Any tea drinkers out there?
« on: June 30, 2010, 11:37:31 pm »
I've just recently started exploring the world of tea out there!  Nothing too crazy so far, though.  I made up a batch of unsweetened green tea the other day and it was okay.  Last week when I went to a local Asian restaurant I tried their Thai tea and it was amazing.

But I'm wondering, my following Kumoricon nerds and nerdlets: what kind of tea do you drink?  How do you prepare it?  What's your favorite?  Got any tips?  Favorite time of the day to drink tea (morning, evening, etc)?  Favorite place (bedroom, out with friends, etc)?

I just finished drinking some hot green tea with a little bit of honey while in bed reading my philosophy textbook. ^_^

Personally, I really enjoy a cup of chamomile tea.  Also, go to a Thai food restaurant; chances are they'll have something called Thai Iced Tea.  YUMMY!!!

My family drinks a WHOLE BUNCH OF TEA. ( Were Russian, of course lots of other people drink tea but when I go to someone else's house they dont have any. )

Right now we have Green Tea, Bed Time Tea, Herbal Country Peach, and Camomile flowers although one of my favorites is razzberry. Thai Iced tea is my favorite also.

There is this really awesome kick ass tea from Uganda thats just soooo awesome. I really want some right now. I forgot what it's called but it tastes amazing.

Putting in honey in Tea is great. Infact...I havent done this yet fully yet but my Paster said if you get REALLY COLD WATER and put NATURAL Bee honey in it then mix it and drink it will get rid of your pollenel alergies.

I did this with normal water and it relieved me for a while.

( hope that helps yo.)

Oops, that's what I meant in my original post.  That stuff is soooo good!  I had never tried it before and was kind of apprehensive.  But the waitress came up to my friends and apparently they order it all the time.  She asked me if I wanted some, and I initially said "no" but after everyone else at the table said they wanted it, I decided I'd give it a shot too.  I did not regret it! :D

Um, this might seem kind of strange, but have you ever tasted pipe tobacco?  Because the taste of the tea in my Thai iced tea reminded me of pipe tobacco a lot.  I pointed this out to my friend and he agreed.  It was a good taste, but it took me awhile to place it..

I personality enjoy Green Tea, both hot and cold, sweetened and unsweetened. I have it practically everyday and make my own cold lattes. :3
I also like cold Thai in the late afternoon and hot Vanilla Bean in the morning and evening. I don't drink them as often but when I do, I enjoy every sip. <3

I make sun tea. That's where you fill a transparent container with cold water, throw in a few tea bags of your choice, and let it sit in the sun for anywhere between one to four hours.

I grow chamomile,  but haven't tried it as a sun tea yet. But I grow about three or four types of mint, including catnip; which does not go in my tea, maybe i should use it in the cat's water; I grab a sprig of mint and throw it in with the tea but leave the mint soaking when I throw it in the refrigerator to chill.

One tea I do not recommend is Lapsong Soochong. It's smoked, and incredibly strong flavored. Smells like pipe tobacco. Woof.

I like tea Earl Grey, hot. Make it so ensign Crusher. English Breakfast Tea, Irish Breakfast tea, Constant Comment by Bigelow can be nice in the winter, when you need a little sunshine, green tea, green tea with jasmine, green tea with princess Jasmine would be nice too, lol,I'm even having good luck with cheap Western Family tea in the 100 count box my wife bought. She doesn't know tea.

I think there are a few nurseries in Oregon that have Camillia Sinensis, and I hope to put a couple in my yard. They won't be a pretty as Camillia Japonica, but as least I can drink the infusion of the leaves, and call it tea, as that is the name of the plant tea comes from.

If you can go check out the Spice and Tea Exchange downtown Portland. They have some nice blends. There was one with mango in it that tasted great, and would make a brilliant sun tea. Too bad it is too far for me to run up and get some.
Have Fun

I drink hot tea mostly when it's cold outside or when I'm sick. I prefer black teas with sugar and milk. Nutcracker Sweet is my favorite. <3

As for iced tea and sun tea, I drink it year round, and it's especially good in summertime. Tea is a good alternative for people who either can't have a lot of caffeine (like the amounts in coffee, anyways) or are trying to build up a tolerance to it.

The Tea I've really been enjoying is the Pear Luna/Sweet Amore from Teavana. It's a mix of White Tea and Rooibos Tea, it tastes excellent!

I also really enjoy Thai Iced Tea.

I usually drink Echinacea/Green tea combo with honey and milk. My town's local herbal shops have bunches of yummy teas as well!

tea... okay I love the concept  the idea of tea the ritual of it, making it, growing your own , the english and asian methods and traditions, tea cups the little cakes!  but I just do not like the taste:( i can handle green teas the sweeter the more i can't drink it. i blame my mom once when i was little and sick my mom made us drink this hot drink and it was like if you made Jello with out the cold water added at the end  nasty stuff. i do like some green tea occasionally prob cuz its not sweet .

I'm finding I enjoy complex tastes more.  I drink my coffee black.  I like the bitterness.  So I'm venturing out into the world of tea now. ^_^

MMmmmm tea. I used to live near the most amazing little tea place back in Wisconsin.

Personally, I tend to favor a black tea, hot, with generous amounts of honey and milk. Chai is really good too, if you haven't tried that. I highly recommend it.

I like to drink green tea or oolong tea in the morning, but raspberry tea when it gets later in the day since I already have enough sleeping trouble.
Bubble tea is something to look out for - I might be mixing it up with 5 Colors or another desert, but I believe that it has tapioca pearls in it, and perhaps coconut milk. Rich but delicious.

I drink all different kinds of tea...don't really have the time/patience right now to list them all but I will list a few of my favorites...Chai is excellent if you have yet to try it & there are several different chai blends out there that are good. I personally like the chai served at townshends teahouse. Green & Black teas are also really good & have tons of variety when it comes to flavors/blends.

I mostly drink hot teas in winter or early mornings before work. During the warmer monthes (honestly even more often than just the warmer monthes :P) I like to make what is often called an Arnold Palmer. This is a combination of 50% Iced Tea & 50% Lemonade. If you haven't tried it before, you really should...it's awsome. The fresher the lemonade, the better :D

I am a girl that enjoys her tea. Chamomile, green, peppermint, black, pretty much any fruit tea. It's all good. But what I really enjoy is a nice hot cup of loose leaf oolong tea. Man, that stuff is yummy. I tend to prefer honey rather than table sugar in my tea. Can't forget the deliciousness that is thai iced tea. I also enjoy my mourning cup-o-joe. Cream and sugar, please. Jeez, I don't think I went a day in high school without a cup of coffee. Also, few things are as refreshing as a cold glass of sweet sun tea in the summer. I find that it tastes more refreshing if you add a little less sugar.

I like to drink plain green tea and chinese tea but if i drink english tea then i prepare it by filling half the cup with sugar with one lemon.

I also like milk tea with bubbles (tapioca pearls). My favorite flavor is honeydew because i enjoy the color.

I really like Chai and Orange Spice. Peach is nice sometimes, too. My mom also has this Scottish Blend tea that's pretty nice.

Stay away from Double Spice Chai, though. It's nasty stuff.
