I hate ping pong and tennis for the same reason. I play my best baseball then.  ::)

At least I don't when bowling. But it is about as bad.

Is it football yet?

I can't watch any sport on TV except basketball.  I'm a huge fan.  At least NBA.  Not so much college.

^^ Hey... sounds like you've got a cool mom, there!

^ Not so much college-anything, myself.  There's no reason to get so into it so much, unless one has some sort of tie to the school.

^^^ Psh, football. You guys sound like my grandma. My grandmother had the police sent to her house a few times when my mom was little because she was screaming so violently at the football players on the TV ("You son of a b****! Get your f****** hands off of him, you piece of s***!") that they were certain that someone was being abused.

It's better than soccer fans who riot with each other when an official makes a bad call (or doesn't make the right call) or whenever the opposing team scores a goal.

I used to be into basketball when I was much smaller. Of course, that was 1st grade, and I was obsessed with Space Jam. And I was all "OMG, basketball is so cool! I wanna play basketball too!" Then next year I started playing it in P.E., and I was all "LOL, I suck at this, I don't liek basketball anymore." I was an easily discouraged little kid.

"Talking 'bout the Space Jam. Space Jam. Alright! Put your hands in the air like you're feelin' fine! We're gonna take it into overtime. Talkin' 'bout that Space Jam!"

Up until about a month ago I had glow-in-the-dark Space Jam planet and star stickers on my ceiling. As I am now 24, I finally figured it was time to take down the glow-in-the-dark stars.

Now if I could only move out of my parents' place. Lawl! I'm a stereotype!

I've been listening to ESPN radio on the Internet all freakin' night at work here. Sometimes I do things because it hurts, I guess. At least we don't have the usual moron on right now. Would have been nice ot listen to a live baseball game, but they played at 11am.

Uh.. and what exactly is wrong with glow in the dark stars?  I've still got some and I think it would be pretty cool to get a lot more and fill everything out with constellations and everything, I'm just as old as you!

I actually have *2* glow in the dark stars in my bedroom.  I think I put them up there when I was like 13 or 14, heh.  The rest of them fell from the ceiling on their own.  And I don't think these even glow anymore.  D:  Or if they do, it is very faint.

Y'know, hearing about all the glowy stars has made me want to share a story about that time earlier this year when a couple friends of mine lived with me for a few months because their parents were being big meany heads. I'd blow $20 at a time on glow bracelets and the like, and we'd stay up late in the dark with all the glow sticks on, being completely obnoxious (and maybe playing truth or dare, but I'm not supposed to share those stories. xD) and just having a grand old time. When we got tired, we'd hang them up everywhere and pass out on the floor. Good times, good times.

Oh yeah! This topic is about sports! Um.....I take Kempo! ^^

Great. This means my mom has control over the television until the season is over. She seriously is the most impressive NFL buff I know of other than my neighbor who used to play for the Buffalo Bills.

Haha. I didn't think there would be any Bills fans here to be honest. He doesn't talk about his football days much (only once have I heard the story) so I'm going to have to respect his privacy and say no to that, Washougal. Sorry.

And seriously. You don't mess with my mom and football. It's pretty funny.

Jay, he played back in the 70's. He's not any young sprite any more. I will say my neighbor's a huuuuuuuge duck fan.

My brother and I just switched over from Comcast to DirecTV.  I am so going to get myself into trouble when basketball season starts up.

(One downside.............. I can't watch Blazers home games that air on Comcast SportsNet.)

@ Lychee, I think we can rule out O.J. Simpson then. Not a Duck fan.

And I think I vaguely remember him being an honorary captain at a Duck game a year or two back.

@Reppy, you can get football now with Direct TV. As if the Blazers are not going to do something else stupid, real soon.

Well, Batum is definitely something to watch. His first game back after injury was bloody amazing. Roy wasn't nearly as impressive last year, and I don't think that Pryzbilla will be back because he injured his knee again back towards the end of last season. We'll see what Oden does, but when you look like you're mid 40's when you're actually 23 or close to, there's something wrong with you on a genetic or hormonal level. That's not a healthy sign.

I think I am going to watch more hockey this year too. The Olympics were awesome for hockey. THe Stanley Cup playoffs were too. I even noticed that Jeld-Wen, an Oregon company had ads on the boards of the rink for the Montreal Canadiens! huh. That, and there's Mom's Snak-Shak in Creswell, and the owner is from Quebec, and so hockey is spoken there. I think he once had something to do with teaching NHL goalies too, but I haven't asked if I heard that right.

But, I don't know if I should be a Detroit Red Wings fan still, or switch to the Canadiens. Blackhawks, because Marion Hossa was once a Winter Hawk?

7 DAYS UNTIL THE NFL SEASON STARTS!!!

Any predictions?

Here's mine:
(Division: Most likely to win, high possible Wild-Card, possible Wild-Card)
NFC West: San Francisco, Seattle, Arizona
NFC South: New Orleans, Atlanta
NFC North: Green Bay, Minnesota
NFC East: Philadelphia, New York, Dallas

AFC West: Denver, San Diego, Oakland
AFC South: Houston, Jacksonville
AFC North: Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Cleveland
AFC East: Miami, New York

Assuming I'm right:
Super Bowl: Philadelphia vs. Cincinnati.  Winner: Cincinnati by +9

NFC South: New Orleans, Atlanta
NFC North: Green Bay, Minnesota
NFC East: Philadelphia, Washington

AFC West: Denver, Oakland
AFC South: Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville
AFC North: Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Baltimore
AFC East: New York, New England

Well, the next Mariners game is on Tuesday, and Ichiro has 193 hits thus far!  There are 13 games left for Seattle, with the next 9 being on the road (3 in Toronto, 3 in Tampa Bay, 3 in Texas)!  GO ICHIRO!!!

You know what I'd like to do sometime?  Go to a Winterhawks game.  And maybe a Timbers game.

I've been to a couple minor league baseball games and a few NBA games, but never hockey, soccer, or heck .. football.
