When you find out someone (particularly someone you don't know) is cosplaying the same character as you on the same day as you, what do you generally think?

I will admit that I was very very happy at Sakuracon when there were four Albels and I thought I had the best costume

I try to make my costume to stand out not fit in with the other people cosplay the same one.

It doesn't bother me when I find something like that out. There have only been a couple instances where that has happened, and I have always been very confident in my own cosplays, so I don't ever worry about someone "showing me up".

And if I do see someone cosplaying my character better than me, it just encourages me to make mine better in the future. Competition is good!

I pick cosplays that for what reason or another tend to be well known and I know I will not be the only one (kairi) I dont really have a problem with cosplaying the same character that some one else is. It does ocasionly spark me to want to make mine better however.

Doesn't really matter with me, but it was fun trying to spot another me err cosplay character.....! ^_^ I'm @ K-con for fun! I have plenty of things to bother with outside of K-con.

If you ever do anything bad..then you can just say it was your twin, lol. (don't do anything serious, now!) XD

I tend to choose characters not very often cosplayed so I tend to never have that happen. :/

But it would irk me a little if they were better. I'd be so envious. >_<

Well if it's someone I don't know I wouldn't care much
Maybe take our picture together or something
but if it's my friend I'll probably drop it because I don't like cosplaying the same characters as my friends.

I'd want to find them because my characters tend to not get a lot of cosplay love (I've NEVER seen another Kaede or JP, even online, and only a smattering of Quinas).

I usually am happy and take a picture with them, except they are ALWAYS better than me, so it lowers my esteem a bit.

i always seem to have some accesorie that make the cosplays i make better,
with cooking mama i had a plushy leek that i made for spining that peeps loved and when i made my younger brother maes hues it wasnt the best costume but i bought him an angel halo that lit up people were like oh i get it hes maes hughs ...i'm sad now

I usually love it. Whenever I see a Kagome I go, "Look! Look! 8D" I run over and give them a hug and we trade tips on our costumes. :3

If I'm cosplaying a character in the first place, that means that I love that character enough to do so. So of course I want to see other cosplayers of the same character! X3 I kind of think that they would have a better cosplay than me, though. ;_;

I'm doing it for fun primarily. :3

Personally, I try to cosplay as someone or something people typically don't cosplay as. AKA cosplaying as characters that are not THAT popular, or at least people will recognize. See, you don't always want to cosplay as a popular character (*cough*Naruto*cough*), because you are practically BEGGING for like 20 other people to be cosplaying as the exact same character. But if you do decide to cosplay as a popular character, you can do what I did: same outfit, different color scheme. Works well if you're cosplaying as a character from Super Smash Brothers.

I don't think I'm 'better' at cosplaying than anyone and I don't really like competing over being the best at a particular character so if anything I just lose the desire to cosplay the character if I know that it's often cosplayed.

Personally, I thinks it's great to see someone cosplaying the same character. It would mean someone else likes that character and anime/manga/game too, which makes me happy

I'm not in the cosplay contest; I enjoy watching. However, if I were in the competition, I would like to be one of the top cosplayers!

Honestly, even if it's bound to happen, I don't like seeing other people in the same cosplay that I'm in. I won't get mad at them or say anything about it, I just hope that mine looks better than theirs. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. I dunno why, it just drives me a little crazy! xD

I know that one. Trust me. I don't mind that since I just don't care much about that cosplay anymore. I'm only wearing it because I have it made from a previous convention and might not have the money to create a third new cosplay. Plus my friend wants me to wear it since she has another Death Note cosplay, so I figured I might as well. At least for a little bit. My interest in Death Note is over, so even if there's a million others it wouldn't bother me.

It doesn't bug me, I generally will wave to them though as one's eye tends to just go naturally to someone wearing the same thing

I usually tend to Cosplay the more popular characters, so of course I'm aware that there will be others Cosplaying the same character. But I've seen so many at past cons that I make sure I don't make the same mistakes I've seen at other conventions, and do the best I'm able to for my character. It doesn't bother me as much, since I'm already aware, but I definitely feel confident when I say hey to someone Cosplaying the same character.

Depends on their attitude towards me (if they see me as well).
If they come over and say "HEY! WUSSP!?" and highfive or something, its cool, funny, I can laugh with them (or if they just walk away without a word, thats ok too).
But if they kinda second glance at me, make faces at me, and start whispering to their friend, well my attitude turns very negative and then I got puppies to kick when I get home. I HATE to put it that way but I can be put in a very negative attitude very easily.
But knowing I cosplay popular characters, I expect it a bit, just hoping the others can be a good sport about it. I try to be.

I'm usually like "OMG [enter characters name here] FIVE!" and then I secretly appraise their cosplay to see if it's better or worse than mine. Then either cry or laugh on the inside depending on the outcome... But for the most part it's all about the high fives.

I don't cosplay much, so this is pretty hypothetical (I've cosplayed a couple times...once as Jin from Samurai Champloo, a couple times as a giant block of Tofu, and once as Che Guevara from the Cuban Revolution). I'm a big fan of complementary cosplays, ie Captain Falcon and Captain Fabulous. People cosplaying the same characters just generates redundancy and automatically causes me to judge them against each other. In my perfect world, every cosplay would be unique and thoughtful. That's why I just wear brightly colored dress clothes when I'm at cons (except when I'm playing DDR; then I wear shorts or a skirt and a lightweight cotton shirt)--it gives people something unique to recognize me by.

I'm usually okay with it but it does annoy me slightly and I end up comparing myself to them inwardly, but I keep it all to myself. I just try to think of it as them loveing the character as much as me so its a good thing..
