Even though it was suggested for Roseburg, it's a three hour drive, speeding, from Portland to Roseburg. And a good number of Hetalia cosplayers, short of the groups in Eugene and Roseburg its self, seem to be in or around Portland.
Besides, even though I didn't go, it seemed like the Hetalia Day last year did just fine in Portland. D:

A Portland trip every now and then is healthy and fun! I think Portland has the most cosplayers so it makes sense to have it where the most people are.

All right so we got some people associated to go, but now we need to figure out the time of the event and who's going to carpool (cuz thats important too!) As for the time and location, a park is always awesome and there are plenty here, thankfully. Hmm, I can think of quite a few good ones here... *researches*
Time-wise, late afternoon would be easier for those travelling from Portland and such; so maybe 1 or 2PM at the earliest? And I'm all for 6PM for the ending time. :3

I agree with the park thing. There are lots of amazing parks here too. I also like the idea of making it just a bit longer~ Maybe a 1 or 2PM start time. That way, the people who have to drive a ways have a good break~ n.n

Haha I've only been to Alton Baker and Hendricks parks here~ I like Alton baker for its wide open space, but Hendricks was really beautiful and forested~ I dunno about the others.

Everyone, all right so heres the new rough estimate of the time 1-6 pm leaves good le-way for people from around to arrive

And yes the location bit we are still kinking out, but does anyone have any idea of some special events we can do? Maybe have a bit of potluck for everyone (world peace picnic ftw~) And other than a probable photoshoot, anyone have any fun ideas? :3

There's a possibility that you have to actually reserve the shelters, especially for a group this big. I could be wrong, but it would be wise to check. We could of course just steal an empty one, but if another group shows up and says they have it reserved, we have to leave. Best to avoid that situation.

It is highly unlikely that I will go, btw. I have a con that next weekend so spending money to get down to Eugene is pretty unlikely. >> But if I do go I'll be Norway and force Malaria to be Sealand bwahaha

So apparently we do need to reserve a shelter if we want to use one for this event. I also read that the planner is required to have a park rental permit which costs money, and that they have to call the rental coordinator in order to confirm the date and location, and then come up with a price for the shelter.

@Kyo: So, do we want to try that out or go with another plan? Either way, if we want to use a shelter in any other park, we still have to rent one. I can give you the link to all the info if you still want to go through with it? We can each pitch in if it's needed.

Edit: Also, if the number of people is under a certain amount... I forgot what it is... Like 20 or something, I don't think that we need a permit. The only problem would be if the shelter was reserved for another event. As long as it isn't raining, we probably wouldn't absolutely need the shelter. I'm just thinking aloud~ XD

I suggest the Kings game.

How the game works:
Get some small peices of paper, and make sure their is one for every person that is playing.
Number them for how ever many people, BUT leave one left to write king on.
Ex: If their are 20 people playing, You would number them 1-19 and the 20th peice of paper would say king.
Everyone sits in a circle and draws a peice of paper at random, Once everyone has one, you look to see what was written.
Who ever gets "KING" Is the king, and their word is LAW.
The King then picks a random number, 1-(how ever many are playing) and makes them do whatever they wish.
Main rule is, you aren't supposed to know who is which number.
Ex: The king orders number 3 and 6 to race to some location. With out thinking, both people should get up and run.
Once that kings wish is complete, all the papers go to the last king, and you draw again, begining another round.
I love this game, and I feel other people will too.
BUT!
Rules-
Nothing innappropriate.
Nothing involving people outside of the people at the meet up.
and no doing anything illegal or harmful to others, whether it be in character, joking, or other wise.
THE KINGS WORD IS LAW.

I suggest a reschedule, because being caught in a downpour doesn't sound very appealing, even with a rain shelter.

GOOD WEATHER STORY.

My friend and I were going to drive to seatlle for sakuracon last year, and apperently the BIGGEST STORM OF THE YEAR WAS ROLLING IN, HABIDFAHSFKNNO!!@!1! and my parents were freaking the eff out. but we went anyway and once we got there, it pretty much only sprinkeled like, 2 times the whole weekend. :T

I had never watched any until last night at Wuntvor's Anime Friday. Watched the first 3 and was amazed by the level of crack. I can see why it's addictive and I was also like WTH really? Whoever came up with the idea is genius.

That said best wishes for the event, I might happen by (more likely I'll be at work) but I am not immersed (yet) in the fandom enough to have any cosplay for it.
