well, if you can find a way up here, you would be a great addition to the group.
i will talk to rivals again and see if they don't mind us trying to start up again.
im hoping this league will be more efficient in gaining members.

So, wait.. what was the overall idea behind this league?

And are we talking the card game, or DS games?

I'm all for the DS games, and while I'm pretty awesome at breeding.. I'm not exactly the most strategic battler.

we were thinking both card and handheld gaming
I myself am not very good with cards but i like to battle with the most random teams i can come up with
but yeah right now is not the ideal time for a league but i do have an idea
why not start a kumoricon league??? idk how it would work right now but i am sure jt and i can come up with something

this is kind of a cool idea, but here is the problem.

If there is not a large enough community in oregon, i doubt there will be a large enough community within kumoricon.

Although, if there were enough players here, i could definitely see it working.

We would just need 13 people who are semi decent at pokes, and willing to be in the game room for about 2 or 3 hours a day. We could then schedule times for each gym leader/elite 4 trainer to be in the game room.

Oh. you mean via wifi/netbattle/shoddybattle

its worth a try, but i prefer IRL battling, as you may already know.

If we did that, we could easily do Pokemon League Meetups though, which would be cool IMO.

ok, so if you guys want to do it all online, we will give it a try.

So sign ups for gyms will start now.

I will update the OP with spots, and who has signed up for them, as well as what types they choose.

EDIT: also, i am signing up for final elite 4 trainer, and anyone is welcome to challenge me for my position.

Of course me! ^o^- Water Pokemon, either gym leader of elite four, I don't mind which.

I enjoy doubles and singles.. so depends on what I come up with I guess (haha).

if you don't mind, you should probably be our first gym leader.

mostly because we need one.

You need a secondary type.

i want you in the e4, because i know you have experience

EDIT: You guys should also probably tell me if you are taking challenges or not.
for now i will put that you are not.

that shouldn't be a problem griff.

Get your team together, and let me know when you are ready to take challenges.

by the way, now you are a guard to the entire league, rather than to just the E4, so you have a lot more responsibility.

Water Pokemon

i edited the OP so that single type teams are ok. i realized that its a bit dumb to not allow that

EDIT: Also, can you guys fill out the app i just made?
Just to make things easier for me.

hydro electricity ftw.

actually, for some reason i knew you would do that.

RD teams are cool, but predictable. as soon as they see the electrode, they will know your whole team. use  it late game for great success.

ludicolo, lanturn, swampert, qwilfish, kingdra, and starmie would all make fine leads for a team like that.

good sweepers are obvious, specstrode, kingdra, ludicolo, basic swift swimmers and such, manectric, zapdos, mixed electivire, jolteon, gyarados

defensively, you have swampert, lanturn, vaporeon, suicune, zapdos, quagsire, gastrodon

tanks can be many oof the above listed, as water and electric types are both often bulky, and good attackers. try to make use of bibarel, as it is still a solid threat, and amazing tank.

this is a well thought out type combination.

watch out for mixapes, flygons, salamences, and mixed electivires, as they can wreck a team like this, and are all still solid threats in the metagame

well, we are looking at a really good sniper abuser when looking at drapion.

EV's should be obvious
4hp/252atk/252spe

Adamant nature if you are going to run agility on the set, but otherwise you are more than likely going to want Jolly.

Night Slash vs. Crunch is a hard option, as crunch has more power, but night slash has a higher crit ratio.

I would say if you choose night slash, use life orb, if you use crunch, use leftovers.

your next move would be your secondary stab, which is obviously cross poison. High crit ratio, and 10% chance to poison, is nothing to mess with.

Next move would be looking for more crit abuse, or power. Unfortunately, Drapions only other High crit move is Slash, so i would be looking for power/coverage.

Also, if you want at least one stronger stab, i would suggest not using poison jab, because its coverage isn't as good as crunch.

So this is what your final set looks like.

Drapion @life orb/leftovers
4hp/252atk/252spe
Ability: Sniper
Jolly nature
Crunch/Night Slash
Poison Jab/Cross Poison
Earthquake/Focus Energy/Taunt/whirlwind/Agility
Rock Slide/Swords Dance/toxic spikes/substitute

Drapions movepool is everlasting. It has just the right moves to do exactly what it was meant to do.
Unfortunately, its stats aren't made quite as well. If you can get a speed boost, it will make drapion a real pain to stop.
I wouldn't suggest running swords dance and agility at the same time, as it lowers your type coverage.
Whirlwind and Toxic Spikes can be funny, especially if your lead has SR, or you have already set it up with a late game rocker, but watch out for steel types, flying types, and levitaters, as they are all unaffected by T-spikes (5 out of 6 of my team). Make sure you have stealth rocks, and make sure you have counters to steel types. Skarmory is going to give you a lot of trouble, if you aren't running the swords dancer, and scizor, registeel, steelix, foretress, and many other steel types will wreck drapion, no matter what set it is using.

Okay ^^

I like the idea of doing
Night Slash
Cross Poison
Earthquake
Focus Energy

I kinda wanted a baton passer, but I can only think of Umbreon who would fit ><

Current team:
Drapion
Weavile
Tyranitar
Roserade
Umbreon
Gengar

I look like Griff's team lol

but I loves Drapion ><

Also, I'm working on my standard team as well, so I could use some help ^^
Currently have:
Forretress (SR and Spikes lol)
Drapion (Phys Sweep)
Blaziken (Great mix sweep)
Snorlax (Curse!)
Salamence (Probably set up as the special sweeper)
Vaporeon (Baton Passer)

The team offers a LOT of good resistances and confers few weak points, any suggestions on how to improve would be great as well ^^

If you can find it, post your team in the RMT thread, with natures, EV's, items, and moves.

