Just wondering if there's anyone who's going to K-con11 dressed in steampunk finery. Any tips? Questions? Share them here!

I will be wearing my Steampunk Cheshire Cat to Kumo!

I will also have a small group of Steampunked Wonderland characters.

So far there's me as the Cheshire Cat, FateChooseMe as the Red Queen and luvan1me as Alice. Seeing if others want to join us as well.

I didn't know there WAS a Steampunk Film Festival!
And I'll be in Portland on the 12th, so maybe I could go. Is it awesome?

Looks it to me! If you go to the site, you can see previews for almost everything that will be showing.

It's possible that my partner in crime and I will be doing Christine and Eric from the Phantom of the Opera. If that's the case, I won't be able to stand it if I don't do something original with our outfits. I'm kind of looking for any ways I could integrate steampunk into the mask (or the whole outfit for that matter)... Ideas?

Gears added make anything look Steampunk.

Outfit wise, the Victorian/ballroom type clothing is pretty much what they wear, so I wouldn't think you'd need to change it much.

The mask is prime creativity territory. Gears, pistons, paint. Maybe make it look like half a bronze android face? Phantom mask (the half-mask) with a monocle would be awesome as well. Maybe Christine could have a corset or skirt made out of music-sheet print fabric, or a fan/parisol covered with music sheets.

anybody know a good place online to find steampunk clothing

for steampunk I would look on ebay you can find some really nice steampunk deals there

just look for places that sell victorian clothing.

as for goggles and other specialized steampunk objects dont buy those online unless you get the $99-$150 ones because all the ones lower are normally made of cheap painted plastic and not leather or anything like that same thing goes with weapons for sure.

NERF guns can make some really freaking awesome Steampunk weapons. Just paint them and add some details!

Just letting you know, I did that K-con 2010 and they barely let me have them, even though I had no ammo on me. My advice would be to actually make a gun out of spare parts (candlesticks are always fun).

okay, my high school prom is kinda lame this year so I'm going with my own theme. I chose steampunk masquerade. but, I dont have any goggles or any acessories. I'm looking for a cheap fairy skirt, and a steampunk shirt. I have the cincher and lace up boots. titus is letting me borrow a hat, and i cant have any weapons. im making my own mask. but if oyu have any gears and cogs that you arent using, can i please have them?

FYI, Google PDX GEAR Con. It's by the same folks as Rose City Steampunk Film Fest, and is a new Portland Steampunk Con, July 22-24 I believe, at the Crowne Plaza.
