Seriously?  Look at EmAino's sig: Jupiter, #1.  You're going as Uranus, #3, and I'm going as Neptune, #4.  Saturn makes #2, and Earth makes #5.

I don't remember the exact details, because it was awhile ago that I heard this, but there was a time when a man could beat his wife as much as he wanted.  Some lawmakers decided to change that by having a restriction: men couldn't beat their wives with anything bigger than their thumb.

I kinda want to go to Mio Sushi in Salmon Creek for dinner tomorrow....for like the third time in a week. LOL.
I've seen a few of these pop up at a couple major Max stops (Beaverton Central and Hollywood TC) and I've been meaning to try it out.  Are they good?  Are they worth it?  Mio is the name of my beloved bass-playing waifu so anything that shares her name is automatically interesting to me.  I've just be low on cash lately and haven't had a chance to check it out. :P

BY THE GREAT SMELTER WHAT A MESSY DAY!!!! No sooner do I arrive at work then I find several police cars out and police tape around the Credit Union near my workplace. When I went into work I found out not only was the Credit union robbed there was a lso a bomb threat phoned in. So the store was evacuated as the police brought in the little remote conteolled drone that they use for dealing with bombs. Meanwhile for the whole of the noon hour I'm sitting on my rear doing absolutely nothing. Granted yes, I got paid for thast hour, but call me picky but I think of better ways to use that hour than just sitting around on my rear doing nothing. The "fun" ended at 1:04 in the afternoon when we were let back in by the police. But so help me that's the type of excitment I don't need.

Pff tis teh laugh. Workplace gets an explosive threat and you're the one ready to detonate. o.O

Speaking of work, it appears my time has come once again. My employer pulled a fast one on me today by giving me 4 hours to fix my car then visit an office I've never seen for drug screening that he's not authorized to do. At least he gave me the paperwork. I've already spent over $100 getting everything in order and it will be another $100 at the end of the week when I do maintenance. x_X'

The thing is though, this isn't what hurts. It's when the month rolls around that I'm going to be in pain. I can't afford to hold a double time job and deal with a malicious prosecutor at the same time. I need an understudy. >.<'

Well there's good news today. I figured out what the problem with the picture placing program on Wordpress.com is. :D it turns up that (In layman's terms) i had the silly thing in reverse. That is i had it so the pictures ascended instead of descended like I wanted. Now I've got it back to the way it was and in a short period of time I'll have my Sakuracon 2011 photos up. Sorry it took so long. i must leanr to keep a cool head. Angry NOT GOOD!!! Calm and collected GOOD!!!!

So, I have come to the conclusion that I can't let this Kumoricon pass me by without getting some serious photography done of my costumes (at least my Barret). I've been attending since 2006 and have yet to get any pictures I'm really proud of or that could stand up with others. So, *breaks into Michael Jackson singing voice* I'm gonna make a change! Anyone have photo-shoot/cosplay photography tips? I have some locations in mind for Kumoricon, but any pointers are appreciated. I want to get some really lovely shots.

Well it's always good if you're shooting outside to be away from the sun. The glare can be a killer on pictures. Secondly when shooting cosplayers around the con always say "please and thank you very much." Politness will get you everywhere with cosplayers. Make sure if you're shooting indoors to shoot in an aera with a reasonable amount of light. Make sure when you shoot a picture you have steady footing. Last but not l;east if your camera has auto focus wait for it to finish focusing THEN take the picture.

That's my tips for you my good fellow I hope they ghelp.

By the way this post is dedicated to the memory of Randy "The Macho man" Savage who passed away today. Whether as a heel or a face in pro-wrestling your contribution will never be forgotten.

No movie is worth a $14 ticket or staying up to midnight to watch the very first showing of it.  I've never done it, and I can guarantee that there is no movie that will ever be made that will make me change my mind.  Besides, the third one was terrible; I'll wait for it to come out on DVD, unless my GF wants to go see it while it's still in theatres.

People have different views of things, Wash. Just cause it's not a big deal to you doesn't mean it's not to them.
My friend Tommy is an amazing Jack Sparrow cosplayer and I bet you he would have paid hundreds to go to the premier with all the actors. Every person has their own opinions.

As for $14...where the hell do you go to see movies? :/
It cost us $9.50 a ticket and I had three free vouchers that covered $8.50 for each so it cost me $3 to take me, my bf, and my brother.

I could understand watching it with the actors, if they were actors I'd want to hang out with.  I'm not talking opinions, either.  I'm talking about logic.  If anybody misses the movie on opening day, it's not going to kill them, or harm them, or prevent their souls from entering Heaven, or anything.  They can just go and see it another day.  It's not a big deal.

As for the $14, Regal Cinemas.  My mom & one of my sisters went to see it on opening day.  This also included having the movie in 3-D, though.

Either way, I'm right because I'm using logic, not my "desires" as factors in my argument.

Chan & I still love you, Gryffin!

I'm not saying it's going to kill someone either... :/
I'm saying some people do have a greater desire and thus are more bummed out when they can't do whatever their desire is for.

Like me...I would never EVER miss opening night of the last Harry Potter movie. I don't care if I have to walk to the theatre (not that big of a deal since it's a mile away...) to see it. I won't die if I don't see it but that doesn't mean I won't say that if I'm told I can't go. It's because I love the franchise enough that I would feel so bummed out that it might as well be death to the part of my heart that wanted to go so badly. I'm not going to skip work or anything but doesn't mean I'll be a happy camper and won't curse the souls of whoever makes the schedule.

