Live-Action Final Fantasy Scenes!(NEED PEOPLE!)
« on: August 24, 2009, 01:48:09 am »
This is an idea I've been tossing around in my head for a while now. Mostly for the fact that I really, really, really want to reenact I Want to Be You're Canary, the ending of FFIX, and Kuja going coo-coo on Terra <3. So I was thinking that if we got people together and found places/got people to edit the hell out of the footage and stuff... then why not reenact our favorite FF scenes with real people? Some of the ones I'd love to do beside the aforementioned is the 'wedding' in FFIX, Aerith's Death scene, meeting Yuffie, and others like that. So what does everyone think? They don;t have to be complete cut-out exact copies of the games, because how the hell are we gonna find a castle?! xD Mostly focusing on mood and characters and editing, of course. ^^;;

I'll post up character lists as people apply for them, as well as crew and forms and what not. ^^
Also, there's plenty of time for this, so there is no rush! I'll be doing a few of them myself... because I love FF and I'm selfish. ^^

Character Application

Forum Name:
E-mail:

Experience: (Not required; I just wanna know if you've done any acting before)
Will you double as crew? (Not required, but it would be nice if there was help with finding places, setting things up, etc.)

Crew Application
Name:
Forum Name:
E-mail
Position:
Experience: (Not required, but it would ben ice if you could givel inks to things like AMVs or something you've helped with in the past)
Programs used: (For editors; what programs do you use?)

I was thinking about doing this after con, of course, with plenty of time to get ready and talk about it. Decide scenes and what not. I can do scripting because I'm also doing the Final Fantasy Project, dubbing FFI-IX so I've already got full or near full scripts of FF's VII, VIII, and IX including battle lines. So I can do scripting and help with props and costuming and whatnot. ^^

I love the idea. I think it'd be really fun. Granted, I couldn't be in many scenes, but it would still be fun to participate and help out.

Though by now the people in Portland are probably used to it. xD

I think it would be really fun to do the scene when Cloud jumps into the train at the beginning of the game. Not when he jumps ONTO it; when he flips inside and stuff. It would be fun to do a live action of him and Barret and their little 'polluted air' and 'city on a plate' stuff.

Zidane and Garnet during the night in the Black Mage Village too~

Oh! And the death of Zack, definately~ FFVII version, not Crisis Core. oO Doubt we could get that many people together xD

Maybe some of the scene on the Ragnarok between Squall and Rinoa... minus the floating unless someone is REALLY good with editing. ^^;;

@Eve: Oh once I do Epi.3 post rebuild KOS-MOS, full functional with weapons, there'll be a lot of shock value. >: D Jenova too~

Goodness, I suck at acting, but i will TOTALLY be willing to edit clips into neat scenes (I use Final Cut Pro)
I can't really get anywhere after the con, as school starts two days after DX, but I could edit from home if you send me the clips and a link to the original cutscene so i know what you're trying for.

I know you will, Nikki ^^. Give me a minute and I'll put up a sign up form for cast a crew. And Sora, editing would be so helpful, especially with Final Cut Pro... because I've got VirtualDub, Avisynth, WMM... and... that's it. xD Adobe works too slow, so I don't use it.

Awesome. I do understand your editing plight: WMM can only go so far. I will also be adding Sony Vegas to my list of programs i can use for editing soon X3 Hopefully we can meet up at the con.

Because I'm not sure whether or not I will be on here after the con, here's some other ways to get ahold of me:

The ragnarok scene and the one where rinoa's posessed (both from ffviii, i can deal with the editing problems)
BOTH I Want To Be Your Canarys XD
maybe the first one could have the other stuff surrounding it (Chases, I will kidnap you...)
and the last one to go until the very end XD

o.o You'd be able to edit the Rinoa possession aka Squall gets owned by a woman scene?! :O I didn't think we'd be able to do that one; it makes me want to be Rinoa, but I don't have a Rinoa cosplay yet! *will have one soon, though*

EDIT

I updated the first post with a scene suggestions list along with the number of people who want to do that scene. ^^

That'll be easy; especially for some scenes like the FFVII train scene and FFVIII Rinoa Possession. For the outside in some scenes we can use a green screen(why's it called that? It can really be any color ><) on windows and stuff. I'll make sure we do that! The easier and prettier it is to do, the better!

