My parents own this place actually. But the problem with this place is that its a bit beat up since it's pretty old.

However I'm confident that we can fix it up. But we have to work hard because it's unpredictable how good the business will be.

One would also need people who are actually lisenced to handle some things, too, depending on the state of the proposed site...

Well then, this just went from a 99% likelihood of not happen to around a 50% chance possibility of success (though I refer to actually getting to the point of serving someone, and not the overall success of the store.)  I hope new insight and progress continues to come forward in this project.  I'm Looking forward to a future meeting with a significant progress report, and an ideas and development discussion.

This thread is relevant to my interests. :)

Also, I have skycap experience and I'm comfortable objectifying myself in a sexy waiter suit. I can wait tables and keep people happy. :D

Well i have a idea for this to be easier to get ideas from everyone! I will make a meet up date as soon as i feel all better and ill bring a few boxes so people can write down there ideas and put them in the boxes and if you have uniform ideas or designs for the cafe you can do it when ever you want and turn them in to me or soryko when the meet up comes around. Nyaa~ :3
[/b]

So after catching up and reading everything...
We should have a meet-up date and actually attend! XD I'd be happy to meet up with KonekoKaulitz and design something. ^o^-

Awesome, if this is going up, my mom will probably give a A-Ok to this.

She's probably going to buy a new business place near Lloyd, and I'm pretty sure it was called "The Orient"
If you guys seen it,  that's probably the place where the Cosplay Cafe will be running their business from.

I just discovered I would be able to help with something like this around here during Fall. The Summer is going to leave me too anxious to leave my current stuff. I like making bread while making bread(So I can cosplay while I cosplay...). ;)

I'm still willing to be the Coordinator!

Just wanted to point that out.
Being a coordinator makes you part of a family. Mine was a very small family of skycaps(~150ish). I'll share what I discovered from this experience: If you are part of this family, you will be loved...

Violently.

Don't take too many days off and remember to start eating vitamins like Cheetos! <3

You know, for the uniform for the maids you could take different maid outfits from different animes/mangas and choose one of those or mix and match. Like, let the maids choose which one they want to wear.
You could use like Mikuru's maid outfit from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu or Shion's Mort Cafe outfit from Higurashi.

Mikuru

It can, of course, be longer.

Angel Mort Shion

That was the best I could find of it but I bet if you search around you could find better.

Is it bad that I laughed when I saw the Shion pic?  Seriously, I did one of those little snort-chuckle-things when I saw it.  I blame her facial expression...

I think perverts are going to be pooring in too o__o but we can maybe have security? like if they are being inappropriate with the maid that get 2 warnings then they get asked to leave?
[Btw this is Koneko]

@Mew - that's close to the Californian border, isn't it?  Well, at least we'll see you at Kumoricon, right?

@Squirrel - Depending on WHAT said perverts would do, I'd say screw the warning and kick 'em out right then and there.  I'd be up for doing security, too, since I doubt ALL of my time would go into coordinating...

If you want some help with ideas you should check out these cafes.
Look at their prices, food, games, maids, and how the building is set-up.
Then set a budget; I'd also recommend that doing something where, during a certain time (lunch, dinner, etc.) You have Cosplay time then you have maid time. Cosplay time is where the workers wear any cosplay or the cafe sets a theme. (Swim suit, Ninja, Teacher, Animal, etc.) and Maid time is where the workers wear the same Maid uniform.
Because if you stick with official uniform image it will help promote your cafe.
Here's a link to ALL of the cafes in Japan.
http://moeten.info/maidcafe/
http://www.royal-t.org/ (This maid cafe is in Cali) since they’ve been here this long they must be doing something right. lol

Here are the rules for all Maid cafes;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqOW_87_gNk

1. Do not touch a maid's body
2. No asking for a maid's phone number
3. No asking for a maid's email address
4. Don't infringe on a maid's privacy by asking what time she gets off work
5. Do not stalk or persistently pick up a maid
6. Don't linger outside the cafe waiting for her to come in or go out
7. No harming the employees, guests, or neighbors of this cafe
8. No taking photos of the maids or the interior and exterior of the cafe ( They charge $5 for a photo with a maid)
9. Don't bring outside food or drink into the cafe
10. No smoking on the stairs outside the cafe

Here are some Theme cafe videos;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5S0xA4V2tgc&feature=fvwrel
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0TOW1xTGMg&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqGv0kR_yMk&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOucsztZJSw

But really it's a lot of work. I tried doing one myself, but it was going to cost around $20,000 just to start. So you’re going to need a huge team, lol. I think the best thing to do is ask a cafe, bakery, etc. and see if you can team up with them and do a Maid cafe event, just to get a feel of how your team will be and how much you can take. Because opening a place is a HUGE thing to do, and takes months even years to get ready. I really wish you luck ^_^ because I would love to see this happen, I would even drive there and work. Portland, OR needs a place like this and I think it will be a lot of fun.

I just cant see why we cant have an age limit for rules to set, and the bodygaurds can do id cheaks so the really old pervy men get no warning

Well for one if you set an age limit that just put out there for the gerenal public that somthings up. A business will not put an age limit on there place unless their going to be ADULT themed; which you don't want to give off.

Also really Maid Cafes don't get as many creepers as you might think. Maid Cafes have become very faimly friendly, girls go more than guys now and there are eve couples going.

Also no matter what you do in life there's going to be creepers, trust me. Sides if you keep the uniform longer than knee length and your workers know how to just put on a show and not get to intamte you should be fine. I know tons of cafes where the girls wear very long skirts too. lol

These are Maid cafe workers here in the US and from what i've read and watched they haven't had any trouble with creepers.

Thats a good point-
for uniforms we could come up with our own themes and it is a cosplay cafe-
so maidy- wairtressy versions work too.

Yep, or you can do both if the team is willing. You can do early in the day Cosplay; Anything goes the workers pick/ make their costume. Then for later in the day your designed/theme Maid uniforms.

Or you can make your uniforms more on the cosplay side like theses.

Thanks ^-^ lol I got the idea from the oldest and longest running Maid cafe in Japan. But the name escapes me XP lol In an interview he was talking about the cosplay and maid times and he said it brings in more people because they never know what to expect. I would also recommend longer hours, having a place open for the late night crowd will help bring money in.

From what I’ve seen most Maid cafes don't open till 11 a.m and I’ve started seeing some not closing till 2 a.m. This for Portland, OR is a good thing.
