Praise to the Registration staff
« on: August 04, 2009, 09:59:22 pm »
I'm hoping I'm allowed to put in some good comments in this here sub forum.
I just wanted to say thank you to the people who are working hard in Registration. I had an address problem with my badge. I got a reply to my worries very quickly, and and the lady in charge of it resolved my problem and sent my badge out to me.

So kudos to you guys, I know you're working hard to get everyone's stuff out and I'm grateful that you all are still helping everyone with their problems even though you're so busy.
WHY DO THE FORUMS SUCK SO BAD?

I had an issue with my badge too, and the staff was very nice and very quick to reply! They were very understanding.

I second that kudos :)

I'd like to thank not just reg staff but everyone working on Kumoricon. I know I can whine (scheduleee, etc) and I'm pretty amazed at how everyone answering wails and questions can keep their cool.

Mad props to y'all.

Thank you, staff! I was having trouble with my badge not arriving, and the registration staff were really nice and helpful.

Adding my appreciation for the check-in staff. Last year went pretty smoothly (for the all of one day I attended), but this year was a breeze! And so friendly. Definitely started us out on the right foot. <3

I totally agree! I was SO overjoyed by the efficiency of the registration staff. A few people were ancy and grumpy (at 6:00am? What, do you have some urgent panel you need to be at??) But for the most part we were all super excited! It was easy to manuever the snake formation (if that totally awesome chikadee who was controlling the front of the line is on the forum, I'm that girl who was 2nd in line for at-door reg!) and the maid that was there bright and early to carry forms and pens was uber sweet and perfect in character for her job! They may have been underappreciated in those early hours but the job they did was exquisite!

As soon as I was done with my reg form and got up to the Registration desk I handed the lady my form, my $50 and my I.D. 2 seconds later I was handed a sharpie and badge to write my name on. When I was done she put the badge in the holder and gave me my $5 change and said "You are all done!"

It was just THAT easy! Thank you from badge 1001!

As a member of reg staff I want to thank you guys for your kind words and for being patient with us when our patience was completely gone.

As far as the everyone comes to us for everything, it does kind of make sense. One small table with 1-2 staff doesn't look too organized as an info desk. 8-12 people, 15 feet worth of tables, most of us wearing staff shirts, by midafternoon not having much of a line, I'd come to us to.

For the first day, and the first part of Sunday, our canned answer was "We don't know, ask info" After the 200th frustrated person walked off, we scattered all available hands around the hotels, and came back with details so we knew where stuff was. I honestly did not know where the rounds room was until Sunday night when Brandon (the guy that proposed at closing ceremonies) told me where it was. Outside of the reg table, we seriously didn't see much. So thank you for putting up with our lack of info, we really did want to know what was going on better.

AllyKat: 6am? That was late for us, we were up HOURS before that. We also had several alpha personality people working reg. Some with exp, some without. All with different ideas on the best way to do things. Setup, teardown, and 5 hours of this on Friday frazzled everyone pretty hard. Then we needed to wake up before sunrise and resolve ourselves for another three days of it. I can't speak for everyone else, but I personally am sorry that we were grumpy that morning. There were circumstances, but we should not have let our frustration be obvious to you. Again, I am sorry for my behavior, because I am very certain that I was one of the grumpy ones.

Thank you all again for the good things that you said. We LOVED you guys. You brought us stuff just because you were awesome. Candy, snacks, extra gashapon that you got duplicate of, a case of water bottles, a flat of Rockstar (I love you Costco girl!), you led other people to us when they couldn't find us. I saw someone who (I am serious) didn't want his change, so instead of getting his $15 (Three $20s, $45 for the weekend) He told me to give the next 5 people that came through a lanyard ($3 each).

All of you are awesome, much love from reg to you.

I am also a member of Reg Staff and would like to say thank you for your praise and kind words.  You guys were so sweet, kind, and patience with us.  Thank you so much!  We had some hiccups but you all took it in stride.  Thank you.  All the attendees are and were awesome.  You brought us food, water and most importantly a smile.  I'm sorry about not having a good grasp of where everything was in the hotel.  As was previously said we didn't leave that table much.  We left to use the restroom, run to some sort of food and to sleep.  After sitting through the rant and rave last night it is very nice to hear that someone appreciates the work that we all put into this.  All of us, not just the Reg Staff but all Staff are volunteers.  Not only this but like you we pay to be there.  We put in a lot of time, energy, and both lack of food and sleep to try to make so you guys can have a good time.  There's a lot of negative energy floating around right now, but thank for taking a minute to show appreciation.  It means a lot.  Thank you.

Oh! No! Thats not what i meant! Sorry no! YOU GUYS WERE GREAT! Everyone was super duper nice at the tables... i was refering to the ancy grumpy people in line at 6am waiting to get registered... granted we were all wet from standing out in the rain....

but no! Sorry to make you think that you were grumpy! LOL! Everyone at the tables was smiles when I was there, and I was second in line so I was expecting confusion and disorganized mayhem as things were getting settled into working order! I was pleseantly surprised!

I LOVE YOU!  You have no idea, so so much love!

Yes I was miffed at my 2 hours in line on Friday, but hey, I played epic line Uno and I got everything done before hand so that there was smooth sailing for Saturday morning!
I was through the lines fast enough to go stuff bags on Friday night and take over bag stuffing operations with a few other handy volunteering attendees while staff went and ran to do other things... or nap on the floor behind us.

Besides I was miffed do to a certain Yojimbo who was a bit rude and didn't have his act together... not your guys' fault!

@kylite  No need to beat yourself or him over the head... we were all stressed and he seemed to have it together by the end of the con.  Friday was just a bit weird with lines, if he were a real issue I woulda tracked you down and had it set right.

I've also got mad love for you Yojimbo!  You guys did good by me!

I just want to say a big thanks to the whole reg team. At the end of the day even with all of the hick ups we had along with the headbutting the team still managed to get the job done.
