Ok, lets try it one more time.

2010 metal gear solid! I haven't seen any mgs group cosplays, and I think it's about time we did some thing about it. I would like a bigger group, so if your interested pez let me know! Also let me know which game your from, if your character is in more then one of the mgs. ^.^

I think that if we get a big enough group we should consider a skit. We have enough witty people in here already! I have stage fright but pre-recordings make acting so much easier, haha.

LOL. I love all the ideas that are already coming out. This group is going to be the best! XD I like the idea for a skit if people are interested, and my bro-in-law has recording equipment. We should wait awhile before we decide, and to see if more people are interested. But not too long. Just let me know if anyone's interested in a skit. we can powwow on the forums, or meet to discus ideas. just a few things to keep in mind.

Sadly, I think we would get in trouble at the Hilton if we played that box game in public space. :/
I could be wrong though. Maybe we can find some place out of the way -or- find ways of being creative.
But moving on, @Hisuji - I tried to see if Josh wanted to join and he hasn't answered me every single time, so I'm assuming that he won't dress up (although I wish he'd just say no, so that I wouldn't have to assume). We need to find a Snake. I'm pretty sure that's an important character in MGS XD

Heh, yes, it is very early. I am not continueing my work on Otacon until next year.

As far as knowing others who would cosplay from MGS... I'm not too sure. But I'll ask around. Posting on other sites that have activity year round would be a good idea. Coscom for example has a large MGS thread that is constantly active. The trouble there would be finding K-Con attendees. =/

I'm getting a lot of sewing practice in though because I want my outfit to turn out well without asking for ANY advice this year.

I agree with mattstotts46, a list on the front page would be very helpful and present a more organized group. =) And oh my gosh, I love that scene, haha, it's hilarious!

makichan - Wow, that'll be a task... The only gun I ever made was Irvine Kinneas's shotgun and that thing was like, chunky and totally not based in reality. I'll search around for something that could be used as a base for that though. Tricky thing about guns and cons though - too realistic and you're gonna get mobbed by authorities. x_X

Make the base out of wood then as rubber or some kind of moldable plastic to make the edge of the shoulder butt, the handle, etc. Use very short nails or screws to put in the place of the screws on the gun, possibly get an actual scope to attach to the top, maybe use hard lastic tubing for the muzzle, and learn how to paint it very well; study pictures of it.

A good idea would be to cut out the guns outline in wood, then either add on the rest of the pieces on top or carve into the gun-shaped wood to get the lines and design, then adding the things like screws, scope, muzzle, rubber, etc.

You could probably find some good tutorials online~ That's what I did for my Yuna Wings and when looking up how to make Leon's Chicago Typewriter.

Granted, the only character I'd want to be, would be Snake, but I don't think a girl running around with facial hair, would be a very convincing Snake...o.o;;

Hey - never say never! There was this cosplayer from Team Fortress 2, I think the character is called a Sniper, and we all totally KNEW it was a dude - facial hair and all - then BAM, female voice. Coolest thing ever. I give insane props to that cosplayer and wish I had gotten better pictures. XD

So, this video is a little slow paced but just the sheer number of MGS cosplayers is awesome... And the time paradox is amusing - Naked Snake, Solid Snake, and old Snake all in one setting? Not to mention all the others they have!!! And the fact they had the balls to do this in a MALL! I dunno about where they're from but pull out that many guns (fake or not) in a mall here and you'd be getting the red exclamations from security before you could find your cardboard box! Okay, okay, I'll stop rambling and give the vid. XD

When I was sick with the con cold (and wanting to practice my Sniper Wolf accent), I had a really raspy voice and I'd lay in bed saying, "I am lung-shot. You cannot save me." After which, My boyfriend would turn to me and tell me to knock it off. XD
And then I'd continue by saying something like, "I was born on the battlefield..."
It was hilarious.

I know a whole family who take place in theater related things, so it shouldn't be too hard for me to come up with something for the facial hair.
But it's still currently up in the air, until I find out if I'll have the funds to complete a Snake cosplay.
