Oh, so I just read about the whole gift exchange thing and I'm not sure about the couples thing. Drawing lots at the thing may be best in case someone can't make it or couldn't get a gift in time. Just to be cautious. We wouldnt want someone without a gift.

Or we could have the people who want to give something to the other person in their 'couple' _{(providing the other person is at the meeting of course)} do that.. and then the remaining people who don't have somebody pre-chosen could put their names in the hat and be paired up randomly..

I don't think the name in a hat is a bad idea, though I'm thinking if we have people pick who they give their gift to they will end up giving it to their friend and the left over people would feel left out.
