DON'T GET THE SHILO INN NEAR THE CONVENTION CENTER!!!

It's skeezy as all hell. Seriously. The continental breakfast at 9AM consisted of two pastries, five muffins, and a quarter loaf of bread (unless people absolutely raided it that early in the morning). There were cigarette burns in the blankets, and two of our friends visited, immediately informing us that a prostitute had just rented a room nearby.

Ick. Yeah, Shilo Inn, that was a disappointment. Last year was infinitely better. That was a good Shilo Inn.

Actually Zero was sick but they got sick yesterday evening. The same time I did. Someone else must have had it before then and then spread it to our group but I can't figure out who. I'm thinking the photo shoot or something.
Oh well. Better to be sick now then at the con. Now I need to get some soup.

YOU- -CAN- -DO- -IT!
Title: New Orleans Beignet Doughnuts
Categories: Cookies
Yield: 10 Servings

1 pk Active dry yeast
1 1/2 c Warm Water (105 deg. f.)
1/2 c Sugar
1 ts Salt
2 Eggs
1 c Evaporated milk
7 c Sifted all-purpose flour
1/4 c Soft shortening
Oil for frying

In large bowl, sprinkle yeast over water; stir to dissolve. Add sugar,
salt, eggs and milk. Blend with rotary beater. Add 4 cups of the flour;
beat smooth. Add shortening; beat in remaining flour. Cover and chill
several hours. Deep fry at 360 degrees 2 to 3 mintues or until lightly
browned on each side. (If beignets don't rise to the top immediately when
you drop them into the oil, the oil isn't hot enough.) Drain on paper
towels. Sprinkle heavily with confectioners' sugar. Serve hot.
