He is on faculty at NYU and active in his field. Respected in both academic and popular culture circles, Davisson played a significant role in making Japanese folklore, entertainment, and literature accessible to English-speaking audiences.</p>
<p>He translated globally known properties such as <em>Devilman</em>, <em>Kitaro</em>, and <em>Captain Harlock,</em> as well as modern works such as <em>Cat + Gamer</em> and Gou Tanabe&#39;s Lovecraft manga. Davisson also is the author of <em>The Ultimate Guide to Japanese Yokai</em>, <em>Yurei: The Japanese Ghost</em>, and <em>Kaibyo: The Supernatural Cats of Japan</em>. Davisson lectured on manga, folklore, and translation at Duke University, Annapolis Naval Academy, Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia, and the Art Gallery of New South Wales.</p>