I guess all I'm saying is that I don't disagree with you but at the same time I do. She won't die from it but that doesn't mean she doesn't feel upset about not being able to go (and I don't see her saying she's going to die for not going). So I'd let her be upset.
I would be way worse if I missed HP. But that franchise is like...my soul. XP It was introduced to me by my only friend when I lived in South Carolina and I have been obsessed ever since. I used to have HP bed sheets, dolls (still do...), the cloak, the books on cassette, a jewelry box. If it was made I probably owned it or desired to own it at one time or another. While it wouldn't be a big deal to many to miss it...I would cut a bitch. :/ [not serious but is at the same time]

Exactly, a strong want does not mean important, but some people treat them as if though they were one and the same.  I'm one of those who'd say "It's just a movie."  I even say that about things that I'm more passionate about, like the Super Bowl.  If I miss it, I'll be bummed, but I know it's just a game and I can find out who won later online or in a newspaper (and that way, I avoid the crappy over-rated commercials!).

"Worth" is entirely subjective in this case, as it is in a lot of cases.  Besides, when you pay to see a movie in the theater, especially an opening night, you're paying for the experience; it's a social event as much as it is a viewing event.  Some people place more value on this than others.

Besides, the third one was terrible; I'll wait for it to come out on DVD, unless my GF wants to go see it while it's still in theatres.

Srsly?  Seems like most I talk to think the third one was the best.

Weekends are usually best to sit down and talk w/ me about anything for any length of time.  Or, immediately after my Linear Algebra class at 10AM.  But then I only have about 10-15 minutes.

And actually, he doesn't, but today he was just mentioning about going into the Financial Aid office and asking if he could volunteer there because he misses helping people. ^_^

Hon, I love you, but what does my gender have to do with understanding that there's nothing to lose from missing a movie opening?

Srsly?  Seems like most I talk to think the third one was the best.

The only thing good about the third movie was when Sparrow is first seen, going crazy.  Not only was it funny, but it was well done.  Other than that; pure crap.  I'm glad I didn't pay to see it.

I'm going for what Reppy said: I see movies at midnight for the people there. The HP premier was litterally the best day of my life, and I got dumped from a year long relationship that night.
It's fun. Sure, it costs money, but it's like our own $9 convention and it's fantastic.

I was also CORRECTLY identified by my BUTT. My hair has been dyed since being up here and two of my old friends were together. Didn't recognize me cause of my hair but the one looked at my butt and knew it was me. :/ Sad thing is that it was the chick and not the guy who did that.

Trying to get into more fandoms and intrests besides anime and manga.
My obsession with comics started with things like Garfield and Calvin and Hobbes, so i'm starting to miss that familiar humor i find in good ol' American comics and cartoons.
I've also put a lot of intrest in my videogames and drawing lately, which i'm very happy about.

There's your problem. You'll never know until you do it. Also, uh, dude? Movies don't cost more to see them at midnight. They cost the same.

I'm gonna go with this whole needing to see Harry Potter at midnight thing-- I've seen every movie since the fourth at midnight, and I can honestly and genuinely say that if I missed DHp2's midnight premiere I would spend the rest of my life regretting it. Harry Potter has been such a huge, influential thing in my life (I've been a fan since I was seven and read the first book, and I turn 20 in two weeks), it means a lot to me on a lot of levels, and I don't want to miss a very, very important premiere, since it's the last one there'll ever be.

I could say that cons aren't worth the $60+ pricetag that a lot of them come with, but I'm sure you'd disagree with me. And why? Because you know it's more than an event, it's an experience. This is the same.

I'll consider doing it for a movie worth staying up that late for and if any friends want to go to it, too.  And I didn't say that they were that expensive because of the time.

Cons are also multiple days long, not two hours.  You get to meet people in the business, not watch something for two hours.  Kumoricon is an annual event, movies constantly come out.  These are NOT the same.

It's not like you spend time just watching the movie and that's it. There's plenty of time both before and after a midnight premiere to socialize, discuss the movie, make friends, et cetera. For instance, for the premiere of Order of the Phoenix, earlier that night I'd gone to the Harry and the Potters concert that was happening in Portland, and went to the same theater as the band for the movie. I got to talk to the band members, get my swag from the show signed, and connect with a lot of the other concert-goers. Obviously this doesn't happen every time, but midnight premieres get the hardcore fans who are generally more enthusiastic and happy to be there than the rest of the movie audience. I've met TONS of neat people at premieres, people who I wouldn't have met otherwise.

Besides, as you said, cons are an annual thing. Each movie only comes out once. So really, looking at it that way, midnight movie premieres are more of an event that cons. I missed Kcon '07 because I was in Europe, but I wasn't too upset about it because I knew there was always next year; I wouldn't be so forgiving, no matter where in the world I was, if I had to miss the Deathly Hallows premiere.

This. QFT. Absolutely. I can't stress enough how much midnight premiers are about the experience and not just the movie. I'm not much into Harry Potter, but I am a massive Lord of the Rings geek, and the midnight showing for Fellowship was just...indescribable, and sooooo not just sitting watching a movie. Washougal, the fact that you've never attended a midnight showing is really coming through in your justifications. It is really a mini-con. People of the same hardcore passion gather, usually hours in advance either waiting in lines or in the theaters. People cosplay for it, contests are often held, people converse and make new friends. Oddly enough, watching the movie is usually the least spectacular aspect of the movie - it is the atmosphere that surrounds the midnight showing that makes it so worth it in so many people's eyes. And even while the movie is playing, like for the Star Wars Episode III midnight premier, people often interact with the film (but not in obnoxious ways or anything distracting). It is just a very hardcore gathering of those who love the culture and film. You couldn't be selling it any shorter by saying it's just "watching a movie".
