The money they get from these taxes won't even go to where they promised it would, small businesses are going to collapse or fire employees, and in a few years they'll be asking for higher taxes all over again.

Oregon's one of the most taxed states and also one with the highest percentage of jobless people, these taxes will do more harm than good.

When I used to skip my classes sometimes I'd go to the library and read the paper which is why I'm so interested in 66/67. Plus it'll be relevant to me when I move out on my own in a few years, so~

I don't want to live somewhere that's bleeping me over.

What a pissoff! In Douglas County only 35% of people voted yes, so at least we represent...

If I was 18 when all of this happened I would've rallied and talked about it. So many people who vote don't even know what the whole measure's about, they just rely on the commercials which are really just propaganda tools.

The for commercial is very persuasive if you don't know anything else about the measures ;o;

@ Osla I disagree, although, yeah, there is only a small amount going to the things that they promised it would go to.
I would have preffered if 66 had passed, but 67 had not, as it is the one that will tax even small businesses, costing them $150+ more per year. Although this increase isn't huge, it was unnecessary, especially for those who own 2 or 3 corporations, when 1+ isn't being used 100% of of the time.
But the people who pay a too small of an amount, although those individuals make more than or equal to$125,000 a year. They can spare a bit more cash than those families that make less -maybe very much less- can.

Thus, why if could vote I would have voted in favor of 66 but not 67

@ Soundy, These sorts of things are hard to choose sides over because someone'll be affected no matter what happens. I have to agree though, that if 66 was the only one to pass I wouldn't be as bent out of shape. 67 is essentially a hidden sales tax because if they raise the prices that small businesses have to pay then they have to raise the price customers have to pay which could mean that customers shop at more competitive stores (ala Walmart) and the small businesses cease to exist.

I just hate the thought of giving the government more money when it's obvious that they have no clue how to budget it out and spend it. They always solve their problems by spending money that they don't have, it's absurd.

Anywhos, I agree. Its something that anyone who was to vote should have investigated it a lot more than it seems anyone did.
The fact that they advertised them together made people think that it was a single measurement to be passed, although they were rather different.
