Pokemon Cosplay Meetup(november 14th)(EVERYONE WELCOME)

So i think we should have our first meetup next month. November seems like a good time amirite?

So does anyone know of any good places we can meetup without getting rained on?

I know a really spiffy parking garage that would be a good place for a photoshoot, but that might be a bit wierd.

Well here is the deal.
after having conflict with security guards at both malls in the past, i would much prefer lloyd center in terms of strictness, and meetup-ability.
even if we just meet up there, and then go somewhere else.

but pioneer place could work too, i would just have to talk to mall security beforehand.

There's a good chance I will have nothing done at that point, but the Lloyd Center is cool with me.

Maybe we shouldn't worry about costumes this time, since it will probably be too rainy for a good photoshoot and few people have anything. We could bring them though, to show off, or get tips and comments on or whatever. I just think that would work better this time, so early in the year. (New year meaning after K-con, since that's obviously all that matters.xD)

my friends who aren't into pokemon, or are just nice, often give me there old pokemon toys and such because im somewhat of a fanatic.

Well, I feel like the reason I got ignored at the picnic was because no one had heard of her, like that somehow made *me* inferior or something. Bear in mind there was someone there who had no idea who Cyrus is, despite him being a primary villian.

*Warning* Lloyd Center does not allow cosplayers.... they have been have a lot of trouble (stabbings and shottings) and if you meet up in a big group you will need a permit/ permission...  Also if you come in even a small group no mask, weapons, a ton of make-up. It is a lot of hassle! I suggest Clackmas they are super nice about things just call a head and warn them... Thank you!

i think its like 1.50 for youth, 3.00 for adults, or something along those lines.

I'm guessing not.
You have to think about the crowd you are preaching to though, as we are cosplayers.
Cosplay takes up a good amount of cash, not to mention paying for cons, hotels etc.

About what we are going to be doing, i don't see what is to decide.

Honestly, i think since i plan on having a bit more meetups than the last group, (not saying last years was bad, as it was AWESOME) i think that we can figure it out as we go.

Right now, im looking at planning a meetup every 2 months until the weather gets nicer, and then every month when it does.

I wanted to go but my body decided to sleep after a long day of fighting at the Amtgard party earlier. So I ducked out at a club in Tigard as Super Monster Mario (black hat with Monster M logo and black shirt with overalls), but no one caught on so I didn't win the $100 prize.T^T Next time I'll break out my mi8ghty cosplay and wear a giant cardboard ID sign with the character picture on the front.

And yes, I'm thinking the only parts I need are:

The point of a meetup is to meet up. not to have any specific plans.
When meeting up, i would hope people would take the time to get to know eachother, and talk to one another, but im guessing you wouldn't understand that. I have tried to reason with her, but i don't want somebody who is going to have an attitude towards me for no reason to show up.
I have no idea what happened at the last meetup, but i wasn't involved in it at all, and for somebody to go and have an attitude with me, when im trying to plan this for everyone else, is a bit uncalled for. I am taking time out of my day to put this together, and the last thing i want is grief. I told her that if she wants something else to do, she can suggest something, but some people don't know how to participate, and they expect everything to be done by one person.

It's okay, i understand where she is coming from, but if she wants something to be done, she can't expect everyone else to do it. I'm only one person, and if people want to help, i am more than welcome to let them help, but if they are just going to stand there and cause drama, they don't need to be a part of the group.

I'm sorry if that sounded disrespectful, but from here on, if somebody wants to do something else at the meetups as a group, they can make suggestions and everyone can talk about it. I was not at the meetup, nor have i cosplayed as a pokemon before, (before being before the halloween party) so i can assure you, i was not a part of this. But as i said before, you can't complain about the way it is if you won't help with it, or suggest something to do. If there is something you would like to do, you are more than welcome to suggest something.

Also, one thing that might help you is if you sign up as a trainer in the gijinka battles thread. I'm sure that would help your recognition at least a little bit.

You all need to understand that i may have started the thread, but if it weren't for you guys, this wouldn't be happening at all. I recognize that, and that is why i say we should decide things as a group. We can vote on things like that.

As for a tournament/trade event, that is cool for the people who actually play pokemon games et, but not as appealing for the people who are only there for cosplay reasons. I would actually like that idea. Maybe we can have a cosplay contest as well, so that the cosplayers can have fun too. This does seem more like something that we would do when the weather is nicer, but if anyone can come up with a place we can go, than i am all ears.

As for me, my vote is yes if we find a place.

If the gijinka battles thread picks up a bit more (link in first post under: Related Content), we could start practicing for those.

First, I collect the cards as weapons in my deck in a desperate effort to keep up with the mob of tournament players with more cards, money, and commitment to the game. So I'll be willing to test my Poke-muscles in a tournament if one is held. And I'll bring along what little tournament playable trade bait I have.

Second, Blackjack, I share a similar pain that you did. Even though they happened before K-con, often times at a meetup I felt like a ghost. I'd be seen but not heard. I would continue to follow along with the group anyway, "haunting" it with my presence that I felt had been shrugged off, intentionally or not. No one complimented, no one complained, and I was afraid to ask how they felt. I felt like I tried my hardest, busted my butt to pull together a character with my small budget, and my only success was making the group bigger. I was with the group, but couldn't find a way to be in the group.

But that was then...this is now. It seems like once K-con is over with, everything starts over clean and fresh. The few meets that I've gone to so far, I've gotten some praise. I have new ideas for awesome cosplay in mind, I just need to find the pieces and pull them together. Meanwhile it's tormenting having to fall back on old hats that everyone's seen before. I might even barely find the pieces to pull together Hitmonchan. It'll be off color, so it would be a first attempt cosplay. Otherwise I'll just guest star as Mario at this meet. (sorry for having an uber-long post everyone)

Some people don't like to get involved, be around people, be themselves, whatever. those people can stay at home and sob, while i go out and have a blast.

That poke'mon is now on that trainers team
Poke'Mon can hold "wild" poke'mon still, so their trainer can catch them
Every Poke'mon after 6 that a trainer gets goes to the sidelines, and can be swapped out with current pokemon the trainer is using
After they're all caught, whoever caught the most poke'mon wins!

The only reasons why I chose a small day at amtgard instead of this, were because I would have been late, my cosplay would have looked rushed, and I had no one's cell to call and ask where the group was at when I got there. I never got to check here before I headed out. Oh well, next time.
