Even though we seem to have moved away from the subject I just wanna throw this out there...

I've had people make fun of me and say horrid things about me that go on the forums. And I've also had a few people threaten to beat me until I couldn't move that are from the forums as well, but that hasn't stopped me from going to an event that I like.

I guess I'm trying to say take what people say on the internet with a grain of salt. And the people on the kumoricon forums have always been like this, it just hasn't been out in the open. Because hell, I remember when I first got involved with people here in 2008 and there was tons of **** talking and generally douchey things going on. People are just doing it more openly now. It happens in any section/group of people.

Edit: I mean 2007, hurr durr. I can't even remember dates. That's when I started meeting people on the forums though.

I think people just need to grow up; some of it is all fine and dandy, but some of it is just plain rude and uncalled for.  Some of it is even criminal.  This con and these forums are supposed to be about fun, and some people seem to be going out of their way to spoil that for some people.  I think if someone wants to leave because the fun is now dead due to some people behaving disrespectfully, then it's a good thing for them.  It's sad that anyone would have to feel that way, but it's better than continuously going through that crap because some people refuse to grow up.

Aww... kitty!

Ohmygodsocute

I've been insulted, yelled at, angrily cussed at, have had people dislike me greatly, and disrespect things I hold dear. I still post on here and go to the con because the people that don't do that are super cool :D
Though I can see where you're coming from. :3
Next con: Kumoricon

@ Classy Viking - Certain forms of harassment can be interpreted as illegal acts, such as sexual harassment or downright assault.  If someone wanted to press charges, they could with some of the stuff I've seen and heard about that occur on the forums or between members outside of the forums.

This is something good to live off of.

@Washougal- I can totally understand someone not coming to the forums anymore, I guess the con thing is what is making me go "...what?". If someone is bothering you, tell them to stop or ignore it. If it gets to a point where someone is like, harassing you at a con repeatedly, threatening you, or trying to physically hurt you, you go tell staff or the cops or whatever and their asses get in trouble.

I know your not the person who is saying this or anything but I just wanted to say something to it. I'm sure you've told whoever it is that said they weren't going all of this already though.

This is why I strongly dislike mean-spirited trolling. Lots of us have had to endure teasing/bullying and it seems ridiculous that within our little subculture that teasing/bullying could become prevalent in some circles.

V  Ally's comment about how we're a community seems pretty apt here as well.

(snip)
On the flip side, you are a part of a COMMUNITY of individuals, and each of you has a right to be here, and a right to be happy here. Just like in real life, hurting for the sake of hurting is not appropriate and will not be tolerated. Much of the spamming and the clique forming and the bashing is ridiculous and wouldn't occur if everyone just remembered that the only reason you know these people exist is because they like similar things to you! Remember that we are connected by a strong bond of culture and interests, and the rest of the pathetic and painful cruelty that occurs because off topic is so broad should melt away, and what doesn't will be so miniscule, that our jobs as moderators will be a light touch on the forums.
This is my serious voice. Otherwise, I'm just another anime fan, not a moderator.

^ I guess that makes you one or both of those options! :P

On my note of randomness...this is a Monday of Mondays. For the life of me, I can't seem to figure out why I am so tired. My weekend was great, didn't do anything that would wear me out, been eating & sleeping same as usual, nothing stressful resting on my shoulders...so confused about this. I am not usually one to drink caffiene very often & I found myself running out to buy a coffee just to stay awake at work today.

Why was Himitsu:Top Secret never licensed?  I adore it and will never get why it doesn't have a huge following.  It's a fairly deep near-future science fiction series.  The manga seems to be a fairly popular one in Japan.  Neither the anime or the manga ever got picked up by US companies.

Not exactly...

I had a 'friend' who asked about a problem of mine.
I trusted him and told him about it.
He 'tried to understand' my problem and ended up telling his whole family in trying to get answers from them to 'understand' me.
It was none of his family's damn business about my life and if he needed answers, he could have asked ME and not gone behind my back and told other people about MY life.
And if he had asked, I would have told him to keep his nose out of MY business. He doesn't need to know the details.

So no...you are not always a good person for 'trying to understand' anything dealing with other people.
Make sure they want you to know before you go poking around where you don't belong because it can really piss off some people if you don't mind your own business.

I say back off, let her cool off, and maybe she'll apologize to you some time in the near future, posibly even informing you of what was/is going on.  A true friend doesn't try to push something that's causing a split, so let her be.

The next time you see her after she's cooled down, ask her if she could direct her fury elsewhere other than your direction, or instead calmly discuss with you why she's having a bad day. venting to a friend with open ears is a lot better than lashing out at them.

Sorry about this "grammar nazi" moment, but do you mean she scared you like she frightened you, or scarred you like she has permanently damaged you emotionally?

You're editor is right; just let her be for now.
