So, what is everyone's plans for next year? Sticking with the same? Changing it up?

Hopefully for next year I'll be doing Soul with my girlfriend doing Maka. If I have extra time I might even do a version of Soul during transformation when his arm is in scythe mode, but that is only if I get absolutely everything else done.

So I have a plan for Pattys costume, teh only thing I'm stuck on are the hat and the shorts.
The hat I'm just going to try to buy offline hopefully, but how would I do the shorts?
I can get a good length but I don't know how I would poof them out.

what about makeing them longer but haveing elastic in the bottom so you can push them up? or gather the bottom on wider ones and make the "cuff" of the leg fit the spot on your leg?

Elastic is probably the best way to go, but if you were really wanting it to just be a temporary thing, they make something called "flash tape." It's typically used to hold the chest line of a top in place or to keep buttons from gapping, but if you don't mind having the shorts taped to your thighs, it might work for something like that. You could also keep a roll around handy anyway for last minute touch ups and to supplement the elastic so it wouldn't have to be circulation stopping tight.

I just realized that for my Excalibur cosplay, I'll have to take my head off just to walk around, I don't want to have a buddy to lead me. So if you see Excalibur headless, don't cheer/cry for his death. It's so I can see .__.

I'd say go with navy. Maybe you could print out some pictures of her outfit and take them with you to match the colors when you go to buy fabric? That's what I always do.

You'll want pupils. There are only a few cosplays that you can get away with having no pupil, and SE isn't one of them. So I'd stick with a natural green.

As for props, I'll let someone who has actually made the scythe talk about it.

For contacts you should probably go for the pure green, since that's how her eyes are under normal circumstances.

As far as the scythe, I can help with tips since props, specifically weaponry, are my specialty. You're going to want to make sure that it is weighted, cause otherwise it'll throw you off when you move it around. You also want to avoid too heavy of materials, so you'll want either an extremely light wood(avoid particle board though) or craft foam for the blade part. For the pole, a wooden pole should do just fine or even a light metal.

However I would really recommend you commission someone to make it instead since you've never made anything. Scythes are trickier to make than other weapons because of the balance issue along with stability.

Have you thought of using plaster cast to make your face then use wires and more plaster to make the odd shape of Excaliburs face? If you go to the year round halloween shop in Beaverton you can buy a top hat for 20$ and paint it white.

So, you've probably gotten past this already, but if not, Burda pattern number 7227 has poofy shorts. They're not super poofy, but I'm sure the pattern can be adapted for a bit more poof.

Also, on Friday, the 31st of August I was thinking of a beach theme photo shoot. Just up the street from Kumoricon is Vancouver lake park. It's $3 per car to get it, so if people carpool it would be fun. There is enough room to throw a frisbee and I will personally be sporting a pretty sexy black swim suit because there is a lake to swim in. We should take that into consideration...

Ha ha, it has been greatly reduced actually. xD;; I only have a DtK, Liz, Soul, Spirit, and Child Crona while I cosplay as Medusa. But yeah, I didn't hear anything about a photo shoot for Soul Eater, just a panel going on.

But if there is one, I'd be going as Death the Kid and I'd drag along my sis and my bestie as Liz and Patty.

(By the way, we'll be Kid, Liz, and Patty day 1.... I'll be Kid most of the day, just not for the Durarara photoshoot. xD I think I'll have a Liz and Patty up until after the panel, after that, I'll have them in Weapon form!)

But I don't know what day most of everyone's planning to do their SE cosplays, but I'd love to find some other Soul Eater cosplayers to hang out with! *We all need to be in the glomp circle. xD)

I think I'll be Death the Kid most of the time, though.

ANYWAY, if you want to find us, I'm the Kid who's shorter than his Liz and Patty and whose Patty is taller than my Liz. xD And my Liz and Patty cosplayers aren't wearing half-shirt turtle neck tanks, but full turtle neck tanks.
