Did you miss the "I'm too shy" part? Besides, I've had my eye on someone else for a while now. :-[

Sometimes one has to just ignore the shyness and make out-of-character choices, risk it all.  Besides, coffee and talking is not really a love meeting.  Think of it as just getting to know one another.  This can be tried on someone else too that is being eyed.

Alright, after class today I shall finally get to the bottom of this. If all else fails, we might have a good laugh. Comedic abilities, don't fail me now!

I dressed as a boy today.  :D Woohh I still somewhat smell of Axe.

I still mostly looked like a girl though...

But I'm going to work on it, and for the first week or so of school next year I'm going to dress as a boy and fool any new teachers I have. :D!

AXE?! Whyyyyyyyyyy? Old Spice is so much better!

Nothing gained nothing earned, Teasel. What's the worst that will happen? She'll say "no", you might get embarrassed for a little while, but in a week, she'll have gotten over it and you should, too. I say go for it. :) At the very least, you can just ask, "Hey, want to study together and get some tea or coffee?" Something to ease into it.

I was the first one to admit to my now boyfriend. I'm glad I did :) It's nerve-wracking, but you never know! You're a better looking guy than you think, I bet.

But as a tip, make sure you brush your hair, your teeth, take a shower, and smell nice before you do. Smelly guys are a real turn off for a lot of girls. Saying that just in case ;)

CURSES! I finally worked up the nerve after class at Ondine to talk with her, but she got on the elevator with her roommate before I could! Damn! Well, at least my theory was right, she IS looking at me, but I'm still not entierly sure why...

Well, possible crushes aside, would anyone be willing to play some Rock Band tomarrow in the Viking gaming room? Maybe around 1pm, or sometime after that? I'm about to start a VERY busy weekend, filled with research paper writing. But hopefully I wont be depressed like last time!

After finals is no problem. But I warn you, by that time I'll have gone bat-$#!+ crazy. So instead of playing, I might be gnawing on the controller. Anyone interested in the here and now?

Those who cannot risk, cannot win.

Geez if you need confidence, hit on someone that you are not so geeked about. You may even have a fun date.

Umm, why are you talking relationship, when she doesn't even know you exist? Are you planning on being clingy?

Teasel, don't overthink things.   It'll totally kill the confidence.

Even if there is nothing romantic about it, a date with a cute girl is worth the risk of asking I'd say.  Coffee together won't mean anything but an hour or so of conversation.  It'll help understand if she's someone you could be happy with or vice versa.

I totally understand what you're saying. And honestly, I'd be fine with just having her as a friend. I mean, she's FROM Japan, and I think that would be kinda cool to have a friend from Japan. BUT, a girlfriend from Japan would be even cooler ;D . We'll just have to wait and see how tuesday plays out. ;)

She's an exchange student from what I can tell. Because I've overheard her say that she's from Japan. And it's easy to tell that english isn't her native language (She has an accent, and she carries around a little electronic translator). So I'm pretty sure she's an exchange student.

If the spam thread is supposed to remain unmoderated I can say what I'm thinking now because I'm no longer staff and don't plan to be:

Tanis, you are a complete bastard and I hope I never have to deal with you again. That is all.

Also: Proof = http://www.kumoricon.org/forums/index.php?topic=8750.0
I'm leaving that unchanged. And you are entitled to your own opinions. This is a post I should be editing as a moderator, as it contains an insult, but I will let it stand for all to see.

Mustash, among others, regards me as a complete bastard and he hopes he will never have to deal with me again.

I have my own opinions about any potential bastardliness I may or may not have within me. Thing is, me being a bastard or not is not for me to judge; it's something all of you have to decide, individually.

I'd make a thread about it with a poll, but I don't think it would be welcome in the forum.

I'm a person who cares about what people think of me due to two failed best friendships. It's hard for me not to self-reflect and consider where I went wrong and where I acted out in a way that was unfair or bastardly to other people. Often, I find that I did act unfairly and apologize as such.

The act of self-reflection for me is something that would benefit a lot of people and perhaps improve the way things are now. That way I know that I have areas I need to watch, and because I've been doing this, I've improved who I am and have the confidence to say "You're wrong" after thoroughly analyzing a situation.

I've always thought bastardliness was decided by a majority vote. If more people think I'm a bastard than the folks who don't, then I am one.

And in that post Mustash brought up, I don't think I acted out of line.

I don't know you very well so I can't fully tell if you're a bastard yet, but, if you don't mind me saying, you often come across as very gruff and aggressive on people. If you act similar here on the forums and in real life, then, well, I would think you were a jerk. I'm assuming with you it's "What you see is what you get. Deal with it or bugger off". That's not necessarily a bad thing depending on what degree you hold to that. Being true to yourself is a good thing, but being inflexible to the people around you and unresponsive when you hurt someone shows a lack of respect. Even if it's "I didn't mean to hurt you like I did, but that's how I am" is better than "You think that. So be it. I'm not changing". The first statement didn't even have an apology in it. It's a tactful way to state your opinion without offending people.

I do think that unlocking Mr. Mustache's last locked post was ridiculous. It was a goofy post to commemorate his last lock, and calling it an abuse of power when it affected no one was silly on your part, I think. It was a kill-joy and tactless. I'm not a moderator so I don't know the rules, but if I WAS a mod and saw Mr. Mustache's last post locked like that in a thread all it's own, I'd give a smile and go on to moderating more important things. It was in the SPAM board, after all.

I'm neither gruff nor aggressive wherever I am. I'm concise, which could be mistaken for either of those two qualities. I simply don't waste words online, nor do I adorn them with those "XD", "8D", or other things that make folks think that the poster's words were intended to be super-cute. My words are language; they convey their point and then they get off the screen and they don't waste space.

Gruff and aggressive are how other people perceive you. While you know who you are, human relations deal largely with how other people see you. Words and letters are cold, emotionless pixels on a screen that can't convey a feeling or a personality accurately, hence the use of emotes. Something that's meant to be a joke like "Oh, yeah, totally get some deodorant, Stinky" can sound serious to a friend who might be self-conscious about their BO when really you're trying to be sarcastic and tell them "Oh, yeah, totally get some deodorant, Stinky ;)"

In America, being direct can be offensive, like, I dunno, take those Viagra and Levitra commercials. They switched out "Erectile Dysfunction" with ED because it's more pleasant and men don't have to deal with the direct idea that they have a flaccid penis. Or when someone has a weight problem, calling them "fat" would be correct, but it's harsh and can hurt their feelings. "Overweight" is a softened term that means "fat", but has a gentler connotation to it.

It's the softening of America, yes, but it's also human interactions and relations especially if you don't know the other side very well.

Yeah... and then there's common courtesy. Lychee does have a point. Not everyone acknowledges that internet rule because we're all human. We like to joke and other times, we say and do certain things that are purposely hurtful.