Another thing I'm worried about is finding places. xD For Rinoa possession, we can only do it up the point that Rinoa leaves the station; after that it'll be a bitch to handle >.<

One scene is an absolute must if we can figure out how to do it; Aerith's Death scene. Now THAT would be a feat to pull off. xD

A green screen is usually that blue or green color because those are colors that don't show up on people's clothes or hair.
DO NOT USE WHITE. I think, for the characters in that scene, yellow would be a good choice.

What I'm asking you to do is shoot Rinoa in front of a green screen, and then shoot the rest of the scene (SAME CAMERA ANGLES, PLEASE) in your location with maybe a tennis ball on a stick as a stand-in that I can easily hide. you can have the Rinoa there offscreen saying the lines so we can get the timing right- and your green-screen behind the windows idea? Brilliant. It would be a snap to add spacey scenes outside the windows like that.

I'm thinking, for the best sound quality, as we are combining clips, we should add voice-over for the speaking. if you all use the same mike, editing the audio would be a snap.
Do you think rinoa's voice should have effects added to it for extra possesed-ness?

I thik aerith's death should wait until we're really good at it.

Hmm... for that particular scene, I was thinking having Rinoa saw lines she's said inthe game up to that point but in a, overlapping, echoed, ghostly manner with a bit of Ultimecia overshadowing her.

Yeah.
If we can get a separate VA for ultimecia to add that bit- it would be epicness.
I have all the effects neccesary for that scene.

They don;t have to be complete cut-out exact copies of the games, because how the hell are we gonna find a castle?!

Actually there are quite a few old churches in the portland area that, if filmed the right way, could look like a castle. Just a thought.

But here are a few examples:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/73/St_James_Lutheran_Church_-_Portland_Oregon.jpg
http://www.mormonwiki.com/wiki/images/0/0f/Portland_oregon_mormon_temple.jpg
http://blog.craigmitchelldyer.com/0114.jpg
http://www.oldchurch.org/

Other neat places:
http://www.ghostparti.com/witchs%20castle.jpg
http://farm1.static.flickr.com/11/91150536_db2a6cf668.jpg?v=0
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3072/2481451070_ffb70fa6c0.jpg?v=0

Theres lots of really neat places around town and in the tri-city area. These are just a few of my favorites. Also theres a neat castle like church right off of woodstock and 72nd that I couldnt find a picture of. Some of the churches around town are great  about people taking pictures. I would check with them obviously to make sure that there wasnt a wedding or a sevice the day and time you wanted to be there. But if you asked, they may let you go inside and take pictures. It would be neat for the wedding scene.  Again this is just a thought.

I dont have a  good video camera, but I would love to tag along on a few of these and take camera shots. I have a Canon 50D and a few editing softwares as well, but again these are only for digital pictures/film and not video. But the idea sounds great!

Would you want a Red Mage cosplayer, or more of 'developed' characters?

Well, we're reinacting scenes from the game and I'm no specialist on the really early final fantasy's... hell, honestly we'll probably be focusing on the more developed characters and scenes/what not mostly from games six onward probably; at least in the beginning until I figure out what the hell I'm doing and if we can get enough people from the other ones together.

... seeing the word 'developed' made me laugh because I thought of the 'Ooh, soft!' scene from FFIX

That's actually an easy one. For before getting on the airship, find a grassy field or park. For the actual ooh-soft! part, find a porch and deck it out like the back of the airship(doesn't have to be identical), and a ladder, and use a green-screen around part of it probably. Then the same for Garnet's reaction and leaving. xD
