Re-Thread: How do I get the Convention discount?

I enter JAA into the online order thing and the lowest rate it gives me is 130 a night. Did the price go up since 99 a night was posted?
Or is there a trick?

I'm going to be doing my reservations soon and I kinda need to know.

It shouldn't have.  You might want to call the hotel and try that way because they were having issues where it was charging more for the room if you put 4 people in there, but it's not supposed to.

i called in to register on tuesdays and didn't have a problem, tho when i asked about the free room upgrade she said that the room having 2 beds, was the up grade, but i heard some one say somthing about having a couch in their room, not complaining or anything its a been awhile since hotel bookings started...

The rooms were first come, first serve for the premium rooms, and there were only 40 or so available, so I'm pretty sure they're all gone now.

well, I'll have to see what other people who need a room overall first.  there is some people who may have a higher priorty(close friends, family, club members, etc) so I dun want to throw any promises yet.  atm, I dun see anything wrong with your PSL as I only use the room for 3 things mainly.  sleep, clothes(including cosplay maintenance), and hygiene.

Ahem.... well I just called the reservation line to do some research on the room differences (a Premium room is literally a tiny bit bigger with no listed cost difference) and found out something interesting.

They have no listing for Kumoricon. No group code, no special negotiation. Nothing.
So ummm..... is there an actual discount or was that just for the first lucky callers?
Because here's the way the math for my situation breaks down:

I'm staying Friday night and leaving Tuesday morning. 4 nights. Now I'm not expecting everyone, especially those who can't get Tuesday off or have a long drive ahead of them or haven't volunteered, to stay all those nights. But going with the theory that I had roomates that would stay all four nights here's the prices (the real rates, with the tax added like it SHOULD be).

Total Stay- 629.78...........314.89..........209.93...........157.45
Per Night ...157.45............78.725...........52.48.............39.36
People.........1....................2...................3...................4

So there's the break down. If I can get 1 person to room with me for just two nights, it'll save me $150 bucks. It's almost enough to charge admission for a room party.  
Maybe I'll open a Midnight Market that makes deliveries, for those of you constricted by the curfew. I'll be sure to give out my room number.  :wink:

I think I'll post this on LJ just to tempt some of my friends away from their hard earned gold.. er...dollars.

The hotel code should be valid still.  You have to make sure you mention the group reservation code, because if you don't use that, then they don't have any other way of looking it up.

I'd actually suggest calling back and cancelling the room and re-reserving it under the group code.  Not only will it now fall under our room night commitment block, but it will save you money.

I am going to be speaking with the person at the hotel desk this Saturday after the meeting and hopefully we can get this taken care of. I'd hate to find out that dozens of attendees lost hundreds of dollars because a code didn't work.

I just got off with the hotel, there's still plenty of rooms available, if you were trying to register for nights other than Friday, Sat, Sunday, that may have been where the hang-up was.  We added some more shoulder-nights, so that shouldn't be an issue.  
Also, when calling, they didn't have it listed under 'Kumoricon' they had it under 'Japanese Animation'.  They still should have been able to get it from the JAA code though.  
I'm getting them to change it so that it's listed under Kumoricon, but that mkight take a few days.
I checked the online registration, and all the options seem to work fine (i.e. registering 4 people still gives you the $99/night rate).

Yes, they're very nice, and each morning they leave you a cookie at the door.  You're right at the convention, there's a mall across the street for your amusement if you're not thrilled with the convention for some unthinkable reason, there's a great pool at the hotel, and so much more!

I'm glad that I wasn't "thouroughly disppointed" by this problem. I'll definitely be getting that reservation this afternoon after the meeting. I'm gonna go and do it in person werson so there's much less chance of confusion.

It has been fixed and I got the convention discount for each of my days!
This meeans that the ammounts will be drastically cheaper, however the tax still needs to be added into my receipt so I'll have to do that math and get back to you all.

There's the full price. Now that I've gotten the discount it takes some reworking. The hotel tax is 8%. This means that from 99 dollars, the actual price is 106.92

Total Stay- 427.68........... 213.84.......... 142.56.......... 106.92
Per Night ...106.92............ 53.46........... 35.64............. 26.73
People.........1....................2...................3...................4

So this means that if I get a roomate for Friday, Saturday and Sunday; but they leave Monday, they would give me $53.56 three times ($160.68) and I would pay that same ammount plus the $106.92 (total of $267.60).

I really wish that I could have 4 roomates for the whole time but I know that my girlfriend won't be paying me back for her portion. No biggy.This means that the lowest I'd have to pay is 142.68, a measly THREE HUNDRED BUCKS in savings! Ha ha!

So there you have it, that is the price break down. I'll make a new thread if my friends here won't be bunking with me so you people who need roomies can get in.
