not trying to sound rude or snotty, just letting you know the address. Also! Never buy a computer there without getting the performance guarantee! I bought my laptop there, got the PG and since, my computer has had several problems, and I've been able to get them repaired for free. XD

Anyways!
My favorite Japanese store is Uwajimaya of course. (es excited about the Sakura Festival) I buy most my Manga at the local Borders(Gresham City Hall) and Every now and then, I'll go out with my friends to Sushiville...Er, even though I don't like sushi. XD

We are always in a hurry to get to portland then we are sucked in by the fry's sign and spend an hour going over bargin games then all we have time for is drive though Big Macs and Fries.

I'm plotting out the script for "Leashy and Spindrift go to fry's”.  It’s a road show with a quest like Harold and Kumar go to White castle.  In this epic adventure the holy quest item is the last copy for sale in America of a recalled manga with a real dreamy Bishi villain.  The part near thee end with the Hang Glider is being replaced with a giant Japanese kite.  What should all the other obstacles be?

I shop there as often as possible, and the book store has a great selection. Everything is always super new! : D
I live in Shelton, which is a tiny bit north of Oly, Wa. so the drive to seattle is easy enough to make, short than down to Portland. @.@ Driving to Kumori con last year wasn't fun at all. x.x

I like the Just Be Complex. Aside from movies and anime for rent/buy, they have collectible figurines and toys as well as swanky art and magazines. Downtown Portland, in Chinatown. 5th and Everett near the Greyhound Station.

Oh yeah after I posted that Link yesterday in the anime manga stores thread!!!!

I realy like there 1/6 figures but I was not going to pay $100 for a upscale Gi Joe spy chick i'll just have to stick with redressing barbi in military gear and giving her a gun.