As for your league team, you might want to make a few changes.

you have a big ground/fighting/bug/psychic weakness. and poison/dark does support itself, but you still can't really do much against things like scizor, which come in on your team and OHKO pretty much everything from it after a swords dance.

You don't need a baton passer, but umbreon makes a pretty good wall. I would personally try out Tentacruel for special defense, as it is an amazing tank.

I think honchkrow could really help this team. You need a good flying type, and a good priority attacker, and honchkrow takes both of those roles well. Cacturne is also a great choice for a priority attacker.

Shiftry seems somewhat useless, but if you know how to use it, it can rape. Explosion is really what makes him what he is, so you should give him a try (assuming you aren't going to use cacturne.)

At the moment, you are lacking a good lead.

I noticed that you and griff both don't seem to understand the concept of a lead.

In competitive play, there are 4 things leads do.

1. Attempt to incapacitate 1 or more pokemon on your opponents team, whether it be by sleep, parafusion, or other methods.

2. Set ups. Set up stealth rock, spikes, or toxic spikes, and often times explode, or try to take out the opponents lead in any way possible.

3. Baton pass. Some great teams are based off of this move. Common baton pass leads will boost there stats, and pass them to something that can use them well. For example, ninjask with his speed boost ability, and swords dance.

4. Anti-lead. Basically a lead that tries to keep your opponent from seetting up, and kill its lead, even if it has to take its own life to do so.

There are many great leads you could be taking advantage of. Crobat, Tyranitar, Gengar, Muk, Ariados, Nidoking, Nidoqueen, Tentacruel, Roserade, and the list goes on. Try making your lead be a contributor, instead of just a sweeper.

I know it seems lame, but Toxicroak could really help this team as well. You have no fighting support other than weavile, who doesn't even get the stab from it, and gengar, who is a special attacker, and doesn't often run his only 2 fighting moves. Now, a base 106 atk, paired with a base 85 speed isn't exactly ideal, but with a choice scarf, he can really get the job done. Not to mention, he heals from water attacks, which can be REALLY useful if you predict well, and his everlasting movepool, which can be really really fun to toy with.

another nifty physical attacker that you could make use of is Sharpedo. He doesn't have the best movepool, but he boasts a base 120 attack, and a 95 spe, which would make him a perfect choice scarf user. You lack water support, which could be good on this team, so sharpedo is a great choice. The only downside in comparison to toxicroak is that he doesn't heal from water attacks.

And last but not least, the pokemon i have been waiting to talk about

SPIRITOMB.
One of the greatest things that Diamond and Pearl has given us. Instead of making the pathetic Sableye better, or giving it an evolution, they gave us an upgraded version, that is ridiculously hard to obtain without pokesav!

Spiritomb is a godsend. It is the little ghost that could.
Here is what makes spiritomb so great.
First of all, the fact that he has no weaknesses, and is immune to common fighting attacks can make him good on literally any team. He is really hard to counter, and has an AWESOME set of stats.

Here is what i would suggest, based off of your team.

@leftovers
252hp/252def/4spatk
Impish Nature
Calm mind
Dark pulse
Hidden Power Fighting/Shadow Ball
Rest

This set is literally a mock suicune, but with no weaknesses, and perfect coverage. This set tears through so much, and can be extremely hard to counter. The idea is that you bring it in on a physical attacker, who is not going to be able to do more than half damage to it (physical infernape for example), and start setting up, after a few calm minds, if your health starts to get low, rest. Then when you wake up, repeat the process. Once you have 6 calm minds, start tearing through there team, and healing off any damage you take.

Here is one more set that could be useful:

@leftovers
252hp/8atk/124def/124spd/
Adamant nature
Will-O-Wisp
Pain Split
Shadow Sneak
Pursuit

The idea behind this is that it is basically a mock dusknoir, but with now weaknesses, and the ability to use pursuit.
Pursuit is AWESOME, because you can bring your tomb in on a latias, alakazam, rotom, gengar, or dusknoir, and hurt it badly.

I don't know if you know this, but if they try to switch out, pursuit deals double damage to them. Upon seeing a spiritomb switch in, most will attempt to do so, and not even think about it having pursuit.

Anyway, your team definitely needs work, but i think with a little help, it could be pretty great.

EDIT:
OH YEAH. If you look at the numbers for focus energy, it really isn't worth it. Drapions counters come in fast, and hit hard. Personally, i wouldn't rely so much on crits, and worry about getting his mediocre stats boosted up to par with something like SD, or Agility.
I would also use Crunch instead of night slash, but that is just me.

Personally would like to shy away from Spiritomb, but he does fit well.

So changed and currently have it going as:

Honchkrow, Insomnia, Naive, holding Focus Sash
224atk/40spa/244spe
Pursuit
Sucker Punch
Heat Wave
Superpower

Drapion, Sniper, Jolly,  holding Scope Lens
252atk/4spd/252spe
Swords Dance
Cross Poison
Night Slash
Ice Fang/Earthquake (Both seem to be good choices)

Spiritomb, Pressure, Careful, holding Leftovers
252hp/124def/132spd/
Adamant nature
Will-O-Wisp
Pain Split
Shadow Sneak
Pursuit

Weavile, Pressure, Jolly, holding Expert Belt
40hp/252atk/216spe
Swords Dance
Ice Punch
Night Slash
Brick Break

Gliscor, Hyper Cutter, Impish, holding Leftovers
252atk/4def/252speed
Roost
Earthquake
Stone Edge
Fire Fang

And the last slot is up in the air. Kinda want a grass/poison to give me a pretty good resistance spread, but a Curse Muk would tank really well. Tentacruel would work in here for tanking too, but IDK what kind of moveset on him @_@
